The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, it’s the usual Feedly and Sunday posts and plant watering. I packed up some of the chicken wild rice soup and took it over to my neighbor. Lulu just looked out the little front window like why am I not going? The weather is nice about 20C/ 68F. It’s supposed to be rainy off and on all week though. I managed to finish up the menu plan. I also did my reading plan for March. When my daughter got up, we took a nice walk on an almost medium route.
Monday, I got in the usual Feedly, commenting and setting up some posts. I wrote a review for the book I finished last night and used Canva to make a featured image. Lulu and I walked the medium route, no swans and it was not as windy as I expected. It was nice. I am making French bread to have with out leftover soup tonight. My daughter started her new class today and thinks it will be better than she thought. I keep searching every day on Audible for Canines and Cocktails, as well as What Happened to Nina? by Dervla McTiernan, for a week or so now.
Tuesday, it’s warmer today but cloudy. Abby and Lulu and I had a nice walk and visited with Spike. I did some of my usual tasks, then went to be a Democratic poll greeter at the primary elections. Then I decided to get a Papa Murphy’s pizza because I was out and got some more chard, a cauliflower and some spinach plants. We had the pizza early so then we watched tv with Lulu between us on the couch. She loves that.
Wednesday, it’s raining but not very hard. So I took an umbrella and put coats on Abby and Lulu. They did fine. Lulu even waited on the rug for me to take off her coat and harness and then dry her with a towel. I did my visiting and wrote a review.
Thursday, it was another nice day to walk with Abby and Lulu. Then I went to Discount Tire to have my tires checked for pressure and if they had been rotated. The pressure was good and they had been rotated at my last oil change. I went out and planted the additional chard, spinach and the one cauliflower plant. I’ve never had any luck with spinach here so we will see. It was easy in Minnesota. I watched the SOTU address.
Friday, Ashley and the FS Poster guy did some testing and figured out how to do somethings so there were several posts this morning. But I had to run. I was going to the Social Security office. I changed my name after my divorce on almost everything but my social security card. I had to wait in line 2 hours, then another hour but finally it’s done. They were closed for a few years during COVID and I wasn’t sending them my original documents to get lost. I checked on my plants and the snow peas I planted from seed are finally up! No sign of the lettuce or chard I planted from seed. So that’s why I got the new chard plants and spinach. I did some testing in FS Poster and some progress is being made. My daughter finished her assignments for this week. It’s the first week of her next class. I went to sleep early and it was great.
Saturday, I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep for 30 minutes this rainy morning. It was so dark I had to use lights in my bedroom which normally I don’t need in the morning. I did some testing and adjustments to FS Poster. What I call “Direct Share” and “Revive Old Posts” are working! I worked on setups for other posts. Lulu and I went out to walk as the rain was supposed to be ending. It was still sprinkling but we saw our neighbor and Abby and walked a very short way with them. I worked on a menu plan.
I am not looking forward to daylight savings time but I do like it being dark longer in the morning and light longer at night.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My sincere thanks to Macmillan Audio, Tantor Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I purchased these in a Chirp sale for $4-5 each.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Glad you’re getting some things finally figured back out with your blog and the poster thing. That’s so frustrating! I love Canva so much! I’m even going to take a continuing education class about it to get some graduate hours towards increasing my salary next year. Love that flower picture and adore Lulu’s pics as always! Hope you have a good week.
Thanks Lisa! Lulu has 8 toys in that picture as in all the toys are mine. lol FS Poster actually did the autoshare to all accounts this morning. It doesn’t have the tags I want but it’s the first time it posted.
Sounded like a productive, but nice easy-going week. I hope to start my seed trays in the next week or so and then set them in a south-facing window to get a start while things are still too crisp outside. It was a lovely week for walking, though. I like the longer evenings of light during gardening season, too. 🙂
Have a good week, Anne!
Thanks Sophia. It was nice to finish some things which have been on the list for months or years. I’m a little ahead on reviews even with #SIAM reading so I have much to be thankful for.
I love french bread. So good with soup. I’m not a fan of the time change either, I have always a ahrd time adjusting. You wouldn’t think a n hour difference would matter, but it does!
I’ve heard good things about the Taylor books.
I’m with you Greg. I like all the bread but I have to try not to eat too much. I’ve only started the Taylor series but I love it. It has all the scifi technology with interesting bits of history.
I am not looking forward to Daylight Saving times either Anne! I wish they’d just stop!
yes but I want them to stop with it like now. Darker in the morning and lighter at night and don’t change again.
Love the orchid😁 I need to learn Canva. Do you do it on your phone or computer? Just curious since I know there’s a phone app. Enjoy your weather, I wish ours would get into the 60s!
Thanks Tammy. Canva is easy. I use it on the computer. I am totally not good with graphics and I can sort of use it.
Gosh, that’s such a beauty of an orchid! I don’t like daylight savings either. I like that it’s brighter earlier in the mornings now, but I’m grumpy because I didn’t get enough sleep. I’m also waiting on my copy of What Happened to Nina? I hope we don’t have to wait too long!
Thank you. I love having my garden and my flowers inside and out. I got my ARC copy of What Happened to Nina? and it is on Audible now.
Daylight Savings Time already is throwing me off. Your books look good. I have a couple of them. Hope you enjoy them. Have a great week!
Thank you. yes DST will be a pain this week.
Sweet Lulu💜
I always find it hard to adjust to the time change initially but I eventually get there😏 Nice Nora Roberts haul, Anne. Have a great week!
Thank you Jonetta. Lulu of all the toys are mine, so cute.
My seedlings are coming up and it’s exciting! First time I’ve done that indoors. I have Swiss Chard but didn’t start it. I did arugula, baby gem lettuce, green onions, leeks, tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, and some flowers. I love cauliflower and broccoli and you seem to do well with them. Maybe I should give them a try. I plan to do zucchini, carrots and cucumber too, but they will be sown directly outside.
I wonder if there’s a way we can complain to Audible about Canines and Cocktails that would help Kevin Hearn. I bought those Nora Roberts too. Well, book 2 and 3 of the series as I already had book one from an Audible sale years ago. I listened to it and loved it, but the other books weren’t at my library (audios) so I was happy Chirp listed the sale!
So exciting to have all the gardening. Our favorite thing is Swiss Chard. The Broccoli and chard are fine through the winter here because while it gets to freezing it doesn’t stay there. I think carrots, beets and maybe green onions will also work in the winter here. I’ve also got asparagus but it takes a few years to establish. The only thing I do from seeds that works seem to be snow peas and green beans. That’s good because I haven’t see plants for those.
I wish we could help Kevin with that. It’s crazy.
I forgot to say also that it seems Nora Roberts audio are almost never at the library, only the newest ones. So I’ve been collecting ones on sale.
Yours sounded like a good week!
Thank you. I did finish up some tasks on the list a long time.
Sounds like you had a productive week! I love Daylight Savings time – it’s now after 7 PM before the sun sets here in Vancouver and it’s so welcome after short winter days.
Thank you Jodie. yes I love DST just not the changes. For me it should just stay now without changing the time again.
I use Canva a lot. You can do so much with it! I hate the time change and kind of forgot about how dark it will be when I am getting ready for work in the morning. We haven’t had our primary elections yet but it looks like the presidential race has been decided. Have a great week!
Thank you Carole. yes I know but before you know it the mornings will be lighter too. I prefer darker mornings to sleep later. I have really enjoyed Canva and I only use a tiny bit of it. And I’m horrible with graphics. Well there are lots of important races other than the Presidential. We had a lot of state offices where the primary mattered.
I vote in every election no matter what. It is just disappointing when something gets decided before your region even has an opportunity to voice their opinion.
I just got Canva so I’m still trying to learn how to use it. Sounds like you had a busy week! Here’s my SP: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2024/03/10/sunday-post-busy-busy-busy/
I found Canva pretty easy to learn and use. I hope you enjoy it.
I’m stalking audible for Canines and Cocktails and Speculations in Sin by Jennifer Ashley. I don’t know the delay for her audiobook, but her newsletter said “coming soon.” The whole mess for Hearne is ridiculous. It’s crazy that it’s not resolved by now. What are the Jodi Taylor books about? I like the cover.
My week last week was a whirlwind – home from vacation and trying to catch up. Plus my husband was traveling for work and I had to drive my daughter everywhere. I’m behind on reading and not doing a lot of socializing online at all.
Jen! The Jodi Taylor books are amazing. They are scfi along with lots of historical bits. You should try one. The #0.5 is short and gives you an idea. They are at the library and I think the first and maybe a novella or two are in AudiblePlus. The library selection is the first couple and the last couple so these are the in-between ones that aren’t there. The newer series Time Police is Audible only, and it’s related. I check every day even though I can’t read Canines & Cocktails until I read the other series. I’m hoping to do that in the next #SIAM as a buddy read with Berls.
TBH I struggle hard core with Nora Robert books. There have been a couple gems, but the rest I have read? Eh.
Well it’s possible I’m making a mistake. Many of Nora Roberts books are not available in libraries on audio so I am collecting ones which go on sale (on audio)
Your orchid looks lovely. Nice to see it was a productive week. Sweet book haul. Enjoy!
Thank you. Last week was productive.
Yay for progress on FS Poster! And also on your garden. And yay also for getting your Social Security card updated!
I’m not a fan of data savings time either, but it is kind of nice to have it stay light later in the afternoon, so my husband and I can go for walks when he gets home.
I got really excited when I saw the Nora Roberts audiobooks on sale. Then I checked my files and realized I already had them! One of these days I will read the Jodi Thomas books. I think I have the first one on Kindle.
Thank you Kara. yes I’ve been collecting Nora on audio when they are on sale since they are almost never on audio at the library. I just want it to stay DST so it is light later and not change again.
That really is a beautiful orchid – and you have clearly had a productive week with getting things done that were niggling on the To Do list:)). As for Saturday morning – I can empathise! We have had an insane amount of rain this winter and far too many mornings it’s frankly not worth opening the curtains. There is standing water everywhere and they are now giving flood warnings for groundwater, as it isn’t draining away because the ground is so sodden. Fortunately, we are on a small rise so are safe – for which I’m very grateful. Have a great week, Anne:).
Thank you Sarah. Our home is on the highest point in the neighborhood but we sometimes have some wet spots in the yard. I was glad to get things done which had been on the list a long time.
My daughter planted a small garden by our door. We aren’t allowed to have a large one but it’s big enough to have some herbs, radishes and microgreens.
That’s great Mary. There is something special about growing it yourself.
My cat gets me up at the most ungodly hours Every. Single. Night. so the time change went unnoticed by me. LOL
Mmmm French bread sounds so good right now!!!!
That’s really sweet that Lulu likes to lay in the middle for TV time.
Thank you Jinjer. Lulu also has all her toys in this week’s photo. So cute. Lulu never used to bark in the night. It’s only in the last year.
It’s been nice and spring like here. We’ve even opened the windows during the day to let in some of the fresh air. I like it when it’s light out later, but I’m with you about not caring for the darker mornings. I am always up before the sun comes up on work days because of my start time, but at least the day before the time change, it was not quite as dark when I started my work day. Now it’s completely dark again. I’m really curious about Black Wolf and hope you like it. The Jodi Taylor books all look good. I hope you enjoy all your new books. Have a great week, Anne!
Thank you Wendy. I do enjoy the Jodi Taylor books. They are sort of historical scifi which is a unique sort of genre. No I like the darker mornings so I can sleep later. lol. And I love the later light at night. Our weather is going to be downright balmy 80s the next couple days but we will be back to 50-60 next week.
The only nice thing about DST is that it gets dark later now. But other than that, I’m not enjoying it so far. Hope you have a great week and enjoy all your reads.
Thank you. I really like that light out later though.
Any week where you get something accomplished at the social security office is a productive week! I hope you’ve had a great week with reading you’re loving!
Thank you Katherine. I think that goes for any government office! I am in a frenzy over Maria Grace’s series of Jane Austen’s Dragons. I got the first one as a freebie Pemberley and recommend it highly. I am on the third one now and I have other commitments too but they are excellent.
A way belated visit back — sorry about that! Busy week. Looks like a good bunch of books; hope you enjoy!
Thank you Nicky. We all have those weeks. I am having the great books which makes everything better.
