The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, I did my normal visiting.  The weather was another oddball and got up to mid 60s (19C).  So Lulu and I enjoyed a longer route.  I’ve been checking out more new recipes and I was trying to come up with a menu plan.  I hadn’t tried Harris Teeter curbside pickup, so I did an order for Monday.

Monday, was windy and 20 degrees colder, in the 40s.  I went to pick up a couple RX for my daughter and the Harris Teeter order. By then it was late afternoon, the wind had died down and with the sun it was actually a nice walk.  Lulu was so excited, it was like she was skipping.  I tried a new recipe. I saw a broccoli quiche but I wanted to use spinach and then I added diced onions and garlic.  It was good. I was tired of the same food and that’s one I could make even once a month and change up the veggies.  I picked the snow peas but decided to use them later. I got a better shot of the Lenten Rose blooming.

Tuesday, it’s one of the coldest days this week. 40F (5C). I decided to stay inside so I could wear pj pants all day. But the sun was shining and it wasn’t so windy so I didn’t. Lulu and I did a shorter walk.  I finished my audio and then wrote some reviews.   I made clam chowder for dinner.

Wednesday, another day I didn’t get up very early.  The weather was warmer 53F (12C), wind from the south,  and Lulu and I took one of the longer walks in the neighborhood.

Thursday,  the weather is about like yesterday and I got going a bit earlier.  I worked on some upcoming meme posts and wrote some reviews.  Lulu and I walked another longer route.  My daughter and I were relaxing and watched several episodes of Hell’s Kitchen after dinner.

Friday, the wind turned so it was from the north and gustier, but it was still nice, so Lulu and I walked a longer route.  Lulu is yawning and saying, it is time to fix dinner now and I’m tired of waiting.

Saturday, I don’t seem to be able to get up before 10 this week.  I need to dial that back and get up earlier next week.   I’m doing dishes and laundry, and charging my power banks, just in case, we lose power when we get snow / freezing rain.   Lulu and I only walked to the corner and back.  It was 40F / 5 C and the wind from the north but not too bad.  I was just really cold. Facebook is being weird and not letting me share book deals.  So I did a bunch of post setups. I’m trying a new soup recipe tonight.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks to Penguin Audio (the audio is being released 3 months before the ebook novella),   Harper Audio, and Minotaur Books.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Love the new header to your blog. I have spent the first weekend in a long time putting together a fruit salad, with chicken and grapes and it was delish

  2. Nice new header! It’s nice to see something blooming in January. I hope you don’t lose power in this storm. I think the rain moved through faster than they expected here. We’ve got blue skies at the moment. But now we’re a bit worried about my in-laws in south Florida. Apparently they’ve had some funnel clouds from the tail end of this system. Weird weather all around.

    Enjoy your week!

  3. I love your veggie quiche idea so that you can use whatever vegetables are on hand that week and change up your menu. I didn’t get out and walk at all this week though Wednesday probably would have been fine since it hit the 30’s and the windchill wasn’t that bad in the afternoon. I did do some stretches and walking exercises with a DVD I have just to get the heart pumping good. I’ve been sleeping extra this week, but I think my body was fighting something since I’ve had sinus trouble like a cold is on the verge. It does throw off the schedule when one gets up later, though. Looks like you had a nice week and wishing you another one, Anne!

    • Thanks Sophia! I do a similar things with a seafood risotto which originally called for scallops and fish I think but I use shrimp more often and I don’t even remember the original veggies because I use what we have. I love dishes like that. It’s also a favorite because it is made in the microwave and is very quick.

I’ve been sleeping more and doing less. I think it might be the season. I don’t feel sick just low energy. I hope to get past it this week. I do have things to do.

  4. The weather’s been wild a lot of places with variations but we’ve been pretty steady here- cold! I like hearing about your food. 🙂 I hope the soup turned out well!!

    • Thanks Greg. It’s cold here so I’ve been not going out. Also Omicron. I have been on a cooking bent. I have a couple new chicken recipes I want to try. One is a sheet pan Chicken teriyaki and the other is a creamy Tuscan chicken with sun-dried tomatoes & spinach. I bought ricotta cheese for a recipe but now can’t recall which one. lol The soup is good. I wasn’t sure about white beans as I tend to use black beans or kidney beans usually but they’re good.

  5. I love the new header! Every once in a while I seek out new things to cook. I am glad that you found something that you like to add to your rotation. Nice new reads! I hope that you have a great week, Anne!

  6. Nice that you got out despite the chillier temps! I went on a 2.5 mile walk today.

I’m dying for The Family You Make and The Drowning Sea. I already have my library request for The Family You Make and I’m waiting to request The Drowning Sea. Oh, the new Ali Hazelwood! Want that one, too!

  7. Best Lulu pic ever💜💜💜 Made my evening last night.

I hope you fared well with the snow/ice storm. It’s mostly ice here but the streets have about 2” of snow. We didn’t lose power and that’s a great thing.

I added those Hazelwood novellas, too, so thanks for the heads up. I’ve added the audiobooks for all three on Goodreads and connected them. I hope we both enjoy the new Shalvis series. It’s been a while since I’ve read one of her books. All of your freebies are new-to-me authors so I’ll be on the lookout for your reviews.

    Have a great week, Anne💜

  8. Jen

WAIT… There is a new Ali Hazelwood book? I’ll have to find out more. Thanks for sharing.

I was fighting a terrible cold all week. It’s funny how everyone wants to believe it’s covid… We still can get colds and flu! But I’m getting better finally, so that is good. However, between the illness and cold weather (one day last week, the high was 7F), I’ve not been exercising at all. But I did get a bunch of reviews written! Happy Monday!

      • I’m glad you were able to get Ali’s novella. There are 3 total. I saw the audio and I was all over it. I’m so sorry you weren’t feeling well. I had something like that last year, about the same time my back/hip problems started. Thank goodness this year I’m just sleeping more. I like to think I’m gearing up for my next projects. I am doing lots more cooking and trying new recipes right now.

  9. The flower in that photo must not mind the cold weather. All my outdoor plants are dead. 🙂 I got Project Hail Mary for Christmas, so I’ll hopefully be reading it sometime this year. Have a great week!

    • We don’t always get consistent cold so some plants make it. I have broccoli growing all winter. The snow peas and lettuce were fine but I picked them all right before the weekend because of this current cold spell. The swiss chard looks surprisingly good, and the rosemary, chives, mint and sage. There are some bushes here which bloom when it’s very cold like camellia but mine is new and not quite there. But very cold here means down to 15 or 20s at night and 30-40 in the day. Which is not at all like Minnesota cold where I lived for 30+ years. Everything died there except chives. I couldn’t kill chives no matter how I treated them.

    • I’ve found now there are different grocery stores I like for different products. Harris Teeter was my favorite when I moved here. Because of ordering through Instacart I have grown to appreciate Food Lion, Sprouts and Wegmans. But our mainstay is Aldi and Walmart. They are the least expensive and Aldi has quality stuff. I found another recipe this week that both of us loved. My daughter did say she was more comfortable with familiar and didn’t want new recipes every night.
