This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre or topic.
The topic here, by my definition, is a series with settings in New York. These are the ones which came to mind. I enjoyed some more than others. The team had to help me find some of these.
Since I haven’t read everything, it’s a subset of the possibilities. I’m sure I am forgetting some great authors. There are also plenty of authors I have yet to read. Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.
My favorite New York series are (in no particular order):
Gaslight Mystery Rose Gallagher Brooklyn Bruisers
by Victoria Thompson by Erin Lindsey by Sarina Bowen
In Death Jimmy Vega Mystery Royals Empire State
by JD Robb by Suzanne Chazin by Louise Bay

You’ve got two of my favorites on your list, In Death & Gaslight Mysteries. I added one we recently finished as a group read, The Perfect Gentlemen.
Fun post, Anne?
Thank you! After almost 4 years, it can be hard to come up with a new idea but I’m still managing with mostly genres, character attributes or settings.
You have my favorite listed, J.D. Robb’s In Death. So looking forward to the next book coming out soon. Also has possibly my favorite narrator ever, Susan Erickson. I have listened to the audiobooks so much, I actually hear her voice in my head when I read the paper versions.
I know how that goes. There are certain narrators I can only listen to on one series because of it.
The In Death and the Sarina Bowen series are the two I’ve read from your stack. I also really love Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series. I’m sure I’ve read others, but that was the one that came to mind.
I considered Guild Hunters but since I haven’t read it I chose ones I have read. Sadly I can’t get to everything.
In Death – love how the characters have grown and changed since the series began.
That’s definitely one of my top picks!
Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunters series is my favorite. I love the characters and their interactions, and I enjoy Nalini Singh’s writing style.
I knew that would come up. I’m a big fan of all her books I have read. I haven’t read those yet.
I just love books set in New York City….its one of those settings that can be done so well. I adore Sarina Bowen’s series set there.
I enjoy the setting also. When I have visited it is so alive, teaming with life and possibilities and activity.
I love both the Brooklyn Bruisers and In Death series. Also Black Dagger Brotherhood which is in Caldwell, New York but still New York!
Well you can vote for all 3. There are so many options I could never choose them all. Thanks for visiting.
