Following six months of intense training under some of the country’s most skilled potion masters, Holly’s head is full to the brim.

When she’s offered a new assignment with the Supernatural Protection Agency, she jumps at the chance to take her newfound skills out of the workshop and into the real world.

What she didn’t expect was to wind up tailing a suspected werewolf killer right in her own backyard.

Literally.

When another werewolf turns up dead, Holly and her roommates are locked in a race against time and the killer might be even closer than they think.

One Bad Witch is the sixth full-length novel in Danielle Garrett’s Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries series. Perfect for paranormal mystery fans who like a strong heroine and a big dose of magic and humor. .

I am finally reviewing back in the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries.  I’ve been scrambling to get up to date by reading this series using Kindle Unlimited. I think the books have gotten better.  Witch Way Home is my favorite in the series so far, as Holly starts to take action to learn skills and improve her life. She continues to do so, and makes further choices towards her future in One Bad Witch.

I’m not a big fan of Adam but we don’t get as much of him (similar to Lucas in the Ghost Mysteries) other than he lives in the house, so he is around more. We mostly get Holly’s frustration with him as he is protective and ignores her capabilities somewhat.  I’m more fond of Nick, or I was until this book where he doesn’t listen to Holly at all.

The mystery is frighteningly close to home and Holly is not too happy to be working with the SPA to gather information.  She is instrumental in solving the case. It makes her consider what she really wants. At the end, she and Adam finally talk about their wishes for the future and the present.

Narration:

Amanda Ronconi is a well-loved narrator and handles this series well.    She is a master with these quirky, paranormal stories.  I listened comfortably at my usual 1.5x speed and enjoyed the preformance.

About Danielle Garrett

From a young age, Danielle Garrett was obsessed with fantastic places and the stories set in them. As a lifelong bookworm, she’s gone on hundreds of adventures through the eyes of wizards, princesses, elves, and some rather wonderful everyday people as well.

Danielle now lives in Oregon and while she travels as often as possible, she wouldn’t call anywhere else home. She shares her life with her husband and their house full of animals, and when not writing, spends her time being a house servant for three extremely spoiled cats.

Interesting take… I actually really like Adam, but HATE how Holly treats him. I like Nick, but get frustrated (before this book) with the love triangle, but not really love triangle aspect of the relationship. I have to say I prefer Scarlet and Anastasia to Holly at this point. Nice review!

    • I suppose it is easy for me to be frustrated with Adam because Holly is and she is our narrator. It would be more accurate to say I don’t have much knowledge of Adam beyond Holly’s thoughts and their dialogue. It doesn’t really seem like a love triangle and hasn’t, except for Holly not knowing what she wants and not progressing in the relationship or even making much time for Adam. So I prefer the mystery and Holly’s personal skill development because they actually go somewhere. I think Holly has been much more proactive about developing her skills than Scarlet and that frustrated me about Scarlet.
