Sunday, was the usual blog visiting and some other work on posts. My brother asked if I had to ask the HOA to approve the new roof, so I asked on the facebook group and the answer is yes if you are changing colors. Since the roof is two colors right now and I’m going to one color, that’s probably a yes. I printed out the form and got my 3 closest neighbors to sign it. I continue trying to do all the things to get a bit ahead and pick up around the house. It was supposed to thunderstorm, but I don’t think we got more than a few sprinkles.
Monday, I sent off the form to the management company. I’m working off my freezer and pantry to eat down what we have. So I am back to creating a menu plan. Woot! For once I was on facebook when someone in the neighborhood was giving away a microwave. I went over and picked it up. It’s the perfect size to use during the kitchen remodel and then we can regift it.
Tuesday, getting Walmart pickup orders placed and planning cleaning and other tasks before my brother arrives. And before the roofers arrive tomorrow. I got approval from the HOA this morning so that’s good. It was supposed to rain all day and while it is cool and cloudy, it’s not raining. OK I went to pickup at Walgreens and Walmart and it did start raining. I waited over an hour for my pickup, even though I was near the front and it was ready before I got there.
Wednesday, I was up and the roofers were here by 7:30. I’d done most of my normal tasks by 10am and I’m not usually up to the office by then. I planned a day of various kinds of cleaning. It’s a gorgeous day in the 70s, a bit cloudy, so I took Lulu for a nice long walk. I did more review setups and juggling of review dates. I did do some cleaning.
Thursday, it was another early morning. My daughter and I went to the farmer’s market (wearing masks even though it is outdoors.. We got green beans, corn, tomatoes and peaches. I have one tomato on my plant and it is starting to turn color. When we got back, I went to work on power washing the patio. It is a gorgeous day and they had moved all the furniture off into the lawn. I finished just in time for them to put the furniture and grill back before they left. I did some more watering, cleaned my motorcycle a bit, and a recumbent bike we got thru Buy Nothing for my daughter. I have laundry going, more cleaning and now to the computer. I went to do the Walmart pickup, a quick stop at Food Lion, and then to the airport to get my brother. When we got back, I was showed him the house and then fixed dinner.
Friday, my brother was working from here but I was busy with the roofer cleanup. Then I did computer stuff. My brother wanted to do a bunch of things and we ended up going to Tmobile to change our SIMS out from Sprint. Then a stop at BJ’s to put air in my tires and get the empty propane tank for the grill filled and then to Food Lion for a couple items I forgot yesterday. I made an angel food cake from scratch and we had BBQ pulled chicken, corn on the cob and coleslaw. My brother went for a walk and took Lulu who was thrilled to go. I went to bed and dropped like a rock.
Saturday, I slept in and then read for a bit. When I got up, the night owls had left plenty of dishes in the sink. After breakfast, I unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. My brother wanted to try my electric mower and I had a small section I didn’t mow last weekend which he did. Then we moved the existing freezer over so the new one could be delivered into the space where it was. I have gotten some hard drive errors on my computer which is just a couple months old. So I need to run some diags and updates next week. But in the meantime, I decided to put a new SSD drive in my old computer so that if I have to send this one in for 2 weeks I’ll have a decent one to use. We took it to the computer place I like then stopped at Trader Joes before picking up our favorite Chinese takeout. After dinner, I took Paul on my favorite walking route which is only about 1.5 miles with Lulu. He complained that she has camoflauge poop because it is green! ROFL. Every batch of her food I make has either green beans, spinach, kale or broccoli. So it is usually green.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

We don´t have colorful roofs here, so we don´t need permission from our neighbors *smile* Curious to see how your house will look with the new roof. Happy reading!
Thank you Vi! I was going from black and dark grey to a medium gray so not all that colorful really.
lots of fun. happy new roof days. Hope you get outdoors this week.
I think this week will be hotter but I still hope to get out. We really like the walking.
Sounds like your weather has been excellent. We’re still in a heatwave with temps in the 90s, and I hope it breaks soon. Have a good week!
Thank you Tammy! It was a really good week weatherwise, although it was supposed to rain yesterday 85% chance for all day and … nothing. It maybe rained a bit at night. But not much rain ahead. I watered the shrubs and flowers a bit this morning.
A trip to the farmers market and a day working outside sounds very lovely.
I love going to the farmer’s market. It isn’t too far away either. It’s hot enough here that the types of produce aren’t as plentiful in August as in Minnesota but we get fresh things like peaches which are actually local. But spring and fall feel like they have more variety.
A visit to the Farmer’s Market sounds so wonderful. I haven’t done that since the start of the pandemic and really ought to before it closes for cold weather.
We are lucky the market is all year round here. It’s outdoors but we still wear masks. I love the smells of all the fresh produce.
I love farmers markets! I try to get meat there because there is an amish family that sells at the farmers market by work (I work in a RURAL area). They have the best ground beef and chicken. Plus, its all raised humanely and that matters to me. Have a great week!
Yes it is all fresh and the most tasty. I get plants at the farmer’s market sometimes also. We like to get organic, grass-fed meats too.
I hope you have a great visit with your brother!
Thank you! It’s kind of intense to have him here but it’s also good to catch up. I cook bigger meals. By intense, I mean I have less private time. He was only here for a short time so I try to spend the time with him.
The weather sounds great for all you were out getting done and yay for a smooth HOA approval on the roof project. I’m so glad you get to see your brother this week.. Hopefully your new computer will start cooperating after the updates. You remind me I need to do my monthly back up and do a de-frag.
Have a good week, Anne!
Yes there are plenty of computer tasks to do. I love having my brother visit but it cuts into my private time and reading plus I have to be more scheduled so we do things together. I’m glad the roof went pretty well. And one thing done.
What Lulu has green poop??? LOL My dog gets these from time to time too. As usual you were very busy Anne!
Very busy! I think I’m just going to sleep until I wake up tomorrow. This weekend was more scheduled with my brother so I will enjoy doing things but more rambling tomorrow. It’s camoflauge poop!
Ahhh I love these kind of jam-packed, newsy posts.
I’m glad the HOA approved your roof.
That was lucky that you were able to grab that microwave. I’m always too late for everything good my neighbors post about. I was really bummed when I missed out on a complete set of pots & pans. lol
LOL-ing at the camouflage poop!
Thank you! This was one hectic week but things got done.
The Farmer’s market is always an interesting place to go and find neat things to bring home. Glad to hear you got approval from the HOA to get the new roof.
I love the farmer’s market. I was glad it wasn’t a hassle with the HOA since I haven’t lived with one before. And the installation wasn’t too noisy or disruptive either.
Yay for a new roof! And for good weather while it was being worked on. The freebie microwave sounds like it came along at the perfect time. And I had to laugh at the description of Lulu’s camouflage poop.
Have a lovely week, and enjoy those new books!
Thank you! It was a very busy week and I hope to step back a bit this week. I will still have to do things but I need a little break. I have all those great books to read after all!
Looks like you had such a busy week here. I just love visiting the farmer’s markets. They are so fun. We don’t really have them consistently throughout the year. Mostly the best time to visit is early fall so I can’t wait. Do what you need to do to feel safe and hope you have a lovely week.
I’m so tired after this week and with the weather heating up, I’ll be glad to stay home more. I hope to also do some more reading. The farmer’s market is always a joy. It’s year round here and we aren’t too far away. It’s open nearly every day.
Sounds like you’re having a nice visit with your brother and it sound like Lulu has a healthy diet. Probably better than mine right now. We should all have green poop, lol! I’m jealous of your lovely weather! 70s with some rain? So wonderful!
Enjoy your new books!
Thank you Rachel. It’s going to be HOT this week but last week was terrific. We didn’t get as much rain as predicted but some, not much forecast for this week. The first time I made Lulu food my daughter wanted me to make it for her too.
I did the same thing with planning our meals around the freezer inventory. We had accumulated quite a bit when there were shortages last year (on meats). Now I’ve got it to the point where I was able to combine the stuff remaining in the big freezer with what was in the fridge/freezer. And we’ve converted the upright freezer to another fridge which we use solely for drinks.
I noticed you added one by Kennedy Fox last week. I haven’t read that series yet but I’ve been on a Kennedy Fox binge for the last month. I’m currently listening to the final book (#6) in the Roommate Duets series. They’ve been great but I definitely need a break after this one. They have a lot of drama! LOL
I always had a freezer inventory in MN but fell out here and everything changed up when we went to gluten free. I’m so glad to have it again. Plus I’ve organized the freezer better.
I haven’t read the Kennedy Fox books but I’m more picky these days so there must have been something which caught my attention.
Another busy week! That’s funny about Lulu’s poop. Must blend right in with the grass. 🙂
It does blend in with the grass but by the next day it turns brown/black so then it’s a bit easier to see.
The idea of a colorful roof sounds fun!! And all this fresh food these days, I am loving it. We are wearing our masks inside and outside around people too. We only don’t wear them if we are alone outside or with our little bubble, even though Billy and I are vaccinated. Maybe one day we will be able to take them off!
Enjoy your week!
Well better safe than sorry. We are masking the same as before vaccinated. The old roof was black and dark grey. The black was a patch of some sort. I chose a medium gray that has a green tinge since I have green shutters. It would be fun to have a more colorful roof but I wouldn’t do that in this neighborhood. It’s a bit more conservative.
Hello! I’m back from vacation and trying to check in with my peeps. We had a great week away; lots of family fun on the lake. Lots of eating, but also lots of steps. Love the “camo poop” comment, it made me giggle.
I’m glad it was a great time! We like to have fun around here, camo poop and all.
It is so nice that your brother has been visiting with you. It sounds like the roof went well. It looks like we will be getting one soon and I am not looking forward to it. It sounds like you had another busy week. I hope that you enjoy all of your new books!
The roof went about as smoothly as it could have. My brother is fun with lots of ideas but intense. I am tired this week but I have things to do anyway.
