The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I saw a new lily blooming in the backyard which is fenced and more safe from the deer. I did the usual visiting, along with some chores. I had yummy fresh green beans for lunch. We walked Lulu and it was just a little more warm than I like but some breeze.
Monday, my daughter’s ears are still hurting but the ENT appt isn’t until next week. Today has a north wind so I wanted to do yard work. I mowed the front yard, along with putting the extra mulch I had around the tree in the front yard. Then I used the scary hedge trimmer without injuring myself or others, and trimmed the two bush-trees on either corner of the front side of the house. I was such a sweaty mess so then I showered for the second time today. I let my daughter walk Lulu without me.
Tuesday, Happy 29th Birthday to my daughter. I picked probably the last of the spinach to have in my eggs. I’m making the Tomato sausage Tortellini soup she wanted for dinner in the crockpot. Len is supposed to come today and trim the bush-tree tops that I can’t reach on my own with the hedge trimmer. It’s a south wind, so hotter than yesterday. Len did an amazing job with the trimming. I prepared paperwork for meeting with the neurologist on Thursday. I gave my daughter a couple small gifts and luckily, she loved them. One was a guess and it turned out she had been wanting one. She then got me hooked on Project Runway.
Wednesday, today is warmer but so far it’s not getting as hot as they projected and the humidity is low. I wrote a review. My daughter had a nutrition appt. We walked Lulu and I found more deer munching. I also remember I had some Repel all for when squirrels wanted to rip the patio furniture cushions. It says it’s safe for plants so I sprayed all the plants outside the fence.
Thursday, today was rainy most of the day. I had a little time at home to do the usual things before we took off for my daughter’s neurology checkup. We did want to ask questions about if she still needed certain medications because she’s now using one that works and also if the dosages should be any different since she has lost 50 pounds. We may try reducing one of the medications after the ENT appt next week. We got to meet the amazing nurse Katie who helped us last year and she gave us another month of samples of the Qulipta which is working well. My daughter had no migraines at all in May. She’s having only 2 or 3 days a month since she started the Qulipta and the abortive medications are working well to end the migraine that day. We shopped for a few items at Wegmans and Trader Joes.
Friday, Lulu woke me too early and I couldn’t get back to sleep. My throat was a bit sore so I’ve been enjoying the tea all day. I sprayed with Repel All again since it rained yesterday. My daughter and I cleaned up a bit since the neighbor and Abbey were coming over this afternoon. She is teaching us to play canasta. They played awhile and then walked Abbey and Lulu. My bedside lamp has been flickering and then it wouldn’t turn on. I got a new bulb for it but that didn’t work either. So now I’m using my power outage / camping lantern.
Saturday, Lulu woke me but at least it was not as early. We were kind of relaxed and felt tired today. The daylilies seem to be resilient, coming back a bit. So I’ll probably get a few flowers. I looked at the options in the whole site Audible sale. This next week will be a hot one with medical appts every day but Friday.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Many thanks to Brilliance Audio(2), Harlequin Romantic Suspense, Ace Books.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
NOTHING but there will be the Audible Site wide sale items next week.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
Chirp Friday freebies:
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Sweet Lulu💜 I could never get my pooch to do that!
I got the Jess Lourey book, too. Love that series. That Lily is gorgeous!!! Have a great week, Anne!
We didn’t teach Lulu to do that. She just does it when she wants to get our attention. She’s scary accurate about time for when we usually walk and when it’s time for dinner, too! I don’t know why other than the MN setting but I love this crazy Jess Loury series.
Happy birthday to your daughter! Lulu looks like she wants a treat😁 I wish we had deer around. I live in the mountains and have yet to see a deer, bear or mountain lion, which are up here but mostly avoid the middle of town where we are.
Have a good week!
Thank you Tammy. I don’t think you do want all that wildlife – it can do a LOT of damage. Lulu never wants a treat other than human food but she doesn’t sit up like that for it. She never begs for food and doesn’t like dog treats. She sits like that when it’s time to walk or eat dinner and she really hits the normal time accurately.
I got the Kylie Gilmore freebie too! So glad the medication is helping your daughter with her migraines! I can’t believe she’s 29 years old! Happy birthday to her! I’m still waiting on my lilies to bloom. All the greenery is there, but no flowers yet. Sounds like a busy week with a lot of good things. Hope this week is good too! Oh yeah, Lulu is adorable! Dora will sit up like that, but not Argyle. I think he’s too long and skinny to do it, lol.
Thanks Lisa. The daylilies are coming back although there will be less now. We don’t try to get Lulu to do that she just does it when she wants our attention, but never for food.
Best wishes for your daughter’s b-day and congrats on the super weight loss work. Also good news the migraines haven’t been hitting. Hopefully your squirrel repellent will keep the deer away from your blooms. Good on you for not severing a limb (your own limb, that is) when doing the bushes. LOL
Have a great week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. My daughter has made a lot of good progress. Right now we just have to find a solution to this ear infection which has been almost a month. That hedge trimmer is scary.
It is frustrating when the deer munch on flowers. Hope your Repel works. I think our spinach is just about done, too. I shopped the Audible sale (as you know) and I may take another look before it ends tonight. I just requested the Patricia Briggs. I hope we get a new story in there and it’s not just the short stories we’ve already read. I’m looking forward to hearing more on Asil’s new romance! I hope your throat feels better!
Thank you Rachel. My throat was better by later in the day. I also got the Deer Mace but remembered I had the Repel and thought I would try that before it arrived. It seems to be working and the daylilies are reviving. It’s raining a bit every couple days so I suppose I need to spray after each rain? I’m pretty sure I read there are 2 new stories in the Patricia Briggs book. I heard her read the first one at DragonCon in 2017 and she was excellent. She is also so nice.
Yes, unfortunately you do have to respray after it rains. Hope it works for you! I love all of Briggs’ stories, but I’m always excited for something new from her!
I just rejoined Audible after using up my credits over the past 6 months so I must check out the sale that everyone is taking advantage of! I’m glad your daughter has had some relief with the medication. Have a great week!
Thank you Jodie. Sometimes it just feels like we solve one of her issues and another one pops up. She never gets any rest and relief from pain. But we certainly have improved 5 areas and now if she can stop having ear infections that will be good.
Happy Birthday to your daughter! Your books all look so good. I hope you have a great week!
Thanks Yvonne. It’s going to be busy and hot this week.
Felicidades 🎇
Thank you.
Ugh, hope the ENT appointment manages to resolve things, or at least get things on the road there! That kind of pain can be miserable, hope your daughter’s weathering it okay. Sounds like a busy week!
The new books look fun, hope you enjoy — I need to read more of Patricia Briggs’ work.
Thank you Nicky. It is miserable and she rarely complains. Patricia Briggs is one of my top favorite authors and an auto-read one.
That is awesome that your daughter’s medication is working so well!! I hope she feels better soon though with her ears.
Homemaker looks good!!
Thanks Erin. This week will have lots of medical appts. At least we are working through the issues, but I wish no new ones would be happening.
Nice book haul. Happy Reading!
Thank you!
I think I played canasta when I was little, but I can’t recall now. Is the new P Thompson ARC in audio? I have to add it to my review schedule! We aren’t ready for lilies yet… the iris and clematis are in full bloom.
I liked all kinds of card games but had not played canasta. Do you mean the Briggs book? I think it will have audio.
HAhA… yes P. Briggs or M Thompson. I mixed their names together! I hate waiting for the audiobook!
Hope you have a wonderful week! Love playing canasta. We don’t do it often enough. Happy birthday to your daughter!
Thank you! We like cards.
I’ve never played canasta but it does sound fun. I love the lily – what a gorgeous color! I hope you’re having a great week and your daughter’s ears are feeling better.
Thank you Katherine. We have found more about her ears. I have more lilies on this week’s post.
The way Lulu is getting your attention? We called that “sit pretty” when we trained Calleigh. She knew that was the way to everyone’s heart. I hope the ENT can help your daughter. I know how frustrating ear problems are.
We didn’t teach Lulu that but she does it. The ENT gave us more info and she’s feeling better.
Sounds like your daughter is doing much better and tell her congratulations on losing so much weight. That’s awesome. That picture of Lulu is probably one of my favorites of all time. She is so adorable. My pups went to the vet last week and all is well but they needed vaccines. Zekey hasn’t been in a car much and he is the first we have had that hates car rides. You got some good looing books here. I need to check out the Patricia Briggs.
Thank you Barb. Lulu is our best girl. My daughter has been feeling better and the weight loss has really helped her muscle / joint issues.
Wow! 50 pounds lost is crazy. Hope the doctors figure out what’s best with her medications.
Thanks Nicole. The weight loss has really helped with her muscle / joint issues. We have had many issues we have worked through and mostly done.
Eekkkk Patricia Briggs!!!
She’s a top favorite
