The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Steel’s Edge giveaway ends tonight!

Sunday, Lulu made sure I got up on time. It’s weird because she almost never barks.  I went out with Lulu and Marley and got their breakfasts.  Neither seemed that interested in their food.  Now we are in the office being quiet until my daughter wakes up which will be about 3 hours. I did lots of blog visiting and wrote a review.  When my daughter got up, we took them for a walk.  We saw the neighbor who said Abbey wasn’t feeling very well.  Marley barked at Clover which confused Lulu.  We had to tell them all it was ok, Clover is our friend. It’s spring break this week for my daughter. We don’t have any plans.  We had a nice chat for Steel’s Edge.  Now it’s on to Innkeeper Chronicles. The neighbor came over to pick up Marley.  My daughter didn’t want to practice driving so I mowed the front yard.  I’ve only been doing half at a time. As soon as I started, Marley ran over for some pets. It’s like she didn’t spend all morning and afternoon with me!  I also got to see Abbey while I was out in the yard. Then I got my daughter to spot me in the garage for the last garage door fix idea.  It was just to pull the power and then replug it in to reset.  But the outlet is on the ceiling and about 14 feet up.  I have an 8 foot ladder but it felt dicey.  I did just reach it to unplug.  We chatted a couple minutes and I plugged it back in.  My daughter went over and hit the button and it worked!  Up, then again and it went down!  I picked chard from the garden for dinner.

Monday, I did a bunch of chores in the morning. It’s another really nice day but it will warm up to pretty hot later in the week.  I went to pick up a few things at Harris Teeter and the Rx. Then we walked Lulu.  When I looked at the Rx I realized it was wrong.  They gave only 1 instead of 3 for a 90 day script.  So I called and they said yes inventory showed they had 2 extra so I went back to pick it up.  It’s just exhausting to have to do other people’s jobs and fix their mistakes.

Tuesday,  a relaxing day at home. I listened to audiobooks and did the usual chores.

Wednesday,  the weather is heating up.  At least there’s a breeze.  I wrote some reviews. I got together items for a Walmart pickup tomorrow. My lemon verbena plant arrived. I had to order it, no one seemed to have it locally. It’s an annual and came from California. I checked out some books on Hoopla so they would add to my April total and I would have some left for May, getting read for the COYER May RAT of Catch Up/ Finish Up in a Series. We walked Lulu a bit later so it would start to cool down or at least the sun would be at a lower angle.  Then I picked beets and planted the lemon verbena and zucchini plants.  We picked a lot of the lettuce as it looks like it is getting older.

Thursday, I expected it to be hot but the humidity was low so it was nice.  We got our MyBread order before we went on afternoon errands.  I did some computer stuff in the morning and then we went to take my daughter to PT. I walked Lulu while she was in her appt, then we picked up at Walmart on the way home.   Our farm box was there when we got home. I grilled and made roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus from the farm box.  I’m watering a bit every day because we aren’t getting much rain.

Friday,  my daughter had an appt at 11am.   I’m enjoying a day at home which means chores and phone calls. We walked Lulu and the weather was nice.  My daughter checked and she got an A in her last class.   We got her signed up for her next class – Ethics-  which starts Monday and bought her books.  When we went to print the receipts, the printer failed.  I’ve re-bought the same printer used 3 times since the original one about 15 years ago.  This time I decided to just get a newer version.   I watered the gardens and flowers and then it thundered and rained quite a lot. Another peony bloomed and the snow peas are finally producing.

Saturday, I got up and went right out to get the printer on the front porch and hauled it upstairs to the office.  I worked on a couple reviews, the next Read-along post, after the usual blog visiting. We walked Lulu and saw people headed to the pool which opened today. I noticed the third peony which is dark pink is just starting to bloom. I made some guacamole to tide us over until dinner since I was running late.  Sadly, I saw there is a polio outbreak in the county.  The current government making measles, whooping cough and polio widespread again.  Luckily, my daughter and I are vaccinated.  I even had the smallpox vaccine when I was little if things get really wild. Finally after writing another review I got the printer setup. It went ok.  The instructions were not quite complete.  I got a free year of ink so I had to sign up for their Instant Ink deal.

I purchased 2 items on sale at Audible.

I purchased these for $3 and $4 at Chirp.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Polio now too??? What the heck! This is insane.

We are still having cold nights around here, like 40 degrees so I am nervous to buy any outdoor plants right now. We were only going to do a very small amount of herbs but I don’t want them to die.

  2. You are always so industrious and get stuff done. Love that your blooms are coming to your peonies- one of my favorite bushes in the yard in bloom. I just found out wisteria will grow here and now I want one. 🙂 Funny about Marley rushing over to visit you after you’d just dog set her. Hopefully the new printer edition will work better for you.
Looking good on your challenges and especially doubling down on your TBR goal.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  3. A beautiful peony! I’m always amazed by your gardening skills. And it’s lovely that Lulu gets along so well with the other dogs in your area, especially Marley. Good luck to your daughter in her new class, and with her driving lessons. I’m glad you were able to get the garage door opening properly again. And I hope your new printer does well for you.

A polio outbreak?!!! Seriously? Wow. (smh) I thought we had basically eradicated polio from the US. It infuriates me that so many people have swallowed all this anti-vax, anti-medical misinformation and are thereby risking everyone’s health. (And I say that as someone who is open to alternative medicine—as a supplement to traditional western medicine, not a substitute for it.)

Have a good week, Anne, and take care!

  4. Your weather sounds so nice. When I was in Philly last week, it was perfect. Now I’m home and it’s cooler and rainy. Oh well. We did have a surprisingly nice half day on Saturday, so we were able to mow the grass (first cut of the year) and get some left over leaves and sticks picked up. Then we went to see my daughter’s dance recital at college. Both kids move back home this coming week.

  5. I planted my zucchini this week, too. I think I have too many of them though. Your peony is so beautiful! It is annoying when you realize the sales people missed something and you’ve already left. Very time consuming. I enjoyed The Monkeywrench series! Way more than the new series without her mother now that she passed. You have a polio outbreak? That’s nuts! My husband and I made sure we still had immunity with MMR because after so many years your protection can be diminished. I had just had a booster when I moved here three years ago because of requirements from the hospital I work at and my husband just got revaccinated. We made sure because we travel to Texas quiet a bit with my daughter living there and they’ve had a measles outbreak, as I’m sure you’ve seen in the news. It’s sad that these old diseases are coming around again because of misinformation!

  6. My daughter rarely sleeps in (what kind of teenager is she?), but she did this morning, and so I know she’s still not feeling great. I’m glad she did because she needs the rest. Your so good, trying to stay quiet while your daughter sleeps. My dad was never so nice for me and my brother. LOL I am so glad we are vaccinated too. I’m slowly catching up to your numbers reading wise. LOL I’m not really trying. I don’t know what happened this past month. I don’t think I can pull off as many as I did again. The Love Haters caught my attention. I think I have another of Katherine Center’s books on my TBR I need to read. If I like it, I’ll have to look for The Love Haters. I hope you enjoy your books and have a great week, Anne!

  7. Wow, you did a great job in April and congrats on reading some of your own books! The pharmacy we use has been having some ups and downs and unfortunately, it’s always the customer who gets shafted. We ended up going through an ordering service for one of Mr. Barb’s meds because it was such a hassle. I am half-way through Clean Sweep and really enjoying. Hope to finish it tonight!
