After a lifetime on the move, Ivy Snow is an expert in all things temporary—schools, friends, and way too many Mr. Wrongs. Now that she owns a successful taco truck in San Francisco and an apartment to call home, Ivy’s reinvented life is on solid ground. And she’s guarded against anything that can rock it. Like the realities of a past she’s worked hard to cover up. And especially Kel O’Donnell. Too hot not to set off alarms, he screams temporary. If only his whispers weren’t so delightfully naughty and irresistible.
Kel, an Idaho sheriff and ranch owner, is on vacay, but Ivy’s a spicy reason to give his short-terms plans a second thought. Best of all, she’s a tonic for his untrusting heart, burned once and still in repair. But when Ivy’s past intrudes on a perfect romance, Kel fears that everything she’s told him has been a perfect lie. Now, if only Ivy’s willing to share, Kel will fight for a true love story.
Everything Jill Shalvis writes is so enjoyable. The entire Heartbreaker Bay series is excellent. I know Kel from Idaho and I’m glad to know his story. Ivy is something fierce and she has had to be. What wonderful characters these are. I love the whole group of friends in this series also.
These characters are so well drawn and make me feel so much. They have both been hurt and are afraid to be vulnerable, an all too common situation. They feel and they don’t want to feel. Shalvis is talented at creating authentic characters and people who really care about others.
I have loved so many books by this author and in this series. Shalvis never disappoints me with the great characters and her sense of humor. I already know and love this world having read the rest of the series. I don’t know if there will be more, but if there are – I’m reading them.
Narration:
I’ve heard Erin Mallon narrate a couple of other books, including The Lemon Sisters in a different series by Jill Shalvis. I enjoyed her sassy voice for Ivy as well as her rather husky voice for Kel. I noticed them the most as the main characters , although she did some other distinct voices. I listened at my usual 1.5x speed.

Neat how you get deep into the feels with these and can anticipate each one. I enjoy Erin Mallon’s narration, too.
It’s an excellent series!
It’s amazing how Shalvis can create so many likable characters with compelling stories. Wonderful review, Anne, and I hope to start this series before the year is out.
She is a master. Her books are just always really good to great. You have plenty in this series to binge!
I’ve enjoyed some of her books this. This sounds like another good one:)
I really enjoyed it. And hey, Ivy is a chef / cook and there is food porn. Yummy. (Amazing descriptions of food)
Nice review. Thank you!
I’m currently reading this one. It has the typical feel of her series. I have to say I’m struggling to remember Kel from Animal Magnetism, but I know he was there.
I remember him but not his injury so I was excited to have his story. I didn’t exactly remember Ivy. But I enjoyed them both.
great cover and review. glad you enjoyed it
Thank you.
I always have a good time with the books of the author!
Me too. She’s a favorite. I read all her books.
I read this one, and will share my thoughts next week but of course loved it. This series has been great!
I always enjoy Jill Shalvis. It’s like some others where I just know I will have a great read. I try to read all her stuff.
