Peter watched his new family drive away, certain it was the last time he'd ever see them. But sometimes plans go awry in the best way. Now, the plan is to get back to them. But sometimes plans go awry in the worst way.
Sometimes the only plan is to believe it will be all right, even when it's almost impossible to believe.
This short novella is not required to follow the series, but is a great addition. This story follows a different POV than the main series. There’s a spoiler for who this POV is if you haven’t read book one. View Spoiler »

Cassie Forrest could almost believe life at Kingdom Come Farm is perfect, with Adrian and her friends at her side and spring on the way. The spring thaw also means millions of defrosting zombies, however, and if the past year has taught her anything, it’s that life in this new world is highly imperfect.
When Safe Zones throughout the country begin to disappear and the zombies at the fences grow in number, Cassie clings to the hope that if she has the people she loves most, it will be all right. But the highly imperfect world makes only one guarantee—zombies never die, never stop and are never satiated.
This story is harder to read than the first one. There’s a lot more loss of life and it is very difficult. But this is a zombie story, so loss of life isn’t that unusual. View Spoiler »
There’s a lot of spoilers in this one, so I don’t want to go into too much. But I had a great time with this story. While it is a much tougher story than the first one, it is still a wonderful story. There are good moments amidst the dark parts of this story. I really look forward to seeing how the series ends. I have just one book left.
Narration:
Julia Whelan is a wonderful narrator. She’s part of the reason I picked up the first book. She’s a wonderful performer and really brings out the personality of every character. If you’ve never listened to her narrate a story, you’re really missing out.

I own some of these on Audible but haven’t gotten to reading them. It’s a genre I enjoy and I love this narrator.
I haven’t read a good zombiepocalypse in a while. Thanks for putting this series on my radar, Melanie.
Zombies… ew… I don’t want to survive! LOL
Wow!! Loving the sounds of this…the title….and the cover.
