Hotshot pilot Leo Eddowes is afraid of nothing and no one. So when she's asked to evacuate a man from the wilds of Alaska, she doesn't hesitate. But with enemies in close pursuit and the weather turning sour, what should have been a simple mission quickly shifts to disaster.
And there's only one way out.
When Elias Thorne disappeared, he was America's most wanted. Now he's spent more than a decade in one of the most remote places on earth, guarding a dangerous secret. Leo's arrival, quickly followed by a team of expert hunters, leaves him no choice but to join forces with her—and run. Neither is prepared for their reluctant partnership to flare into something as wild and untamed as the frozen world around them...but as desperately cold days melt into scorchingly hot nights, Leo and Elias must learn to dig deep, trust in each other, and forge a bond as strong as the forces of nature.
Stranded together in a frozen wilderness, There's nowhere left to run...
I discovered this Survival Instincts series, by reading an anthology of romantic suspense novellas, Turn the Tide. I have enjoyed everything I’ve read from this author. Survival is an appropriate word for this series. The prequel novella was about Eric Cooper, and the first book was about his brother Ford Cooper.
In Uncharted, we get one of their team, Leo who is a pilot and Navy veteran. The team is trying to track down another sample of the virus. The lead takes them to Alaska. But unfortunately the Chronos mercenaries show up and it’s a race of life and death. Leo finds a guy who is obviously not the one they are looking to find. He’s too young and tall. His name is Elias. Leo and Elias start out, not exactly enemies, but they sure do not trust each other.
Quickly, they get over their distrust to work as a team to live. They also end up being quite attracted to each other. This couple is exceedingly competent. They go nearly 100 miles during storms while being injured, across a lake with the ice breaking up. As they go along, they get to know each other and save each other more than once. Eventually, they have dispensed with most of the mercenaries so they can get back and protect the people in the small Alaska town.
But the mercenaries in the small town didn’t expect to contend with Elias’ godmother, Amka. She is the one who sent Leo to warn him. Amka is a hoot! She also managed to call Leo’s team to come help. While most of the mercenaries were dead or contained, one of them slipped away. I wonder if we will learn more about him. I can’t wait for more. This was outstanding. It was a heart stopper, start to finish.

I think I would like this book! I do love survival stories, especially when the main characters don’t know each other very well but have to work together to survive.
This is an amazing series. The prequel novella, and two books. I would read them in order to understand some things but because they are survival stories with 2 main characters in each you could get away with reading just one. It’s not something I would do because they are so great. The prequel in Turn the Tide is still a Kindle freebie!
I loved Whiteout so I’m excited to have a copy of this, too. I’ll be picking it up soon, so I’ll come back to your review.
Well obviously I loved it. I hope you do too.
This was definitely a heart stopper all the way through! Yes, Amka was the best and now I wonder about Ash. It was a 5 star read for me as well, Anne!
I loved it. What a great survival story. And yes I am curious now.
Yes, this was a real barn burner and I’m curious about the one that got away, too. Loved Amka! 🙂
100%. I’m ready for more any time! Such great characters and I love the survival aspects.
So happy to see that this was such a wonderful read for you. I want to read this series so badly, have the first book at the top of my TBR.
Lovely Review.
I love the survival aspects and a great romance as well. The first book which has the prequel is still free on Amazon when I checked yesterday. Turn the Tide
I love survival stories that keep me on the edge of my seat so this sounds like my kind of book. Glad it was such a great read for you!
This is definitely your book and your series. I love this kind of book too obviously.
