The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Last day for Read-along and Series on Saturday giveaways.
Sunday, I stayed up late so didn’t get up too early. I finally finished two of my fantasy books so now I can have some genre diversity in my reading. While this past week was frustrating due to some emergency repairs instead of planned projects, things did get accomplished. There was tree and bush trimming, the patio, sidewalk and driveway got edged, a rack which had fallen in the garage got rehung, the gutters all got cleaned, and my daughter’s bathroom got some cleaning. One of the dining room windows is repaired and caulked and there’s one to go. When I got up one day the kitchen smelled like gas. One of the knobs on the stove didn’t stay lined up so the gas was probably on part of the night. I learned I could just order new knobs which I did and now it’s all fixed. I used a coupon from Shutterfly to get a free calendar deal that ended today.
Monday, I had a couple of loads of laundry to put away and the dishwasher to unload. Then I went to do a Wegman’s pickup. When I got back the plumber was here. It didn’t look good but they finally got the clog with a 35 foot snake. My ex also cleaned out the bathroom sinks. I did kitchen and bathroom cleanup afterward. I had some visiting to do and a review to write before a late afternoon walk with Lulu. Hah last week I was reading 3 fantasies and now I’m reading 3 mystery / thrillers. I seem to do better with the mysteries. I got unrequested book mail.
Tuesday, a day where I could stay home. I ended up calling the pharmacy again about 2 Rx and then the 2 doctors. I did write some reviews. I finally got the questions sent to Jeaniene Frost for the Read-along Q&A. My regular guy came to trim the top of the 2 bush trees at the front of the house. My ex was trimming the bottom parts of them and all the bushes.
Wednesday, it’s a busy errand day. I went to Costco to get just a couple items and so my ex could get his Covid booster. Then I ran home to process the rotisserie chickens before we went to the chiro. While my daughter was there, I went to Dollar tree for a few things like more poop bags and an extra pill sorter for my daughter for the trip. Then to Aldi for a few items. When I got home I took Lulu for a walk, then changed my sheets and grabbed a few minutes of computer time before dinner. I ended up late because the book I started was so good. I got another book mail! It’s a prize for the 2023 Read-along.
Thursday, I slept a bit late. I started a pot roast right away. I have a lot of emails, post visiting to do from yesterday plus today. I just seem to move too slowly. My ex was fatigued from the Covid booster and slept a lot today. At least the rain stopped and Lulu and I were able to walk the longer route. The falls colors are glorious. And more prizes for the Read-along!
Friday, we had an early start to get to the gastroenterologist for my daughter. On the way I called the pharmacy to see if they got the prior authorization for her special medicine. They said yes. If insurance wouldn’t cover it the cost would be $500+ a month. Then I asked it they had gotten it in the order today. They said it is on the order. I made calls all week on this daily, and I started last week. Often they don’t want to order this kind of medicine if insurance won’t cover it. But she would be out after today. We got there on time and then waited an entire hour, which is unusual. On the way home we stopped for shakes at Cook-Out and to pick up some items at Food Lion curbside. After doing some computer work, I went to finally get the Rx from Harris Teeter. I needed to put away the groceries, making a batch of food for Lulu, filling my daughter’s week prescription box, and making Shrimp Pad Thai for dinner, all in 40 minutes.
Saturday, a rush to finish everything before my ex and daughter leave tomorrow. He made risers for her desk, which we installed and put down a new chair mat, took apart the vacuum and I ordered the new part, he replaced a board in the fence. They both started packing. I figured out how to pack all my daughter’s medications for the next couple weeks, along with masks and sanitizing wipes and spray. I did a little computer stuff, adding more to the Blogoversary giveaway options, and wrote a review. Then I did a whole pile of mending and sewing, including hemming 3 pairs of pants / leggings for my daughter, and patching a pair of jeans for my ex. Then there was dinner. Afterward I was going to do some laundry and a bobby pin went down into the washer, so we took that apart to get it out and clean up the covers.
How do I do it?
I have a Fitbit Luxe which I am appreciating. I use it primarily to track steps and sleep. I take it off every day when I shower to charge and it normally shows 80-99% charge. Daily. But twice something odd has happened. Sometime in the afternoon or early evening, it somehow loses power and when I am ready for bed it is at 1-4% power. This is after being at least 80% in the morning. I don’t understand how this can happen. Some days I shower more quickly than others but it is getting charged every day.
If you have any tips for me, please comment.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Many thanks to Minotaur Books, Berkley Romance, and Tantor Audio.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I pre0ordered this anthology which has stories from many of my favorite authors.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

That’s a great color for darling Lulu💜
We got our Covid booster shot on Friday and it leveled both of us yesterday. Feeling better now but I’m seriously behind.
I’m gonna check out Best Served Hot as I haven’t seen that before. Have a great week and congrats again!
I had no reaction to any of my boosters thank goodness or the flu shot. I hear you on the behind. I worked really hard at catching up this week and it’s better on the book front. The rest, not so much. Best Served Hot is the second book of a debut I loved last year, in the foodie world.
I got my booster on Friday and yesterday was a total waste of a day, I was so achy and tired! I must have missed (or forgotten) where your daughter is going, but I hope they have a fun time!
Thank you Tammy. I don’t know if I said or not. She is going to her first cousin’s wedding. I hope you are all over it now.
I put due dates for all my boosters in my planner in advance for both my son and I, pretty good books on your docket.
Thanks Trin. I feel fortunate to get many of the books I really want.
500 a month would be insane! So are you telling us that you’ll be all alone with Lulu in the house for several weeks now Anne?
Well one week with Lulu all to myself. I hope she isn’t too depressed but at least I’m the one who feeds her and walks her. So she likes me pretty well. I don’t have as much time for cuddling as my daughter though.
That’s funny how you keep ending up with a stack from the same genre each time. I try to break it up a bit, too, but once in a while they line up like that. Glad you got the emergency tasks done and several chores and errands for your list to help your daughter and ex get prepared for their trip. Hopefully, you can slow down a bit now. Yay for the unexpected bookmail! I got the same stack and wondered if I’d accidentally signed up for them at first. Fun possibilities in there.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thanks Sophia. It will be a quiet week for the most part. I have a long list of things I want to do of course. Tomorrow I’m starting Bound by Flames.
I’m getting ready to start the new Samantha Young, didn’t know it was already available to buy! Ugh for when you end up having to fix things instead of do things you’re planning to do. Every once in a while I have issues with my Fitbit, in the past it usually meant it was time for a new one. Or one time the company gave me a big discount on a new one because they said it was their issue. Hope you get it figured out! Have a great week!
Thanks Lisa. I don’t think the Samantha Young is released; that stack came from a publisher.
Ooh, then I’m really jealous of that stack now! Lol
Don’t worry. I’ll give most of them away.
You have had a very busy week. I need to go get that COVID booster this week, thanks for the reminder!
It never seems to slow down. I do hear the Covid cases are ramping up. UGH.
What a busy week. Nice you are trying a different genre. I try do that now and then, but mainly its a lot of UF and PNR ^_^. Have a great week.
Thank you Angela. I have a variety of genres most of the time. I seem to be a bit off romance right now. I like romance in the other genres as a background plot, but not a book where it is the only plot right now.
I hope you and Lulu survive without your daughter! Absence can be tough for sure. Glad the plumber got the clog-but that is a big snake he had to use. Have a good week!
yep. It could be a rough week for Lulu. She’s used to more cuddling.
Sounds like you had a busy week! That’s scary about the stove knobs. One of ours went missing so I need to find a replacement. I’ve been reading mysteries too…
I’ve been enjoying the fall colors also! Hope you have a nice new week 🙂
I like to keep busy Greg. I was glad all I needed were new knobs. The ones from the manufacturer were $87 for one! I got 4 on Amazon for $13.99. They work great. You have to measure how many mm the metal D is. The fall colors are really nice now.
?That is good to know! Thanks!!! Yikes $87
The generic knockoffs are fine. I put all 4 on the stove to match. I cleaned the other 3 old ones and put them in a ziploc bag in the bottom drawer inc case one of the new ones goes bad.
I love mysteries too. I also like thrillers and horror, but mysteries are my favorite of the three. I’ve slept a bit late this week too. That’s mostly from not sleeping well due to the pain I’ve been in. Fortunately, the pain in both is starting to go away. Thanks for stopping by. 😀
I’m so glad the pain is starting to go away. I also have the problem where I sleep later if I’m up more in the night.
You are super busy! I don’t think I have ever done so much in a week or a day! Hope your coming week is a good one.
I am a habitual smash more into the day person. It’s my superpower. 🙂 I’ve always been a go 100% until I drop person. There’s so much I want to do, see, read, etc.
I always feel like I’m peeking inside your diary when I read your The Sunday Posts! A great collection of books this week! I hope that you enjoy them all.
Thank you Jodie. Sometimes I share more, sometimes less, hopefully not oversharing.
You’ve been a busy bee sorting out jobs around the house, hopefully you will get the last few done soon. I’m so glad the sink got unblocked.
Hooray for all that amazing book mail, it looks like a great selection of reads. Safe travels for your daughter, I hope you don’t miss her too much whilst she is away.
Thank you Louise. She’s old enough, an adult, but I’m happy to have her with me. I also want her to have lots of experiences and travel, to learn and grow. I will miss her, and definitely Lulu will.
Nice book haul. Have a wonderful week!
Thank you Cindy. Every week is a good week. With books.
What a lovely load of books this week – especially the delightful Iron Druid series, although I do prefer the original covers with the lovely blond bloke swinging a variety of weapons around:)). Regarding your Fitbit – it’s only a thought… but I have an Oura ring and recently one of the updates included monitoring heart rate throughout the day. And it absolutely hammered my battery. I found the option to turn it off after consulting Mr Google and finding I wasn’t the only person with the same problem. Could it be a similar issue? I hope you get a chance to put your feet up a bit while it’s just you and Lulu – you never seem to stop!
Thank you Sarah. I’m doing more on my own, no restraints. I can do as much or as little as I want. I have more time, not cooking big meals or as much with med appts or as much laundry. Those Iron Druid Chronicles CDs and book are prizes for next year’s Read-along. Maybe you will join us a bit; it’s more in your genre wheel. You may be right about the fitbit. I’m watching it closely, maybe a fluke or it got near a magnet or some other odd thing that affected it. It does do heart rate monitoring.
I am scheduling my husband’s booster this week – I am aiming for a day he can work from home the next day. I still have to wait a week or two since I had Covid in July. ;(
It sounds like you had a very busy week!!! And that prescription stuff – I feel you on that. My son’s one medicine is $980 before insurance. His secondary insurance is supposed to pick up the copay of $40 but if I go even one day early they won’t cover it, and sometimes I get super nervous that there won’t be enough to make it to that day so I get it early. It is liquid in a dark bottle so it is hard to tell. Dealing with all that can be so frustrating!
yes the prescriptions are a nightmare. I try to check what’s covered every year before signing up for a plan but the lists seem a bit general and they seem to change what they cover at any time. I do know quite a bit as I worked as a pharmacy tech (certified) for 4 years. It didn’t pay well and was inconvenient schedules but I learned a lot. We haven’t had covid and are trying to keep it that way.
Sounds like a busy week, I’ve done that before with the stove knobs. Prescription meds are way overpriced before insurance, 500+ monthly is alot. My daughter has to keep an epi pen that is insanely pricey but thank the insurance covers it. Enjoy your books this week!
Thank you! It looks like a good week ahead.
Wow, you got a lot accomplished last week. Scary about the gas being on all night. Hope the new knobs help that. The price of prescription meds is criminal. Without good insurance it’s not even possible to afford many of them. I got my flu vaccine last weekend and am waiting a week or two before returning for my Covid booster. I had my second booster back in April but I’m getting a third since the newer boosters protect against the Omicron variant.
Thank you Tanya. It’s our 3rd booster too. They had to start a new card for us. The new knobs are working well.
Sounds like a super-busy week! You got a lot done. I don’t know where you find the energy, but I wish I could borrow some.
I hope your daughter enjoys her trip and stays healthy, and that you and Lulu have a good time together despite your daughter’s absence.
Looking forward to the Iron Druid readalong!
Thanks Kara. I’m so excited you will be joining in on the Iron Druid RA. I just keep going even when I have no energy. It’s more fun when I have energy though. I hope my daughter has a good time and stays well.
You had a busy week! Sounds like your ex was a lot of help. Our fall colors are starting and the weather is glorious here right now. Especially compared to Texas! Didn’t realize it was so humid there. No thanks. I’m glad my daughter will only be there temporarily. The trip home was an absolute nightmare and I got a cold virus from the kids as a parting gift.
I have a Luxe Fitbit as well and while I like the looks of it better than my Charge it’s wonky sometimes. It used to be that I didn’t have to update on my phone app for Fitbit every day but now I do if I want the buzz/vibrate notifications (when I get a text message or call) to work on the watch. Also, my time is off still on Texas time after updating over and over. It was on California time until the last day I was there. *sigh* Maybe you need to log into the app on your phone for the battery to show the correct percentage? Also, I don’t charge it everyday. I let it run down to about 20-25% before I do. I think it’s better for the battery that way. At least, that’s what my husband told me.
Thank you Rachel, for all the Fitbit tips. I really like mine. I do not use notifications. I’m no fan of Texas. I hope you feel better quickly. I think your week was full too.
You had another busy week! It sounds like you are getting a whole lot of things done around the house. I have a copy of What Have We Done and am excited to try this author. I hope that you have a great week!
Thanks Carole. It was a busy week. I seem to be on a rollercoaster but at least things are getting done. And I’m a week ahead on reviews which is the best.
Another busy week for you! Where are your ex and daughter heading off to together? Getting prescriptions can be such a pain in the butt. And your Fitbit… Hmmm, so does the software for it need updating? It seems that, with my Apple Watch, when it needs updating, it consumes power faster and dies earlier in the evening. I update it and it works fine again. Don’t know if that’s the same with the Fitbit, but worth checking out.
Thank you, I’ll have to check if that’s what happened with the Fitbit. My ex and daughter are off to her first cousin’s wedding in Illinois.
Awww Honor ‘n’ Duty looks cute!
It’s good. I’m listening to it now.
GAWD how I do love reading about your busy days!!!!
I think I missed a post. Where is your daughter going?
The price of some of these medications is just crazy. Glad your insurance covered that $500+ one.
I’m not sure I said. She went to Illinois to her first cousin’s wedding.
I don’t know about fitbits, but that happens with my apple watch sometimes. Usually I have to turn it all the way off and then back on and it is better. Sometimes I have to reset the watch – can you reset the fitbit?
I am going to try to do the read-along next year; I’ve never done a full one with you. I need to put the schedule on my calendar soon so I can participate. I see you have the new editions. Those are so pretty!
Well, I hope your week has been going good – it’s already Thursday night!
It’s been an interesting week. The day has gone so quickly. I can reset the Fitbit. It hasn’t happened again though. I’m excited you will be doing the RA with us.
Sweet Lulu! The covid booster wiped my energy out too but not as bad as the 2nd shot. Hopefully your ex is feeling better! Packing mass quantities of medicine is always an entertaining feat of organization. I hope you’ve had a great week!
Thank you Katharine. Lulu had a close haircut and nail trim last weekend.
Sorry about your tracker. I have no advice, but I hope you figure it out. Have a great weekend.
Thank you.
