She's about to make a deal with the college bad boy...
Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she's carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush's attention, she'll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice... even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.
...and it's going to be oh so good.
All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he's worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he's all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn't take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn't going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.
People have told me they love The Deal and were surprised it was a freebie. I think it’s a great way for an author to get people started on their series. The setting of college students in new adult with some people still not very mature. It’s a time of trying out ideas and learning what you need and want.
Garrett was definitely an alpha male kind of guy which at times was a little too cocky for me. But he really cared about Hannah. They developed a really good friendship and she was great for him with their banter and teasing of each other. She always called him on any shit. Their compassion for each other and the difficulties of their lives was excellent. I really loved this and it gave me all the feels. I will definitely be reading the rest of the Off-Campus series over the year.
These are only Kindle freebies I get, or ones through author newsletters which anyone can sign up and get for free. I don’t include things like Kindle Unlimited or Prime Free Reading (I do have it). Both Tantor and Audible have occasional free audios (to anyone) and I do include those. Since I one-click on 1-2 freebies a day or probably at least 5 a week, I came up with this feature to make sure I start reading them.
So I have thought about doing a Thrifty Thursday Challenge someday. For now, what I think would be fun is if you have read and reviewed a freebie, link up to your review (Goodreads, blog, facebook or wherever) below.

I picked this up as a freebie too so I am glad you enjoyed it. When the mood strikes. Like you I have a long KU list I am working on
I really enjoyed it and it did bring some laughs and a wide range of feels.
I really enjoyed this one, it was my favorite in the series
YAY! I plan to read more in this series too.
I read this one a couple years ago and enjoyed it so much. It actually had more depth than I was expecting (with Hannah’s back story) and it was impossible not to fall for Garrett. 🙂 I can’t believe I haven’t gobbled up the rest of the series. I need to get on that soon!
That’s how I felt. There was much more here than just a simple romance. The villains were maybe a bit cliche. But I felt and cared and loved this story.
Glad you enjoyed this, Anne! Love it when a freebie works out.
I know. I’ve really had an amazing amount of great freebies to read over the years. Most often the best are like this, the first in a series.
This is a new author for me. I have so many books I’ve grabbed that are needing my attention.
I have that issue. I read her Killer Instincts books. The books all start with Midnight… it’s a group of ex-military men and female assassins are their allies, sort of. Romantic suspense is a fav of mine but I loved this also.
I grabbed this one when I saw it was free. I have heard great things about it but am very happy to see that you like it since I know we share somewhat similar tastes.
Yes i enjoyed it. I cared about them and there was some humor (at least I thought so). Both Garrett and Hannah have some dark things in their pasts, not their fault, but it affected them.
I absolutely loved this series. I did them on audiobook. The narrator for the first two does such an AMAZING job. Then the second two are m/f dual narration. Also good, but I loved the original. I hope you get to the others.
Me too. I will have to see if I can get some on audio even.
Wonderful review, Anne! I love to keep an eye on the freebies, too!
I have them so this is my effort at reading them. The first in series ones from authors are often amazing.
Whoa…that cover woke me up. lol
It’s from the preferred class of book covers “men who lost their shirts”. *snickers*
