Deputy Tessa Black spots a man disturbing a grave in the local cemetery and gives chase. But when Tessa catches him, she learns that the ghoulish trespasser wasn’t robbing graves; he was burying a box of bones.
With the help of her fiancé, park ranger Logan Wilde, Tessa discovers that the remains belong to a missing teenager from a nearby island. After the girl disappeared nine months ago, police labeled her a runaway. Now, though, it’s clear the teenager was murdered.
When the only witness is an uncooperative teenager, Tessa and Logan must find the killer before the boy becomes the next target.
Just in time for the Spooky season, Tessa’s case starts in a graveyard and involves a box of bones. The Wrong Bones is the tenth in the addictive Widow’s Island romantic suspense series bringing together two fabulous authors.
Tessa is on routine patrol, but a misty Widow’s Island night doesn’t end in routine. She prevents an unlawful burial and the person gets away. Now, she and Logan, her fiancé and island park ranger, band together to solve the cold case of the bones that heats up with a frightened teenager, mysterious house renter, and angry guest all could be her suspects. Meanwhile, her wedding draws near as her mother’s mind drifts further and further away.
A darker element and a macabre motive give The Wrong Bones a lovely suspense plot to join the engaging regular cast of characters and well-layered relationship side of the story. Widow’s Island series is a must for romantic suspense fans.
About Melinda Leigh

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh is a fully recovered banker. A life-long lover of books, she started writing as a way to preserve her sanity while raising her kids. Over the next few years, she learned a few things about writing a book. The process was much more fun than analyzing financial statements, and she decided to turn her hobby into a career. Melinda’s debut novel, SHE CAN RUN, was nominated for Best First Novel by the International Thriller Writers. She is a RITA® Award Finalist and has earned three Daphne du Maurier Award nominations, two Silver Falchion Awards, and a Golden Leaf.
Melinda holds a 2nd degree belt in Kenpo Karate. She’s dabbled in Arnis stick fighting, studied Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and taught women’s self-defense. She lives in a messy house in the suburbs with her husband, two kids, a couple of shelter dogs and two rescue cats who clearly run the show. With such a pleasant life, she has no explanation for the sometimes dark and disturbing nature of her imagination.

These are well-written and enjoyable stories. They aren’t too complex since that would be hard to do in a novella.
Good way of putting it. They go straight to the point, but don’t lose the development. 🙂
I hope to one day pick up this series.
For sure, Nadene! Once in a while book one is offered as a freebie. 🙂
