This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre.
The genre here, by my definition, is a story where the primary characters work with ghosts. These are the ones which came to mind which I enjoyed.
Since I haven’t read everything, it’s a subset of the possibilities. I’m sure I am forgetting some great authors. There are also plenty of authors I have yet to read. Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.
My favorite Ghost series are (in no particular order):
Frostbite Ghost Seer Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries
by Stacey Kennedy by Robin D. Owens by Danielle Garrett
Downside Ghosts Graveyard Queen Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries
by Stacia Kane by Amanda Stevens by Angie Fox

I’ve not read any of these so can’t really vote. On yours. I added The Ghost and Mrs. Muir although it’s really really old. It comes up as Other.
Wasn’t that a tv show a long time ago? I didn’t know there were books but that makes sense.
I haven’t read that many books with ghosts, I think the only one really is Jeaniene Frost and Lynn Kurland. Great picks though, I have heard some fabulous things about all of these.
I hadn’t read many of them until I decided to do this feature for October – Halloween This is a nice mix of cozies and darker UF/fantasy ones
I haven’t or can’t remember reading anything featuring Ghosts. I did read the novella that introduces the characters for Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery by Danielle Garrett and want to read it. I’ve got a few you listed on my TBR.
I had to search a little to get 6 but there are some I did end up with some I didn’t include. I researched and read some of these for this “Halloween” month post
This is funny. I would have named each of those (except Downside Ghosts which I still need to read and have setting on my shelf) including that older Stacey Kennedy series for this one. I’m on the fifth of The Graveyard Queen books right now.
I think the only other ghost books I’ve read have only been one in a series of various paranormals or standalones. Although, I’m listening to a new to me urban fantasy series right now where the hero talks to the dead. We’ll see how it goes. So far so good.
When I first thought of this theme I could only think of 2 but then I remembered more as I worked on it.
I LOVE the Downside Ghost series on audio and plan to do a relisten very soon.
I got it on ebook but the audiobook just showed up today so I might listen to it during the 20+ hours I’ll be in the car driving back to NC.
I have Southern Spirits but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Many of these look fun!
It’s a mix of cozies, PNR and UF. I like diversity.
I love Downside Ghosts. I’m doing a relisten to the series right now. I just have one book left. I like the Beechwood Harbor series too. A much lighter series. I’ve listened to book on of the Graveyard Queen series. I need to listen to more.

I haven’t read the whole series yet on most of these but it’s a good bunch in the theme.
I first thought that I hadn’t really read any ghost stories but I love Stacia Kane’s series and I have also read the first book in Angie Fox’s series.
These theme posts are fun as they make me think and sometimes they make other people think too.
I love the Haunted Yarnshop Cozy Mysteries by Molly Macrae. The characters are fantastic! There is a slight supernatural element to them as well. There is a moody ghost named Geneva, a cat who may not be as ordinary as one would think, and Kath, the main character, who has learned that her grandmother had some magic like the kind that she has recently inherited along with her grandmother’s shop. The Weaver’s Cat fiber shop has a meeting room where the knitting club meets regularly. The club members end up becoming the sleuthing posse helping Kath solve a series of murders. The characters are all fully developed and believable. There is a developing romance. We continue to learn about Geneva as she starts to recall more of her life and how she died. And, the books include recipes in the back that the local restaurant owner brings to the meetings.
That does sound fun. I include ones I know about and have read some. I didn’t know about this one and hope I can get to it. Thanks for sharing.
I haven’t read any of these but reading about them I chose the series I most wanted to read. Actually I don’t keep track of books with ghosts but I totally should! I love when they aren’t the total focus of the book but a neat side character. My favorite ghost series is Odd Thomas!! I wish there were more. ❤️❤️❤️
I love these themes as they get me to look at stories in a different way and try new things.
Oh, it’s a tie between Downside Ghosts & The Graveyard Queen! Both are outstanding on audio. I gave a slight edge to Downside.
Well you can vote for 3! But it’s good to know you like both of those
That’s what I get for not reading the directions! Thanks and I’ve added my other vote.
