Sunday Post – 25 February 2024 @kimbacaffeinate @readingreality

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.  White Trash Zombie Apocalypse giveaway ends tonight.

Sunday,  I stayed up late last night reading so I didn’t set an alarm.  The Lulu bark alarm was in fine form. I did the usual visiting through Feedly and the Sunday post.  It’s just chilly and I don’t want to go out and walk today. I’m going a little nuts because I want to read a novella which is before the next book in the series. I’ve had it on hold at the library awhile and it came up once but I said deliver later because I wasn’t ready.  Anyway, I’ve been first in line for 1.5 weeks. There are 2 copies and it’s only 94 ! pages. We watched some Will Trent.  We are all about Betty!

Monday,  it feels like the lull before the storm. I put in a Walmart pickup. Some items are out of stock, but luckily my RX are ready at Harris Teeter so I can stop there for those. Harris Teeter didn’t have some of the things that Walmart didn’t have. We made a homemade pizza with gluten free pizza crust dough from Trader Joes and that crust was delicious!

Tuesday,  a nicer day.  We were happy to see Abby.  I did the usual Feedly visiting and responded to some comments.  I setup posts for new ARCs I received.  Late afternoon was making calls for the Democratic party.  We had fresh chard from the garden for dinner. I was going to grill but the tank was empty so I need to hook up a new one.  We watched some Will Trent while chanting, “Betty! Betty!”

Wednesday,  I woke up too early and couldn’t go back to sleep but feel drowsy. I finally got two ARCs I’d waiting for.   I couldn’t decided what audio to listen to and finally picked one (and ended up finishing it today) .  The weather was sunny and we had a nice walk.  I worked on the usual stuff until it was time to take my daughter to the chiro. Then I picked up a few things at Aldi.

Thursday,  I went out with Lulu and watered the garden a bit.  I’m still feeling very moody about what audio I want. I managed to get started into one while walking Lulu and Abby. My IFTTT app to auto share to Facebook has been offline for a week and I was finally able to reconnect it. It seems to happen periodically when Facebook makes changes. My daughter got a new trimmer for herself and decided to try it on Lulu.  Lulu looks like a shaved rat.

Friday, it’s raining.  I’ve had some small frustrations.  I wish Amazon / Audible would get back Kevin Hearne’s account so he could publish Canines & Cocktails,  and also put up the listing for Dervla McTiernan’s What Happened to Nina? (it’s already on Libro.fm).  And is the cover of Happily Never After by Lynn Painter the actual cover or a place holder? UGH. I picked up an order at Sam’s Club, and super sale Mountain Dew at Harris Teeter.  I created a bunch of posts while listening to my audiobook. My daughter needed examples for a short financial statements summary so I got out my very old Accounting textbook which had some examples.

Saturday, I started out working on FS Poster. I forgot that I planned to make soup tonight but I got it going while I made breakfast at 2pm.  Then I updated my Twitter API from v1 to v2 for FS Poster.  And I was able to connect Threads.  I tested the direct share by sharing Sarah’s Picky Eaters post.  It went to Threads! Twitter, Facebook and Mastodon.  I took Lulu for a walk between showers.  I feel like my reading is on track. I can’t believe February is now finally ending this week.  We don’t have a bunch of medical appts so I hope to work on taxes.

Things I Learned This Week:

OK  if I’m asking for help, I’m also going to share the cool things I learn. You may already know them but hopefully it will help someone.

Update on FSPoster.  The developer wanted me to load some software so he could access my computer to see what was happening.  I was to call him through Whatsapp when I was ready on Saturday.  I debated about whether I should do it.  I ended setting up my old computer which has almost nothing on it, and deleted some passwords in the manager. It turned out to be interesting.  He was able to share posts directly to Facebook, Instagram and Mastodon.  Twitter got errors.  Posts in the foreground worked but not in the background.  He’s going to send some new code next week.  I was about ready to give up.  After we hung up, I was able to fix the Twitter errors.  The API had been updated so I had to do a quick update in the developer portal.  And I was able to connect Threads!   Progress!

The 3 things I want to do are auto share posts daily,  share old posts 3 times daily,  and do direct share of info or deals.  The direct share is now working in the foreground.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Many thanks to Berkley (2), PICT tours, Minotaur Books (2),  Grand Central Publishing,  Penguin Audio,

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I purchased this one for $1.99.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Poor Lulu is looking a tad bare in places – at least her fur will grow back. I’ve just got hold of Pemberley – it is just what I’m looking for right now:)). Have a good week, Anne.

  2. Poor Lulu with her spotty haircut! At least the sweaters cover it when she’s outside. I watched a few of the episodes of Will Trent but didn’t finish the 1st season. Guess I need to since season 2 is out, right? I still need to write something for Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues so I can enter. I just have been so busy trying to get all my committed arcs done and dusted. I don’t know if I’ll be able to attend the chat for the next one because I’ll be in Cancun. I’ll have to see what’s on for that day as far as activities and what my internet connection will be.

  3. Oh no, poor Lulu! At least your daughter knows the trimmer works! Lol! I haven’t read or watched the Will Trent series, but it’s been on my TBR, and I’m just trying to decide if I should read the books first or watch the show first. I’m also really excited to read What Happened to Nina? It sounds really good! Enjoy your week ahead!

  4. That Deliver Later option is a blessing and a curse, lol. I have two books I told to deliver on March 1 and I think I might not get them until a week or more later. Oh well, I guess.

When I was gluten-free, testing it out because of IBS or IBD or whatever it is I have, Trader Joe’s was a life send. I’m glad you have one near you so you can have access to their selection.

I’m in awe that you can post on your blog while listening to an audiobook. If I do anything that involves writing or reading, then I tune out my audiobook. I listen best when I’m driving alone or crocheting because they’re both mindless activities.

I hope you have a great week!

  5. I’m loving novellas lately. I should probably shave my cat since she always has mats. We brush her a lot but it’s just her fur I think. I’m afraid to though.

  6. Curse you library hold timing! LOL I’ve got a couple books I’m waiting for and it is distracting knowing my turn is coming, but not precisely when. I got so little read or listened to this past week, but I hope to catch up a little if we get the snow that’s promised later in the week.
Fun haul of review books. I got that new Bruce Burgos, too.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  7. Dogs are such great alarms! Hopefully Lulu doesn’t mind her haircut! We had one dog who was so embarrassed after a bad trim he wouldn’t leave the wall! I hope this week has been going well.
