The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.  Clean Sweep Giveaway ends tonight!

Sunday, a pleasant start with no barking.  I did the usual blog visiting. My eyes are runny / itchy with a little allergy effect and my nose a bit too this morning. We had a good group for the Chat on Clean Sweep.  It as about half and half people who had read it before and who it was the very first time.  We walked Lulu, then I mowed the back yard and did some weeding.

Monday,  when I took Lulu out I finished taking out the snow pea plant and pulled more weeds.  I removed 2 of the lettuce plants which are finished and have only one left.  Tomorrow will be 5-10 degrees cooler so I will mow the front, harvest more of the cool crops and get the last tomato planted and maybe some other warm crops seeded.  More of the daylilies are blooming! We walked Lulu at midday before it got too hot. My daughter helped me get ready for the Democratic meeting by polishing my toenails.  We went to the Garner Dems get together.  It was fun as I got to see many elected people who represent our area.  The group is going to meet on the third Monday of the month.  Our town is having municipal elections this year.  I got to meet and talk to a candidate and learn more about existing town council members.  Most exciting for me was meeting Blair Reeves who is head of Carolina Forward and does some great videos on various issues.   The bar is dog friendly so next time we could even bring Lulu.

Tuesday,  today is cooler than yesterday and tomorrow so I need to get out and do the yard work. I went out to put the weed n feed in the back yard. I pulled weeds and picked more carrots.  I finally planted the tomato plant and marigold.  We walked Lulu. I made another batch of Lulu food because the food I made earlier in the week I accidentally left out on the counter overnight. UGH.  I started the grill and put on the chicken and veggies, then when I went back to check the grill was off, the tank was empty.  So then I had to swap out tanks.

Wednesday,  it already seems hot. We walked Lulu midday. The referral the doctor gave for an ENT doesn’t take our insurance so we called a couple from the insurance website and the earliest appt we could get was June 10.  In the afternoon,  Lulu had her annual checkup.  Then we stopped at Aldi for a couple items.  I chased a squirrel away from the garden that was near the new tomato plant and watered everything a bit.

Thursday, the spinach is starting to finish so I picked some for breakfast. I wrote a few reviews.  My daughter’s medications arrived which was a relief.  It was a comfortable day working on various tasks. We walked Lulu. I prepared for garden things tomorrow.  I picked more of the lettuce which is nearly finished.

Friday, when I took Lulu out I opened the gate and Marley raced through the yard to say hello. She didn’t even stop for any pets! After lunch, my daughter helped me bend my cattle panels.  I used my older taller ones to plant pole beans where the lettuce used to be.  The beets will be done soon and I’ll put zucchini there.  We walked Lulu.  It’s a bit windy and so nicely cool.

Saturday, Marley did another zoom and sniff when we went out this morning. I managed to get up and going in time for the Democratic convention. I watched the elections and the resolutions.  Then I did the typical blog visiting and preparing posts. I’m doing some little chores.  We walked Lulu and it’s so nice outside.

This next week is going to be really nice in the 70s (23-24C) with some rain later in the week.

The Naturalist Audiobook By Andrew Mayne cover art

I bought this one for $1.99 since I owned the Kindle version (got as a freebie).

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Your lilies are beautiful – and yes… staying in the 70s would be perfect:). It’s got cooler here again, we’re in the 50s today and we have a strong easterly wind so it’s got a chilly edge. But we had lots of rain last night which we’re desperate for. Have a great week, Anne:)).

  2. Sounded like a lovely week of steady tasks and events. One needs those kind of weeks to recharge. I was planning to put my veggie garden seedlings in, but our temps are still flirting with with frost in the pre-dawn and not really warming up during the day, but some of the cool temp plants like the strawberries, lettuce and beans are doing well.
Yay for getting Her First Mistake and others in the haul.

Have a good week and a Happy Memorial Day, Anne!

  3. Sounds like a busy week. I would like to grow veg. We have a few bits but they die. It doesn’t help that we have the tiniest garden imaginable and it is concrete. To get a lawn we have covered the concrete in AstroTurf. It is softer than our carpet indoors. The only downside is that it gets so hot, much hotter than grass would get.

Have a great week and enjoy all your books.

  4. We had some cold days this past week here! On Thursday, the high was 58! I wore a sweatshirt for the last day of school! I love that you are so involved in local and national politics!

  5. It’s cooled down a bit here after being unseasonably hot, and it’s such a relief. I’m not made for higher temperatures, haha (even though I know the UK usually doesn’t get nearly as hot as a lot of other places suffer, still, we also don’t have air conditioning in private homes most of the time). Hope your good weather lasts. 😀

And hope you have a good reading week!

  6. I feel like it has done nothing but rain all month. It’s kept things from getting too hot though you can basically feel the humidity! At this point I’ll be glad for heat if it means it’s quit raining! Though I’m sure I’ll change my mind in August or so after a few months of crazy heat. The Jill Shalvis is on my TBR. I can’t wait to read it. I hope you’re having a great week!

  7. I did have fun on the chat. I need to check the date on the next one. I may be out of town. Sounds like your garden is doing well. I need to do a bunch of trimming. My cilantro, carrots and arugula are flowering. It’s crazy how fast they grow. My tomatoes are flowering and we have a couple on the vine.

I’m trying to catch up. I’ve been in Montana for a week. Just got back yesterday.

  8. Oh, I’m way behind on my blog visits. The democratic event at the bar sounds like it was a good time – love that you could bring Lulu. My week so far has been busy with work and getting chores done. It went by quick with the Monday holiday.
