Sunday, last night I forgot about the flash sale Audible was doing and remembered at 11:30. I also had my old laptop with the new hard drive in my room which I hadn’t turned on yet. So I set it up to take a look but there was nothing I wanted.
Monday, I got going early as I feel asleep without being able to read much at night. I spot watered the flowers, trees and a dry patch of sod. I got a review request which said the book “may not be appropriate for children or trump supporters.” Sometimes, they seem like the same thing. But it did make me laugh and think it might be worth reading. I had a nice salad for lunch. I keep using more of the cherry tomatoes and it’s never enough. I read all the little shorts in the Psy-Changeling series which follow Tangle of Need.
Tuesday, I spent time reading. I found a publisher had sent a code for a book in my favorite series!! Then I got to work on laundry, garbage, and recycle. I updated my challenges for COYER and Library Love.
Wednesday, I planned today to do a lot of computer work since it was supposed to rain. The the next two days which are to be cooler I would do a bunch of yard work. Well I started out and then some odd things were happening with the blog. I couldn’t add graphics, the post calendar just gets and error, and commentluv can’t find any posts. I did setup posts without the graphics and I was able to get posts ready that already had the graphics. It’s a good thing I set up usually when I get ARCs but some I got this week I can’t set up. And so far, we aren’t really getting the rain, other than a few sprinkles.
Thursday, the lovely and competent Ashley has the problem solved so I would be busy doing setups but it is below 80 so the lawn work is top priority. I spot watered the beds on the west side of the house. I got out all the tools. I ran the leaf sucker. When the bag was full. I emptied out the compost grown this summer into the garden beds for the soon to be fall planting. Then I refilled the compost bin with sucked and pulverized leaves. Then I fired up my new edger to trim around the patio and driveway. After that I started mowing the back yard which I believe is 12 inches high. I’m having to empty the bag after I go to the other end of the yard and back. The yard waste bin is nearly full and I haven’t done 25% of the lawn. I stopped a bit for water, more sunscreen and a little computer time and then it’s back to work. There a really nice breeze which feels good too. So I finished the lawn sucking because that is an electric which is plugged in with a cord to an outlet. But the mower and edger use batteries, which are all dead so I will have to finish tomorrow (And I have more than one battery for each). I called my ex to ask a question about the edger because he has one. I told him I still haven’t found the level, I think I’ve looked everywhere over the last month and many times. He admitted he found it early this week – he’d taken it to IL, which I asked him that a month ago! So I’ll either need to buy a level or wait until December to hang them.
Friday, well I was sore last night but a dose of ibuprofen and an hour with the heating pad seem to have left me in good shape today. I was worried I couldn’t get out of bed but I’m back at it today. It’s another gorgeous one with temps around 80 and no humidity. I ran a bunch of errands (masked) to Home Depot, Lowe’s Home Improvement and the grocery store. After putting away the groceries, I almost finished the lawn but worked until both batteries were dead again.
Saturday, my arms hurt a bit this morning. I spent a lot of the day reading. I did go out and mow the last little bit. It’s just a little warmer today but no wind at all. I did some spot watering. Then I worked on some post setups. There are more to do though. I’m finally evening out the balance between ebooks and audio.
August Reading: I managed to read 24 books this month. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge. I listened to 7 audiobooks, read 8 library books, 24 COYER reads, and 2 books which I already own.

I couldn’t find anything I wanted at the Audible flash sale all week but I got these 2 at Chirp for $4.99 and 99¢.
And Audible started a new 2-1 sale where I found these two I wanted.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I read all types of books but my favorites are urban fantasy and romantic suspense.I like some romance and some action / adventure / mystery in everything.I like sex in my books but please, only between TWO people.Intimate conversation is equally important to the sex in a book.It lets me see the characters.The other thing I enjoy is humor.

Yet I still wish I could read more. This month was harder as more of my ARCs were ebooks instead of a mix with audio.

Ashley told me it had to do with a plug-in (from someone else) which hasn’t yet been updated. She did a fix for UBB.
Your Lulu pictures are always great. She is such a cutie! Thank you for sharing them with us. From now on I call you “busy bee” Anne *smile* Gosh, when I read all the things you are doing in your garden, I think of what I should do in the garden here. Currently I am doing some research to find me a fitting lawn trimmer who runs on battery. We have a big mowing machine for the entire house to use that needs petrol (which I hate). But with no basement or garage my garden tools have to be tiny… Happy reading.

It really helped that one night when my back was sore from the leaf sucker. It gets heavy and you have to direct the nozzle.
Lulu looks so cute posing there. Ugh about the yard work that never ends. We hired someone to come this weekend to cut down two very large trees which I was worried would fall over at some point since they were dying already.

Lulu is always the best. I was so happy the weather cooled down enough to do some yard work. There were a couple of weeks there that were just too hot. It meant there was a lot to do though. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the Duchess War. Courtney Milan is one of the few historical romance authors I will read.

My week was a whirlwind with the kids going back to school and me back to work. Luckily we have a 4-day weekend, and even went to the movies on Friday afternoon. Now it’s raining and cool, so I’ll try to get ahead on some blog work today. I’m way behind.

I hope the cooling trend continues just a bit. I have lots more I want to do also. We still aren’t getting any rain, maybe this week.
You reminded me that I really need to water my flowerbeds! I too have set a target of reading several owned books per month – I’ve not done nearly as well as you have, mainly because I’ve been visiting Netgalley far too often for my own good!

24 books in one month? Wow!Alson in October I have decided to take the plunge and stop using the plugin that allows me to blog without using Guttenberg. So I am dreading it!
The 24 books seems kind of low considering how much reading I have been doing but I was low on audio books so that’s how I fell behind. Now I’m more balanced. Good luck!
I had trouble reading as late as I wanted before bed because I kept starting to nod off as I was reading. Probably why I only got one book done last week, it was almost 500 pages to be fair though. I had to get in mowing this week too before we had rain, I didn’t want to have wet grass again, that is a pain! Plus I have a ditch in my front yard by the street that I hadn’t been able to mow or use the weed trimmer the last few weeks when I mowed because it had water in it. Oh well. Hope that you have a good week!
Thanks Lisa! I’m so glad to be caught up a bit and now have a holiday weekend. We need a little rain. I have that problem with reading at bedtime so I’ve been reading a little in the morning this past week.
It’s been over a year since I last listened to an audio book. My reading suffered quite a bit in August, but hopefully it will pick up again this month. It sounds like you had a good reading month! I remember that you wanted to get your yard work done so glad the weather cooperated and you were able mow, edge, and do the compost. Glad the Astounding Ashley got the plug in issue figured out quickly for you. Way to go getting through all your ebooks for August and back to your balanced stack of ebook and audio.

Wow, 24 books?! That’s impressive! I can’t imagine mowing my own lawn in the heat we have. Thank goodness we have gardener, although my husband would do it if we didn’t. There are cons to having a gardener, too. He keeps chopping up my ferns and star jasmine! Not happy, but I’m usually at work when he comes and my hubby who works remote most of the time happens to travel into the office the day he comes. *sigh* I used to mow the law when I was a kid and didn’t mind it then, but I didn’t live in such a hot location.
There are two Jill Shalvis books up on Netgalley that I want to request, but I’d like to get my outstandings down a bit before I do.
I try to do as much of my own stuff as I can, but when it’s really hot I have to wait a bit or just do parts at a time. This time was some of each. The lawn being so tall meant it took more battery power. I request what I want on Netgalley since I either don’t get everything and I only request if I put it on my calendar. 24 books is a little slow for me actually but I didn’t have as many audio books this month.

Hopefully this slightly cooler weather (low 80s) will continue instead of 90s.
We both have The Family You Make, and I hope we both really enjoy it. Your yard work sounds exhausting, but I’m sure it looks great!
I seem to love everything Jill Shalvis so it’s a good bet I will enjoy it. The yard work is ok if I keep up. But when it’s really hot or I want to give the new sod a chance to establish, I let it go a bit too long.
Oh my goodness, I would be sore too after all of that. I mowed the lawn today with our push mower and it was brutal. It was high 80’s and 90% humidity and I felt like I was dying. I’m definitely looking forward to cooler weather here.
It’s improving slowly. The worst months here are July and August. Today is mid 80s but the humidity is ok, so it seems nice.

Penny Reid is a favorite! I finished listening to book 1 of the Andrea Penrose series yesterday. I own most of them. This ARC is book 5 which releases at the end of the month.

It’s my own fault for letting it get out of hand. It’s staying more in the 80s now so I do a little all the time.

Yes I was lucky for the break in heat or I wouldn’t have been able to manage the yard work. I hate when I have any issues with computers so I was glad to have it resolved.
