The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Sunday, I happily got going today. I upped my number of pushups as I will try to do each Sunday. The rain wasn’t too hard and the weather was fairly warm this morning. I should have got busy with yard cleanup yesterday but I just wanted to read. I did my Feedly and now Sunday post visiting, also responding to some comments from the week as I got a bit behind. I’m ahead on my ARCs and hope to continue since March is jam-packed plus #SIAM. I got some reviews setup, edited and written.
Monday, I didn’t get going the fastest but I made pretty good use of my time today. It rained so we didn’t walk again. I got some more posts set up and reviews written. I did a bunch of research and paperwork. Dannika Dark emailed me and offered signed copies of all the books as prizes for the next Read-along and Tantor is already providing the series on audio! Announcement is June 2. My daughter has still been feeling so poorly she is not sure she can handle a day at the zoo. She went to bed early.
Tuesday, busy day. The temperature isn’t cold but the wind is strong from the north so it feels very cold. I did visiting, wrote a review, set up some posts. Then I went to pick up our Pap Murphy’s pizza and realized the garden center is less than a mile from there. So I made a quick stop to get plants Buttercrunch Lettuce, Romaine Lettuce and Beets. I got back just in time for my daughter’s medical appt. Right after, I started two hours of phone banking for the NC Democrats. It was my first time. I quickly gathered up all the garbage and recycle to put out, and took Lulu for a walk. Finally I could eat lunch at 6:30pm and then from 7-8pm had an online Zoom on being a poll watcher. I’ve never been involved in politics but with everything happening it is time for me to step up. I made up a garden calendar based on planting and maturity dates, drawing a little sketch of where things will be planted for spring.
Wednesday, Happy Valentine’s Day! I had a decent start doing some computer stuff and then heading out to visit the new doctor’s office I want to set up for us. Then I did some shopping at Wegmans and Trader Joes. I don’t go very often so I got a lot of items. After I put them away, my daughter and I took Lulu for a walk on a medium route to the park. It’s warmer today. She looked at the garden with me afterwards to talk about the planting plan. The iris and pulmonaria (lungwort) just started blooming and the Lenten Rose is in full glory. Then I made a dinner with too much food. I’d made a rustic sort of apple pie with gluten free pastry dough.
Thursday, I had trouble going to sleep and there is just so much I want to do today. There was the usual computer stuff, writing a review, and making a few calls. I went out and blew leaves to the back of the yard and planted the garden. From the left, I planted 4 each of buttercrunch and romaine, then you can see the snow peas planted last Sept starting up the cattle panel cage. I planted some more seeds in space near them. In the next photo, is the Swiss chard planted in Sept and I planted some seeds to the left of them. In the second bed, is the asparagus which isn’t up yet and then the 4 new beet plants.
In the tall raised bed, we have broccoli planted in Sept, behind it I planted another variety of lettuce and at the very back is the rhubarb plant. Then Lulu and I had our walk.
Friday, another day to get up and go. My daughter had a dermatology appt. We stopped at Target to buy a beard trimmer and I wanted a new 6qt saucepan since my 5qt one is starting to fall apart after 20 years. Then we went to vote in the primary election early voting. We met the secretary for the Democratic party for our precinct who lives in our neighborhood. She invited us to her house for the precinct meeting tomorrow. Then we picked up my daughter’s new glasses and I stopped at Food Lion for milk. We came home and trimmed Lulu’s nails. I took Lulu on a medium walk.
Saturday, after a few usual Saturday chores I went to the neighbor’s house for the meeting. It was nice to meet more neighbors. I was the only one wearing a mask but that’s ok. I am now a county delegate for the convention mid March. So I don’t know how that works yet. Lulu was happy to see me when I got home. My daughter says the antibiotics have finally worked and she doesn’t have the intestinal bloating!!!! It’s very chilly this weekend but we will be in the 60s this week.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to Kensington, Berkley.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I picked my February first read.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

That’s awesome about Dannika Dark. Nice seeing the vegetables. It wasn’t a bad week here but we did get snow… 60’s sound pretty good, we’re COLD
Nice cover on Friend in the Dark.
Thank you Greg. I know I always feel badly whining about 50 degree winter here when that is warm in MN. What I am seeing is the wind is the big factor. If it is really windy and out of the north it is cold at 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60. I love that it’s time to plant as it’s unlikely to freeze hard now. We may get to 30s briefly overnight but only for an hour once a week. Dannika Dark is even offering to ship Internationally!
I am glad your daughter is feeling better! It sounds like you had a busy week. And I live in the same state as Greg- we have been plunged back into the cold again, but this week we are supposed to get a warm up, thankfully. I am ready!
Thank you Erin. Mostly people are ready for a bit warmer weather in February / March. I’m just excited that here we are on the edge and it doesn’t freeze hard enough so we can have winter veggies and flowers like Lenten Rose blooming in winter. It’s the wind more than the temperature which makes me feel cold.
How cool that you’re getting involved in politics, it sounds fascinating, good luck! I love seeing all your new plants, it’s hard to believe it’s time to plant veggies already. We still have snow on the ground:-) I hope you have a really good, productive week!
Thank you Tammy. I’ve never been involved in politics so it’s weird. Only the cool weather veggies will work now. Tomatoes, peppers, green beans, squash won’t work for another couple months. Basil is the most fussy but we love it so much!
Oh, I felt it when you said about the north wind. The cold isn’t so bad if it’s not windy, but it physically hurts to be outside when it’s cold and windy!
Exactly the cold only feels cold when there’s a strong wind and from the north. A south wind can feel good.
I am full of respect at your decision to get so directly involved in politics – I would be happy if they made voting mandatory here in the UK, like in Australia. And I’m very impressed at your beautiful broccoli – and your Lenten Rose, which is full of flowers – I know it better as helebore and the local Highdown Gardens will have swathes of them in a month. Have a good week, Anne:).
Thank you Sarah. I’ve never been involved but the stakes are too high to ignore things in politics right now. I love having my perennials in the garden.
WOW Dannika Dark is so generous! And I admire you for getting involved in politics. Good luck!
Thank you Sophie. I was thrilled she would be so generous. I love when the authors support the Read-along. I had to do something against the lawlessness which is happening (Trump)
A Friend in the Dark was one of the books I was considering. I ended up with Don’t Forget Me by Rea Frey. It was a hard choice. The Karen Rose book looks really good. I hope you enjoy your books. Have a great week!
Thank you! I also considered the Rea Frey book.
Look at you diving in with both feet to rep your local politics. But, as you say, if you’ve got convictions, act on them. I’m so envious with all this gardening talk. We’ve had cold weather and the ground is hard as a rock, but its not under a layer of snow so I’ve got the early itch to be out there. Working up my planting plans is the best I can do right now.
Great news about the author signed copies and Tantor sponsorship for your next readalong.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. I am very grateful to Tantor and Dannika Dark. One of the cool things I didn’t know about North Carolina when I moved here is the long gardening seasons. It just doesn’t freeze very hard so cool season crops do well. But the soil is crap. It all has to be amended or replaced.
My daughter planting some radishes in her little garden and they are starting to come up. Love your garden pictures.
Thank you Mary. It’s just the start but I love spring gardens.
Sounds like a busy week. Great going with the push ups. Hope you have a great week and love all your books.
Thank you Role. So far so good. It’s rough trying to increase every Sunday but so far I can.
I love hearing about your garden and seeing the photos! And Lulu, of course; she’s always so cute. Good for you for volunteering with your local Democrats. I should probably think about doing that too. I’m glad to hear your daughter is feeling a bit better. Have a good week, and enjoy your new books!
Thank you Kara. I have to do something to improve things. I never felt I had to pay attention until the criminal came onto the political scene. Sure many of the politicians are in in for themselves to line their pockets. But not to this extent with Maga I really appreciate Biden’s policies he has managed. He has a lot of congressional and foreign policy experience.
Sounds like a busy week, and so glad your daughter is having some relief with the antibiotics. The political thing sounds like it will be interesting and I’m sure help you feel like you’re working towards some change! Have a great week, I’m sorry I missed the WTZ discussion today. Plan to do it next month for sure though!
Thanks Lisa. I have to try. I’ll look forward to your thoughts in the FB messenger if you have some.
That Lenten Rose is beautiful! I also have pulmonaria but it won’t likely bloom for another month here. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
Thank you Jodie. I can believe how long they bloom. Things will pick up in the next few months in the garden.
I have no idea what a county delegate for the convention is , but yay, if it’s something you want do!
I’ve put in a purchase request with my library for the Dannika Dark series ( though winning a set would be great!)
Wishing you a great reading week
Thanks Shelleyrae! It would be thrilling to have you read with us on the next Read-along. And yes both the audio and books will be available as International prizes thanks to my great support from the publisher and author. It would be so fun to have you join us for chats too. You would only need to join the COYER facebook group not participate in COYER. We are using Google meet now since they got rid of Facebook rooms. If I have it figured the timing would be about 7am in your timezone although I could be off an hour, not knowing exactly where you live.
Sorry to hear your daughter hasn’t been feeling well, but yea – maybe the meds are finally working?! I love the Clandestine Magic world by Colleen Cowley. I listen the original series and really enjoyed it. I haven’t been reading as much this month as last month. I find I’m tired at night and during the day, I want to do other stuff.
Thank you Jen. She’s having some ups and downs but the meds are working for that problem. I’m having a moment this week. I actually watched some TV. I’ve been too tired to read at night over the weekend but I’m hanging in there with some audio.
Hooray for being caught up on arcs. I have 2 or 3 more waiting in the wings and then I am going to take a long break from them. I’m ready to dive into all the books on my shelves that I want to read, with no deadline or need to review. 🙂 Kudos to you for your polling/election work!
Thank you Tanya. I do read library books or things I own between ARCs. With audio, I tend to read more than most people while I’m doing other things.
Your garden looks great!
Thank you Bonnie. I’m thrilled to have it started.
Your Lenton Rose is gorgeous and wow, look at your broccoli! Glad to hear your daughter’s stomach issues are better with the antibiotics!
I was sorry to miss out on the WTZ chat on Sunday, but we were driving home from being in the Sequoias with family. Not much reading got done, but I did manage to finish the audio and I loved it! I just need to write my review. I’m so behind it’s been stressing me out. After this week I think I’ll be a little better since I don’t have many books I’m scheduled to post on. I over scheduled myself. I’ll try not to do that again!
Thanks Rachel. I hear you. I hate being behind but there are some books one just has to have and there were a lot this month, and next. I never had Lenten Rose in Minnesota but they are gorgeous here and just when there isn’t much else. I’m glad to have the spring garden planted. Although the winter garden is surprisingly excellent.
I’ve read a couple by Charlie Donlea. He is fun.
Absolutely! I’ve read several of his books.
I’m glad your daughter is feeling better! Thanks for volunteering! It’s nice to see your Lenten rose blooming! I can see some daffodils from my window right now. They have buds but aren’t quite blooming yet. My grandmother has a few daffodils in a protected area that are blooming already. It’s nice to see early signs of spring.
Thanks Jen. I’ve seen some daffodils in our neighborhood too.
How cool about getting the email from Dannika Dark! The rain seems to have cleared out here this week and I’m so glad to see the sun! I hope you’re having a great week!
Thank you Katherine. Things are busy but going along pretty well.
Look at sweet Lulu💜 Needed that today.
Did not know that Karen Rose had another book scheduled for release!!! Thanks for that. Anne, that’s fantastic news about Tantor and Dannika Dark. Good on you for asking.
Thank you Jonetta. Lulu is a joy for all days. yes the next Read-along is lining up very well. It’s always easier when I have some support. I troll my sources for new books regularly. I still miss some stuff.
Lulu!!! So cute.
That’s great that something is finally giving your daughter some relief! You know it’s bad if you don’t even want to venture out to the zoo.
Thanks Jinjer. yes my daughter has been having a very rough couple weeks. Lulu makes everything better though.
