The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, I made homemade applesauce.  I worked on various reviews, blog stuff and visiting other blogs.  I also got a good start on the flannel for the receiving blankets project.  I think it’s really fun.  I did the usual laundry and other cleanup chores.  My daughter and I both had medical tests this week which ate up a lot of time and energy.

Wednesday my daughter had a quiz.  She didn’t feel very well and slept most of the afternoon. I was tired from my test the day before. We didn’t make it to quilting but I was working on the receiving blankets project at home.   Thursday, we both had massages and chiro adjustments.  I took a short nap and then tried to catch up on reading.  Friday morning was my daughter’s medical test.  We went out for lunch afterward. She was exhausted but seemed to be feeling good after she napped.  I finally caught up with some of my emails and post visiting.

Saturday, we didn’t have dog training this week so I got a 2 day weekend we could just stay home!   It’s great timing since my Mom’s house sold this week and I have to go to Iowa to go through stuff with my brother next weekend. I woke to a blissfully cool and breezy morning.  We are supposed to be in the 70s-80s (22-25C) this week. Of course in Iowa, it’s going to be 50s (12C)  and around 30 (0C) at night.  Oh well, I wanted cooler weather.

I had an amazing day Saturday just working on things that needed to be done. I wanted to get going right away and knock off some tasks so of course, I ended up having a 2 hour convo with my brother of how we are going to sort things and who gets what in the house.  It was good and necessary but I wanted to get some tasks out of the way first, since it wasn’t a planned task.  I did some laundry.  I wrote a review and set up some others. I did some blog visiting. I worked some more on flannel for the receiving blanket project.  Sunday will continue with these projects and preparation for my trip.  I really hope to help my daughter put away some things also.

September Reading:  I had another good reading month. Why do I still feel so behind?  I managed to read 29 books plus one DNF, but I was still busy with unpacking. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to 15 audiobooks, read 18 New Releases,  9 library books,   and 11 Beat the Backlist books.  I am also over 100% on all my challenges for the year and they were not low numbers, but I have been in a reading frenzy this year.

Because Reading is better than real life

I love this challenge and have about a zillion series I want to read and would love to binge.    It runs the month of November and you must read at least 3 books (not novellas).  Go check out the rest of the rules and signup at Because Reading.

This was a really tough pick because the ones I wanted were all too long and I wasn’t sure I could get them all unless I bought them plus I am so far behind on ARCs right now, but I have less scheduled for November (and need to keep it that way!)  The series I will be reading is undecided. It likely will be an audiobook series.  I’ve narrowed it down but will have to decide later. Some I want to read are too long. I want to do something around 5 or 6 books, preferably in Audible Escape since I have hardly used it.  But I also have a bunch of audiobooks I own and I may do one of those series.    Some of the candidates are White Trash Zombies by Diana Rowland, Vlad series by Jeaniene Frost,  Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas,  Angie Pallorino series by Loreth Anne White,  and Hunters / FBI by Alexandera Sokoloff.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thank you so much Berkley Romance,  Social Butterfly PR, Penguin Random Audio, and MacMillan Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

So  I couldn’t resist some Chirp deals, all $2-3.   And then I got a free Audible original plus the 2 normal Audible originals.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Anne

  1. You did great with September reading. The series challenge sounds fun. I’ve read both The Vampire Knitting Club and When No One is Watching and I enjoyed both. Have a nice week!

    • Yes it is good to have a sibling. We mostly worked on stuff and my Mom’s “moving” is too close to my own for it to be fun for me. I’m tired of moving. *whines* It’s a good thing just exhausting to make decisions all the time.

    • Yes I have so many books right now. I’m working it down. Luckily, Ninth House and many others are audio books. I’ll be in the car 4 long days this week to go to my Mom’s in Iowa so I’ll have lots of listening time.

    • Well the audiobooks are easier because I can listen while I cook, do laundry, set up posts, mow the lawn, run errands, work on quilts, etc. But right now many of the books like the one for this afternoon’s post on a blog tour is 500 pages. It was easy but some are harder. Most though are 300-400 pages. I am normally a fast reader but I’m having trouble right now with falling asleep at night instead of reading for an hour or two.

  2. Glad you managed to get a bit of extra time this weekend to sort out your mother’s move with your brother. I don’t have any brothers, but I have 2 wonderful sisters, so I do know what sibling power can do:)). I’m very impressed with 29 books in September, given all the other stuff you’ve got going on. I hope the coming week is a good one – and a bit cooler, too.

  3. Nice that you got some more done around the house and the quilt project. Glad the med tests are over for you and hope the results are good. It can be exhausting, for sure. Hope the trip and the house clean out go well for you.
Great haul. I got the Vampire Knitting Club, too.

I’m doing the Can You Read a Series in a Month, too. I think I’m doing the remaining three books in the Children of the Sea series by Virginia Kantra. I’ve got myself so booked up with arcs in November that I needed one with only three in it.

    Have a great week, Anne!

    • Thanks Sophia. I am torn about which series to do. Last time I did one ebook series and one audio series with no problem. The only way I can work this time is with audio. I’m in an ebook slump, only because I got to bed late and get up early so I fall asleep right away instead of reading 1-2 hours at bedtime. Yes my tests are all just screening and I’m fine. My daughter won’t get her gastro results until the appt Nov 11.

    • Oh I’m sorry the Mercy Thompson Read-along is 2020. The announcement will be Dec 6 with reading a book every 4 weeks, so the Moon Called review will be Jan 3. There will be games and prizes. We are just finishing this year’s RA with the last book in the Alex Verus series by Benedict Jacka, Fallen.

It’s sad that 29 books doesn’t seem like enough since there is so much I want to read.

  4. Sounds like a good week – I know how nice it is to have an uneventful weekend pop up so you can relax at home and just get some things done. Sounds like you’re going to be really busy next weekend with going through things at your mom’s house. I know it needs to be done, but not a task I envy at all!

I would definitely recommend White Trash Zombie for your series! It’s a great one on audio and the books go super fast, I doubt you’d have any trouble finishing within the month. And it’s just a really great series. I wish she’d write more or a spin off or something, I just loved it so much. Good luck with whichever series you end up choosing!

    • Thanks – I am seriously considering White Trash Zombies. I have 2 yet to buy but I have lots of credits to use by December anyway. I just thought I might do something Audible Escape since I have had it 2 months and have only listened to 1 audio.

I don’t envy me going through more stuff when I am doing that all the time at home after moving. But hey, at least I get traveling with audio books!

  5. Lots of nice books this week you picked up. I hope you enjoy them. Good luck with going through your mom’s house. My mom and her sisters had to do this last year when my grandpa passed. Not an easy task. Sounds like you got a lot done. Your doing great on your reading/listening. 29 books. WOW!!

    • I had to pick up the reading pace as I’m a bit behind. But I am making progress on all fronts. After this trip home to Iowa, it should get easier, although I’ll have laundry and grocery shopping to do but really I do that every week. I look forward to the audio time while traveling.

  6. Melanie

I’m so glad that the weather has finally turned. I’ve had all the windows in my house open for my first time ever. The windows were all original to the house and many were chalked shut (I could only open 4 prior). I got all new windows this summer, and this weekend has been the only time weather has allowed for them to be open. I’m so excited for this fall with all of them open.

    • That sounds awesome! I have screens in only one window and the rest of the screens are in the garage. Something to think about. Later. I won’t be able to keep up this week, but at least it won’t be hot and I will have plenty of travel time to listen to audio books.

    • Audiobooks are the key to my reading success these days. I can listen while doing so much of the other things I need to do. I keep working away, squeezing in little tasks wherever and whenever I can manage them. I can’t wait to be finished with unpacking so I can just work on my projects.

    • Thanks. Audiobooks are the key because I can do stuff at the same time. But I read quickly if I don’t fall asleep immediately. I’m going to be behind on ebooks again after my trip to Mom’s but I should be excellent on audio.

  7. That’s an amazing number of books! Good for you! Especially with all you have going on. Hope all comes back good. The receiving blanket project sounds so nice – I remember when my son was in the NICU when he was born we received a few knitted hats and a blanket from some organization that had donated them, and it was such a sweet thing at a tough time. 🙂 We of course kept them all safe and sound for him to have when he is older. 🙂

The Vampire Knitting book sounds so good!

    • Thank you. I’m excited because it will be a worthwhile use of our flannel and reduce it by at least half. It’s a fun project too. The only way I have that many books is the audiobooks. My ebook reading has dropped off the last couple months.

  8. I am glad you had a good week, Anne. It looks like you had a great reading month. I think we’re doomed to always feel behind when it comes to reading given how many books out there we want to read–even those we don’t yet know about! Enjoy all your new books! Have a great week.

  9. Jen

You had me at homemade apple sauce! lol.

Does the series need to be finished or you just listen up to current releases? I don’t know what’s in the Audible escape package, but here are a couple I’ve enjoyed (not sure if you’ve read):
*Molly Harper – either the original Jane Jameson series (PNR/UF humor; 4 books?) or the Bluegrass series (Contemp Rom/humor; 3 books).
*SPI Files by Lisa Shearin (UF; currently 6 books out).
*Man Hands series by Tanya Eby and Sarina Bowen (rom com; 3 books)
*Elemental Steampunk Chronicles by Anne Renwick (steampunk/historical rom; 3 books not counting novellas/spinoffs)

    • Thanks for the recs! I have read the Jane Jameson series. But one of the options for me would be the Naked Werewolf series as I have purchased that on audio and have yet to read it. I’ve read one of the Man Hands books I think so there wouldn’t be 3 left. The Anne Renwick series is a possibility.

Applesauce was one of the few things we could both eat before our tests last week. So glad they are done and everything is fine.
