When Elara flees corporate life to open a coffee shop in the small southern town of Fairhaven Falls, the last thing she is looking for is a relationship. But when she meets Grondar, the gruff orc owner of the bakery next door, sparks fly. Literally.
Grondar has been burned by human females before. He has no intention of letting the feisty little female next door get under his skin - no matter how attractive he finds her. And it certainly doesn’t mean he’s going to let her get away with sabotaging his business.
Despite their disastrous first meeting, Elara still finds herself having inappropriately heated thoughts about the massive orc next door. The attraction seems to be completely one-sided - until he reluctantly comes to her rescue and she discovers a very different side to the grumpy male.
A human woman looking for a reset on her life leaps out of the city and her dying career to take a leap of faith on opening a new coffee shop in a mountain small town predominantly populated by supernaturals. A not-so-great meet cute with the grumpy orc baker next door launches their grumpy-sunshine sizzling hot romance.
I’ve enjoyed a couple of Honey Phillips’ sci-fi romances so when I spotted Cupcake For My Orc Enemy as a first in series freebie, I wanted to give her paranormal romance a try. This read fast and had a cozy feel to it since the focus was on the main pair’s mega hot attraction and their efforts to fight said attraction because of being burned hard on love in the past.
The paranormal aspect was about their differences at first and how intrigued Elara and Grondar were about each other’s race and then later about how fun being different was during sexy times. There is also a witch coven who add a fun secondary part and Grondar’s mischievous grandmother that gives him a swift boot up the butt when he’s getting in his own way of happiness.
Between Elara’s specialty coffees and Grondar’s baking, I was ready to head out to the closest bakery I could find.
All in all, this was a hotter than hades yet sweet paranormal romance I can recommend to those who want a quick, low-key read in a fun supernatural mountain town of lovable monsters.

I’ve read a couple of her books and really liked them. This sounds fun.
Yes, this was just a laid back fun one- a cozy PNR if there is such a genre, Mary! 🙂
Awww I’m loving that Orcs are making some main characters lately lollll. Normally it is elves and etc, but it’s nice to see the underrated Orc make appearances in stories in a GOOD way.
Yep, sexy, grumpy orc gets his turn in the limelight. 🙂
This sounds cute and a great pick up for a freebie!
It sure was, Jen! Definitely had me eying the rest of the series. 🙂
I think I got this as a freebie through a Facebook ad, so I now that you’ve given it such a great review I need to give it a try! Great review, glad to see it was a good one!
Yes, it was fun and light, but steamy. Enjoy, Lisa!
