The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, it’s a cool day, just 61F / 16C. Thankfully, it rained overnight a bit so I don’t have to feel as badly about forgetting to water last night. I’m making soup in the crockpot. I also roasted chicken thighs to make a batch of Lulu food. Well something ate the swiss chard to the ground. AGAIN. The lettuce and broccoli are alright so far.
Monday, a chilly start but it will get warmer today. I notified the winners of the Gravity giveaway for the Read-along. I worked on my Mini-Challenge for the HoHoHo Readathon. It may have been cool this morning but out in the sun 2-4:30 was hot. My feet and back have started to talk to me about hours on concrete in the sun. It was slow today at the voting. The neighbor, my daughter and I walked Abby and Lulu at 5.
Tuesday, a day at home! I started writing reviews first while my daughter was still asleep. I set up all Sophia’s December posts, I set up some new ARCs I received. Then I set up the Top 10 of 2024 posts for Dec 23-28. I organized my HoHoHoRAT reads a bit. My daughter and I went to walk Lulu and ran into the neighbor and Abby so we walked back with them.
Wednesday, the temperature is up but it’s still cloudy. If the sun is out this afternoon it will feel hot. I wrote reviews again before my daughter got up. The sun was out but there was a good breeze and some clouds made it not sunny a bit of the time. We met a poll watcher who turned out to be another neighbor. After poll greeting, I saw Marley in the yard and she came over for pets. Then we all walked Abby and Lulu.
Thursday, another day at home. I’m debating if I can do more volunteering this weekend and on Election Day. I wrote a couple more reviews. I was feeling tired so I just read this afternoon. Lulu was sacked out napping. We did walk her later.
Friday, I did decide to do more. My daughter and I went to 2 hours of lit prep in the morning. After a quick stop, my neighbor and I went to poll greeting. Luckily it was cloudy which made it not as hot. The lines were much longer today. Tomorrow is the last day of early voting here. But 50% of registered voters have voted already. I hope more will turn out tomorrow. When we got home, my daughter and I walked Lulu. The neighbor said she wanted to volunteer on election day. I wasn’t going to but I looked it up and we got a shift from 5:15-6:30 which is pretty short. I couldn’t do the other one as my daughter has a doctor appt. I was so tired. I woke up at 3:30am and couldn’t go back to sleep so I was in bed and dozing by 8pm.
Saturday, I have much I want to do but I’m feeling lazy after yesterday. I picked some green peppers. I started emailing prize winners from the blogoversary, so watch out if you entered. I can’t believe October is over. I worked on a menu plan for the upcoming week. I did update all my links for Library Love and COYER for October reads. We did walk with Lulu. It’s cooler but still very nice. I’m not thrilled about Daylight Savings time. I’m making another batch of Lulu food.
Everyone be sure and VOTE!
October Reading: I had a better reading month. I managed to read 21 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge. I listened to 14 audiobooks, read 5 library books, 21 COYER reads, and 6 books which I already own.
All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog) 2024 Library Love Challenge
I did manage to read 6 books I own (goal is 3 per month):
- Tempted by the Gargoyle by Lisa Carlisle
- Stone Hearts by SE Wendel
- Awakening by Jenn Nixon
- 🎧 The Girl Beneath the Sea by Andrew Mayne
- To Die For by MA Comley
- To Silence Them by MA Comley
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Thanks so much to St. Martin’s Press, Elizabeth Hunter, Brilliance Audio.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I chose these 2 audiobooks in the Audible 2-1 credit sale.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
Chirp Friday freebies:
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I can’t believe october is over either. it went by so quick. and now I’ve got all this candy in the house.
It went so fast. We took the candy to give out at Early Voting.
October flew by!
Good for you for all of your hard work at the polls!
Thank you. I want everyone to vote and have a voice in the country.
Sweet Lulu💜
So proud of you for all your campaign volunteering! It’s so, so important. Glad you were able to find something in the 2-for-1 credit Audible sale. Maybe next time for me. I’m trying to hold off starting Bonded in Death but it’s hard.
Have a great week!
Thank you Jonetta. I’ll pick a holiday or a day I need rest and just read Bonded in Death all in one siting because that’s how it works, or maybe over 2 days. It’s fast to read because it is so good.
I love all your photos! I have voted and now we wait. It’s getting cold here, I have to wear socks which I hate, lol. I hope your week goes well, Anne😁
Thanks Tammy. Well I voted the first day and then I got to work poll greeting, lit prepping and other supports for the election. I’ve seen where you can learn to cure ballots at least I could take training to notify people who need to vote Tuesday because their ballot was rejected for some reason. I think it’s mostly mail in ballots. So there’s still more I can do.
Ooh, that First Light cover is beautiful! Did I miss your blogoversary? This month has been ridiculous with no time for visiting blogs! I noticed in my planner where I try to keep track that I hadn’t gone on a commenting spree across blogs since October 12th. Ugh. Hoping this month will be better for me for reading and visiting blogs! I still need to do my mini-challenge for HHHRAT too. I’m thinking maybe a scavenger hunt or bingo of some sort. I’ll be out voting on election day. I always vote on that day. Haven’t voted early since I was probably in college I think.
Well as long as you vote. But early voting is much less crowded and time-consuming. So I now always do early.
See, I have never had to wait in a line to vote. Don’t know if it’s just because I’m in a smaller district, but it’s always easy for me to walk in right after work and vote every single time.
You have been an awesome volunteer for the polls! Thats amazing! And you are already thinking about end of the year blog stuff! I don’t even have next week’s stuff ready!
Thank you. The election this year and honestly probably every time in the future is important enough that I need to do all I can. Top 10 posts are easier to set up because I don’t have to read a book for them. I don’t have all of this week’s posts finished up. Although I finished reading the last book for them yesterday.
It’s wonderful that you’ve been giving so much of your free time to help! I wonder how it’ll shake out! I’m kind of nervous about the outcome. It’s been cold here, but it’s supposed to get into the mid 60s this week. Should be beautiful! I don’t mind this time change because we get an extra hour and I don’t have to drive to work in the dark, but it would be nice if they just left the time the same all year. I need to make a meal plan for this week!
Thank you Rachel. I’m doing all I can because this election is so important. Probably they were important before and I don’t like politics. But I feel unable to not pay attention anymore. It’s still been so nice here. We will get to 80 again this week. I don’t like how it gets dark so early by 5:15 now. I don’t mind dark in the morning; it’s good for sleeping in. But with dogs this month, there won’t be sleeping in anyway.
It’s finally nice and cool here. I voted early.
Good for you Mary. I am glad the weather is more pleasant now.
October went by so fast! I’m so thankful to you and all the other people volunteering for the Democratic campaign, since I wasn’t able to do much this year (other than donate.)
It got hot here this week, too; we hit or surpassed 80 F several days in a row. It’s cooler today, but going back up into the upper 70s later in the week.
Thank you. I feel like I need to do everything I can with such serious consequences. The nice weather has made it all easier.
That’s nice you volunteer at the polls. I voted with my kids today and there was no line. Lulu looks cozy over there. We’re in a draught here, we haven’t had rain in many weeks so there’s a fire ban going, no firepits, fireworks etc.
Enjoy your books this week. 21 books for October is great.
I’m glad you were able to vote. Saturday, yesterday was the last day of early voting in our county. We really haven’t had much rain in October and we didn’t in June either.
I can’t believe how fast October went either. You had a great reading month. It’s so wonderful how much you volunteer for the election. It’s greatly appreciated. Thank you for all you do. It’s going to be a stressful week.
Thank you Yvonne. October did go so fast. I just tried to do what I could. I had trouble reading at night so it’s less ebooks than normal.
Nice job with all your hard work at the polls. It sounds like another busy, but predictive week. The First Light cover is lovely. Like your book haul. Hope you enjoy all those books. Have a great week!
Thank you Angela. I just want to get past the election before I tackle any more stuff.
Great book haul! I love seeing those holiday reads in there. I hope you have a great week and we in Canada will be following the election results as well.
Thank you Jodie. I’m a big fan of Canada. We are all in one world after all.
Way to go getting so much done this week with your poll volunteering, writing reviews, yardwork, and all. This was a crazy busy week for me and its leaf season so at least when I missed my walk earlier, I was still getting a work out. 🙂
Nice reading and challenge totals for the month. Nice that you doubled your TBR shelf reading.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. Our leaf battle has barely begun, although my back yard is ready. I only have one tree in front and it is not doing much yet. I’ve been too focused on the election to do much leaf work in the backyard but it’s coming. It’s also been warm, even 80 some days each week so I’ve got lots of garden still producing. That yard work will have to wait until those crops are finished.
Thank you for volunteering to work the polls! Just one more day, and then the court cases begin. And what an amazing book haul!
Thank you Olivia. I do what I can. I almost quoted a character in a Marie Force series – I do what I can for the people. The after the election is concerning.
Hope you have a great week and enjoy all your books. Eve and Roarke are always a hit and I’m also excited about the Ali Hazelwood story.
Thank you. I’m saving the Ali Hazelwood for HoHoHoRAT . The JD Robb as soon as I have a day I can just read and relax.
Sounds like a pretty good week. My state doesn’t offer early voting, so I’ll be heading to the polls tomorrow. I had a lovely weekend – I got to spend the day with my bestie and our daughters yesterday. That filled my soul and spirit during these stressful times. Weather here has turned cold – it was only 30 when I woke. But it’s supposed to hit 70 again on Wednesday. Crazy weather!
That will be a busy election day with no early voting. We had lines some days WITH early voting. I’m glad to have it out of the way early. It looks like the weather will continue nice here with some 80 days. It was upper 60s this past weekend though. Our leaves are starting to turn but my tree in front hasn’t turned, although the backyard has and are falling. I see more yardwork in my future.
Good for you for volunteering! I just checked to see if there are any election-related volunteer needs near me, but it looks like I’m too late. I couldn’t find anything. But my vote is in, and I’m doing my best to spread the word to make sure friends and family are voting!!
I get tons of volunteer emails for phone banking, GOTV canvassing and curing votes and providing rides and poll greeting even tomorrow on election day.
That picture of Lulu is so cozy!! I love it so much and I wish I could snuggle in there with her too! I think it’s awesome that you volunteered your time and did so much to research and share more information about voting throughout the last few months too! I can see how passionate you are about it and I admire that so much!
Thank you. I think everyone should vote.
50% of registered voters, wow! We don’t get turnout like that here (maybe 30% I think I read?), but I think that’s 30% of the population rather than 30% of those on the electoral roll… so maybe it’s hard to compare. Anyway, wow! Good luck with the volunteering.
Thank you. It’s important election this year, probably they all are and I never paid attention until the last decade. I hope we beat the orange menace.
Love the photos and sounds like you had a good week. I love the Audible sales though I don’t always find something I want. I love the C.S. Harris series and enjoyed that one. I hope you’re having a great week!
Thank you Katherine. I need to catch up with the CS Harris series.
I would love to work the polls one time. I think that would be cool. Not sure how you get that job.
I’m not a paid worker but I think you can apply at the board of elections office. I was a volunteer (unpaid) poll greeter, handing out information on candidates I supported.
It’s wonderful that you volunteered at the polls. Early voting where I live has a longer wait than just waiting until Election Day so that’s when we vote.
Your Christmas freebies look like books I’d enjoy.
I do the HoHoHoRat some years so I have to grab those Christmas freebies! Of course I have about 200 of them and won’t be able to read them all in 2 weeks. lol
