Cassie Forrest has sworn she’ll never let the world get the best of her again.

She’s chosen to believe everything will be all right.

But on a journey filled with heartbreak and madness and zombies, Cassie and her friends must struggle to stay alive—and it’s hard to believe in a future when survival seems unlikely.

This one is bittersweet. I found this series fairly recently, even though it has been around almost a decade. This is a really good zombie series that starts with a group of friends in New York City who try to escape the city to get to Cassie’s deceased parents off grid/prepper home. Then they meet new people along the way, both good and bad. They go to safe zones where people are living in as much safety as one can in the zombie apocalypse.

Like in all zombie stories, humans tend to be the true monsters. Zombies aren’t evil, they are basically animals and just do what they do naturally. Humans, on the other hand, do horrible things for different reasons. There’s people who are hateful or evil and do bad things. But there’s also people who do bad things out of fear or selfishness.

I won’t go too much into this story because I don’t want to spoil the series. One thing I want to call out that I didn’t call out in the reviews of the previous books in the series. The titles have an interesting story. Book one, Until the End of the World, comes from Cassie telling her parents that she would love them until the end of the world. Then the second book, And After, is what she tells her new family after the world falls. The novella, So Long Lollipops, is from Cassie’s adopted child who says it instead of so long suckers. And then in this book, Cassie and her family start using the love you more than all the stars in the sky. I just love that tidbit from the series.

Another thing I do like about this series is that the series ends with a possible future without zombies in the near future. The characters go through so much throughout this series. They lose a lot of friends and chosen family members. It is nice to see that as close as a possible two years in the future, these characters might be able to start rebuilding society.

If you like zombie stories, I would highly recommend this Until the End of the World series. It was truly amazing and I was always disappointed when I got to the end of the series. I would also like to mention that while you don’t have to read the novella, that story does come up in this last book in the series. You can read this book and finish the series without having read it, it does add to the series.

Narration:

Julia Whelan did an amazing job with her performance. I really just fell into the story. I loved all of the character voices. I have listened to her before this series. So, I knew going in I would like her. I highly recommend her as a narrator.
