What’s worse than finding a lost ship full of stolen humans? It’s finding out that your family is responsible. This is a wrong I have to somehow right, so I take off to find answers…and discover one of those kidnapped humans has stowed away on my ship.
She’s furious that I’ve deserted her friends. She’s determined to make me pay. Ruth swears vengeance and won’t be satisfied until she sees me destroyed. It’s a battle of wills I’m determined to win. Instead of breaking Ruth, I find that I’ll do just about anything to get her to kiss me again.
Now…who’s bending who?
Straik is having a bad time. There is a stowaway on his ship, his crew has lost confidence in him and might be planning a mutiny and he just found out his family are slavers and there is a ship with hundreds of abducted humans and clones Who can blame him that he panicked and abandoned the ship and some of his occupants while he figured out what to do? In the third book of the Corsair Brothers series we learn that maybe Staik isn’t really a bad guy, he just did the wrong thing in the moment so he could do the right thing down the road.
Ruth was spying on Straik’s ship when it left her friends on an abandoned cargo ship. Now she is hiding in the vents, sabotaging Straik’s clothing and making friends with a few of the crew. She will have her vengeance on this male who abandoned her friends. That is until he finds her in his tub and Ruth eventually figures out that maybe she can get what she really wants if she seduces him. Well game on, two can play at that and we will see who falls first.
I always have fun with any of Ruby Dixon’s series featuring big blue aliens and the humans they fall in love with. Who knew that blue aliens were my special kind of kink. They have been great stories full of fun plots and hot sexy times. Straik’s book was no exception to that. He is a broken hero, unloved by all of his family and left alone for so long he has no idea to do with a woman who genuinely sees him and cares about him. It has to be too good to be true. He and Ruth will need to outmaneuver bounty hunters sent by his mother, find somewhere to rehome a bunch of clones and humans and figure out this new relationship of theirs.
This series has had great individual stories for all the couples that are wrapping up to solve who is doing illegal cloning and how is Straik’s mother and the rest of his family involved. In the final book for this series specifically we will be able to figure it all out. Each individual story can be read alone but there is a lot to be said for going in order to get the magic of all of the couples and enjoying the world Ruby Dixon has built.
Narration:
Holly Jackson and Mason Lloyd are really fantastic narrators and do the entire series justice. They have been great at all of the Ruby Dixon books they’ve narrated together. Holly Jackson does great with the human female PoVs, bringing their character to life. I have enjoyed how Mason Lloyd has performed all of the big blue alien heart throbs in this series along with the others by Ruby Dixon. I was able to listen at my usual 1.5x speed.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with blue aliens in it. But, this sure sounds like fun.
