The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Scourged giveaway ends tonight!
Sunday, I woke up early with the time change. I don’t really like light earlier and I really don’t like it getting dark earlier at night. I got Lulu and Max outside and fed. Then we went to the office where they are sleeping while I cruise the Sunday posts. My daughter went to bed early and finally got a good night’s sleep, so she is feeling better. I worked on some posts, wrote some reviews finally. We had a lively chat on Besieged. I limped with Lulu to the corner and back; it was already dark before dinner.
Monday, my foot is a bit better. I started the day feeling a bit more caught up, except for my ebook reading. I did manage to put together a menu plan. I took Lulu for another limp down to the corner.
Tuesday, my foot seemed better which is good for dog walking and leaf blowing and really, everything. I did a lot of work on writing reviews and I finished 3 books today. I stayed up until 3:30am to finish one book.
Wednesday, I went out to walk the dogs. It’s near 80F/ 27C but it will cool down a bit after tomorrow. I’m still trying to finish up some reviews and post editing. They came and sucked up the leaves today.
Thursday, the last warm day. I met a close neighbor with her 4 month old Australian Doodle and we walked together a bit with Abby and wild girl Lulu. Also the leaf poop camouflage is playing a strong game. My yard was totally clear Tuesday afternoon, here’s a photo from today, and if you look closely you can see Lulu in front of the house waiting for me to finish walking Kayla and to come over with Abby to get her. At least there aren’t many leaves left on the tree. My daughter had a rough night so I was on my own. We went to her appt at the college career services. We got some info on remote jobs or internships and also good schools for online accounting programs. Then I picked up her RX and a few items at Harris Teeter and dropped off a return.
Friday, the neighbor asked us to walk Kayla and Abby again today. The weather is cooler but still fine. Unfortunately, she forgot to turn off the alarm. I texted her but the police showed up as I was heading out with Abby and Lulu. She had turned off the alarm already. Here’s a photo of her crimson tree. Then even though I didn’t want to leave the house and run errands, I took all the US prizes to be mailed for the Blogoversary giveaway to the post office and picked up a few items at Aldi. The receipt from the post office shows the prizes are all estimated to arrive November 16-18. Finally, I could get to all the blog visiting and book reviews I have to be done. I made a batch of food for Lulu and also a pan of egg whites in muffin pans for quick breakfasts.
Saturday, I slept in a little. Today will include a bunch of reading and hopefully some post setup and review writing. If you plan to join the White Trash Zombie Read-along in 2024 and want to be one of the reviewers, let me know. I read about the giant pandas going back to China and decided to plan a weekend trip to Atlanta which still has some. We love visiting zoos. The week ahead looks like 60-70F with not much rain and no freezes at night.
Things I Learned This Week:
OK if I’m asking for help, I’m also going to share the cool things I learn. You may already know them but hopefully it will help someone.
No time to look at FS Poster this week. I still have not a thing working in it. I’d be happy if I could just get it to share posts to Threads.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to DAW books, Recorded Books.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I purchased using my No Rush Shipping Rewards.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Bummer you’re still limping around. I hope your foot heals quickly! Our discussion was lively, lol! Our red trees in the front lost all of their leaves after it rained a bunch here. Still have more falling though. Raking is an endless task right now. There’s still a lot of red trees with leaves in the neighborhood, but probably not much longer. I think we have rain coming on Tuesday or Wednesday.
I bought an audio and physical copy of Iron Flame but won’t be able to start it for a while. I have a few audios to get through before my library lend is up and we have our read-along audios as well.
Thanks Rachel. I read Scourged and all the novellas this week so I’d have read everything before sending off the questions to Kevin this week. If you have any questions for him, either enter in the rafflecopter or just message me I look forward to hearing your and Jen’s thoughts on Scourged.
I left a few questions for Kevin Hearne in the rafflecopter for Besieged. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Scourged! I need to check and see if I’ve read all the novellas.
I’m sorry to read about your foot. I hope it starts feeling better soon.
I don’t really mind it getting darker earlier in the evening.. What I really dislike is the kids waking up at 5 a.m. Sigh.. This week went a little better luckily.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Thank you Maureen. It’s always a juggle to change to the new times. Dogs and kids don’t care what the clock says.
Sweet Lulu💜 Wild this week?
Enjoy Hard Asset! Love that series and just about everything Clare writes.
Have a great week, Anne!
Thanks Jonetta. Lulu was so excited about the new dog friend she kept running around and wrapping me and the other dog mom with her leash. I finally got her leash shortened. I love everything I’ve read by Pamela Clare. The Iteam books are a real favorite.
It sounds like your foot is healing slowly but surely but when you’re active it’s hard to find the opportunity to rest it. I’m a fan of daylight savings time too and our province voted a few years ago to remain on it year round. We have to wait until Washington, Oregon and California decide to do so. Have a great week ahead Anne.
Thank you Jodie. I hope the states decide soon. The switching is a pain.
I am not a fan of the time change either, I wish we would just stick with one time. That’s good to hear you foot is doing a bit better. That crimson tree looks so pretty!
I also got a copy of Floating Hotel for review, it sounds so good! Have a great week!
Thank you Lola. I don’t think the picture even does the tree justice; it is glorious. Floating Hotel just sounded like one I needed to read.
Your house is so cute, and what a big change with the leaves. This is our first time living in a house where we have to deal with leaves, so we either need to start raking or hire someone, lol. Have a good week, Anne😁
Thanks Tammy. I couldn’t believe it. One day the lawn was clear and the next the tree dropped all the rest of its leaves! I’ll give you a tip. It’s easier to blow them all into a pile and then rake or leafeat them. Raking is hard on the hands. In fact, I do very little using 2 electric tools to blow and leafeat. I leafeat to get them into tiny pieces which is better for making compost. The front leaves I blow to the street to have them sucked up and taken away. The backyard ones I get into compost bins.
I used to love the time change, getting an extra hour of sleep. This year it hit me hard though and I was just tired. I like it to be dark when I go to bed to read around 9, but any earlier being dark is kind of sad. Although it is nice since I get to work so early to have it light out earlier that way. Hope your foot is getting back to normal, sounds like it was slowly getting there. I’m thinking about the White Trash Zombies as I did want to read that, but I’m also trying not to plan any more books to review next year as much as possible to try to get read what I already have on my shelves. lol Hope you have a good week!
Thanks Lisa. I took a longer walk today and it went pretty well. I hope you will join us for the Read-along. It’s a shorter one and it would be fun to have you. The books are at the library too.
I hope your foot continues to recover so you have a limp-free future very soon! There’s nothing worse than a sore foot when trying to get about – particularly walking a dog. And yes… our clocks went back a couple of weeks ago and like you, I thoroughly dislike it. Though at least the grandson is of an age where he understands the time difference. Thank you for the lovely pics and I hope the coming week is a good one, Anne:)).
Thank you Sarah. yes the foot is better, a lot less pain and limping. I especially appreciate it not hurting when I try to sleep now. Now I just have to squeeze in my walking before it gets too dark. It’s dark by 5.
Trying to find poop in the leaves has been a real problem for me this week. Seriously. I always end up finding it with my foot instead of my eyes. Its making keeping the yard clean a real issue. Hopefully your daughter finds a good grad school! I know that is always challenging!
Thanks Samantha. I definitely need to do more leaf maintenance next week.
I hope that your foot starts feeling better soon. It is hard to get anything done when you aren’t feeling well. My husband usually takes care of poop clean-up duty in the yard and he always complains in the fall about the leaves making it hard to find. I loved the White Trash Zombie series. I am going to think about joining in since I have already reviewed the books in that series and want to read more books that don’t require a review next year. Enjoy all of your new books!
Thank you Carole. The foot is better. Lulu and I took a longer walk today. In another week I think it will be totally normal. I’d love to have you join us for the WTZ. I know I like to reread ones I enjoy if it’s been awhile. At lease this Read-along is a shorter one with only 6 books.
I am 100% with you on the time change – I’d love for it to stay DLS all year. I missed the Besieged discussion last week, but I had a lot going on and didn’t fell I had a lot to add to a discussion. I bet it was still a good one. Can you believe we only have on more book?
My week went by quickly. I had a couple road trips for work and my daughter had doctor appoints all Monday afternoon. We had Friday off for Veteran’s Day and went to the movies on Thursday. It’s cold and I’m not loving walking out there!
Besieged was a harder discussion because you have to think about the individual stories. I printed out a list so we could go thru then a bit one by one. But they are short and sometimes it feels like they don’t impact the overall story arc, until you find out they do. We read Scourged and novellas this week so I can’t wait to talk about it. I have to get the questions for Kevin ready in the next 2 days so if you have any, message me. It’s still nice here or at least light jacket weather.
I’m glad your foot is doing a bit better. And well done on getting your prizes mailed out.
I have mixed feelings about DLS. Personally, I’d rather have the light in the afternoon (in the winter), but I gather that standard time is supposed to be better for our circadian clocks.
I’m sad about the pandas, even though we haven’t visited the National Zoo since before Covid. I was hoping to get up there this fall, but it didn’t happen.
Have a great week!
Thank you Kara. I think I will be all better in a week and it’s a lot less pain now. Well standard time wouldn’t feel as bad if we didn’t have the changes but I still think I prefer DST. I don’t think we’ve ever seen pandas and we have been to many, many zoos. So a short trip to see them at the Atlanta Zoo (haven’t been there) sounds fun plus we can revisit a zoo in SC midway on the trip. We have been to the SC zoo before though in 2008 spring break.
I’m glad your daughter is feeling better! Looks like it was a full week for you all. I love the tree and its fall colors!
Thank you. It was a lower number of appts last week than for this week. I’m dreading that running around a bit.
I’m glad your foot is getting better! Your house looks lovely with all the leaves in the yard.
I love the earlier light in the morning but I don’t like it being almost dark here at 4:54pm. I feel like I should shut down my computer and crawl into bed!
Thank you Jinjer. It feels like midnight after dinner. I dislike it being dark at dinner. It’s still nice enough we could eat outside some nights and of course, I grill pretty often. In the dark now.
They need to stop with the daylight savings. We just carried out 12 bags of leaves to the curb tonight for collection tomorrow. All the leaves aren’t down yet, so we’ll have more to go.
yes. I hate the changes but if they go with standard it will be too light in the morning and too dark when it’s still day. The leaves just dumped on that front tree so at least when I do next week for the suckup that will be finished. The backyard is another matter.
Those pictures look nice and that a cute dog.
Have a great week.
Thank you. We always think Lulu is the cutest and best girl.
LOL, yep, leaf season always makes me look bad right after I had my raking caught up. Ah, hope your foot gets better soon. I’m glad you daughter got a good night’s sleep. Always nice when the milder weather sets in. Hope you got to those ebooks you wanted to get done.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. One ebook down, two to go. The foot is almost there.
I hope your foot is better and that your daughter continues to get better.
Your books look good. I hope you enjoy them and have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. My foot continues to improve. Sadly, my daughter seems to be having more troubles.
Fall! Literally my favorite!
Me too. I’ve always loved fall. But spring is moving up in my heart with my gardening pursuits.
I don’t mind the time change but my dog isn’t a fan! He apparently pays a lot of attention to sun position. I’m glad your foot is getting a bit better and I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Iron Flame. I’m trying to decide if I should go on and buy it or wait for my library hold. I hope you’re having a great week!
Thank you Katherine. I think they ordered a lot of copies of Iron Flame because the friend I’m buddy reading with got hers the first day. I got my library hold too in case I didn’t get the ARC but I did get the audio ARC.
I feel like I’m still adjusting to the time change. Hope you have a great week and enjoy all your books.
Thank you. I continue to try to adjust. It’s just making me tired though.
I swear the older I get the less my body is able to adjust as quickly to the time change. Of course, the cats definitely don’t understand it. I hope you are enjoying your reading!
Nobody’s body understands it but yes, Lulu doesn’t get it either.
