The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I did a little visiting, sidetracked to spend an hour reading / deleting emails. I wrote a couple reviews, edited one. I looked at the possibilities in the Audible Sale. I got 18 items for $41. Some were ones which have not been this discounted before. I firmed up the menu plan. I walked Lulu a little further to the pool / park because it was so nice. After dinner, I packed all the rotisserie chicken into freezer bags to be used later for soup, casserole or salads. My daughter has been taking a Lactaid type tablet with dairy and it has been a big improvement for her gastro issues.
Monday, I did the usual computer stuff. There was laundry and I finally scrubbed out under the sink so I can put everything back since there is no sign of water leaking in the past week. I did more research on home insurance. I’m debating my list of too many books I want to read for the 4 review spots I have left in August. Our Factor order arrived. I have free boxes I can give to friends if anyone is interested, but I need your email to share it with you. My daughter has finally had 24 hours without the migraine! She even walked with me and Lulu before dinner and we saw the neighbor and Abby. During dinner prep, I got everything back under the kitchen sink. After dinner, I packed up the last of the rotisserie chicken, the dark meat, for Lulu food.
Tuesday, I got up early. I did the usual computer stuff, wrote a review, created setups for new ARCs received. I walked Lulu and again hot but moderate humidity. We left early to my daughter’s PT appt, picking up her RX at Harris Teeter and she went to 2 Dollar Trees to get a calendar and some butterfly stickers. After her PT appt, we stopped at Aldis and they had our favorite Honey & Balsamic Winter veggie blend. We got one package last year and weren’t able to get more. We are both excited – I bought 6 and hope to get more before they disappear again. I did a bit more computer work before dinner and then while it was cooking unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. After dinner, I did some vacuuming and scrubbed the swing top where it was getting some mold, spraying it with a mold remover. I watered the garden. There are peppers almost ready and I picked about 8 cherry tomatoes.
Wednesday, more of the usual computer stuff. We left for a check in with my daughter’s PCP on all the issues we are working on and how it is going. She decided to do some other blood tests. Then I got some items from Wegmans and TraderJoes before going to the compounding pharmacy for her other new RX. We got home during rush hour. After I put things away, I walked Lulu before dinner. I was falling asleep by 8:30 and ended up napping until almost 10, then I stayed up and finished my book.
Thursday, I am so happy to have a day at home to work on stuff! I put together an Amazon order for a few things we needed. Then I called about home insurance, asked more questions, and finally purchased a plan. Our Google Thermostat said No Power and the temperature got up to 80. I called Walter. He and his son came over but the power came on. He said to call him if it happened again. The last issue with the HVAC was the switch so they checked that. About 5, I saw I had an email from the HOA about the tarp in my driveway, so I walked Lulu and then shoveled and hauled 4 wheelbarrows of dirt to finish moving the dirt and tarp off the driveway. Tired, dirty and thirsty, I showered. I made a batch of food for Lulu and a strawberry, nectarine cobbler. We had dinner and then I went back to the computer but I didn’t get to Feedly today so it will be a big batch tomorrow.
Friday, after a bit of computer stuff, at noon we went to get our hair trimmed. It’s been 3-4 years. The photos are all before the haircuts. My daughter’s hair is to her knees and she got 3 inches off plus her bangs trimmed. Mine was to below my butt, and I got 10 inches so it’s at my waist now which is great. Finally I caught up on my Feedly. I started doing some planning for July reading. Before dinner, my daughter walked with me and Lulu. I went up after dinner to finish up the post for tomorrow. My daughter won a free photo shoot and portrait with Lulu so we will see if we can get that scheduled.
Saturday, I’ve done some research the last few days and it is not just the humidity % that makes things feel hotter, it is also the dewpoint. The dewpoint this weekend here will be in the 70s even though the daytime humidity will be moderate. That surprised me because I thought if one was high so was the other. I got a cooler and lawn chairs cleaned up since we were planning to go to a Summerfest Symphony Concert but my daughter ended up not feeling well. I do think it would have been terribly hot. I walked Lulu in the early afternoon when I usually don’t because it’s high UV but it wasn’t horrible. I’m handling the heat better than I expected this year.
The last White Trash Zombie chat is tomorrow – today Sunday. I loved the series so much!
Chapter 3 starts July 1 and of course, I’m in.
This chapter of July, August, September has all the great summer lack of rules. Any format, any price, any source – Just keep reading.
Check out the rules here COYER Summer Chapter 3.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to Macmillan Audio, Brilliance Audio, Karen Grey, Minotaur Books,
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I purchased this one for $2.99 at the Audible Daily deal. I also purchased a bunch of audiobooks in the Audible sale. Mostly they were to add to series where I own other books. There were 18 titles for about $41. I did spend a credit on the latest Angela Marsons.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Oh wow, you both have such long hair! I’m thinking about cutting mine really short, I haven’t had a good haircut since Covid. Try to stay cool this week😁
Thanks Tammy. We hadn’t cut ours for so long either. The heat isn’t bad if you chose your timing to do things, and at least it is light later in the evening.
Oh my gosh your hair is so long!! I would go crazy if my hair was that long. Glad to hear your daughter was 24 hours migraine free! That’s great! It’s been miserably hot here, but the last couple days there have been clouds, so that helped a ton. The heat doesn’t show any signs of letting up anytime soon and its still June. I can’t imagine how hot July and August will be! Have a wonderful week!
We usually put our hair up so people don’t realize how long it is. I’m worried about July and August too. We have had no rain for a couple weeks also. But it’s not bad in the evening or morning if there is a breeze and lower humidity. Morning always has higher humidity but before or after dinner are better walking times right now.
Oh wow talk about super long hair Anne!
My daughter does a lot more styles with hers. I mostly do a french braid and keep it out of my face.
Wow, you both have such long, beautiful hair. I’m so happy to hear that your daughter is migraine free for 24 hours. That’s great news and I hope it continues. Hope you have a great week!
Thanks Yvonne. Our hair is shorter now but still past our waists. My daughter has still had some issues but no migraines that lasted all day after she took meds.
Your hair is so long! I had a friend in high school who had to keep her long hair short or she got bad headaches, I wonder if that would help your daughter at all? Although probably not if they are migraine headaches. Such a busy week! See you on the chat in a bit!
Thanks Lisa. That busy week just is every week these days.
That is great news your daughter had 24 hours migraine free and seems to be doing a tad better this week. Fun that you scored your favorite veggie blends and could stock up. Your cherry tomatoes sound delicious. Hope your recovered from shoveling all that dirt out of the drive and all your errands. 🙂 Such gorgeous hair you both have. Mine is getting long to my butt and needing a trim, too.
Looks like you scored a nice haul at the Audible sale. I just picked up two that had been on the wish list for a while.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. I am glad to have the trim. It’s still to my waist but 10 inches shorter so easier to manage. I was glad to see some things in the sale which were at better prices than I have ever seen for them.
Wow! Long hair!! I have pretty long hair but not that long.
And nicceeee gets!
Thank you Carole Rae. I am really happy with my new books.
Wow, your hair is longer than mine was before I got it cut this winter! I’ll bet it feels good to have some of that weight off it. Mine is almost to my waist again; I’m thinking of cutting it a bit shorter.
I’m so glad your daughter finally got a good break in the migraines. And I’m glad your sink stopped leaking. I hope the AC doesn’t cut out on you again, though.
I took advantage of that Audible sale as well. (Boy, did I!) Mostly books I have read before, to be honest.
Have a great week, Anne, and stay cool.
Thank you. I was glad to cut off 10 inches as it is easier to manage but still to my waist. Last week’s problems are so last week. I have new ones this week. We finally got a break in the heat today; it’s been hot.
Wow, you both have such long hair! I just had four inches chopped off mine because it was getting to be too much. I have a lot of hair, so it feels like a lot in the heat. I just looked up dewpoint, because I didn’t understand it. We have a low dewpoint here, at 48 and our humidity is 22%. Still, the 92 degrees it is right now feels hot in the full sun. I thought we were cooling down more, but we’re at 90 all week. Not a surprise since it is summer. Yeah, that concert for you probably would’ve been a little on the miserable side with the heat! I try to water and do all my outside stuff either early or late. I haven’t been out running this last week. I’ve been doing weight workouts inside, but I do want to get out for a run or two this week.
Ooooh, the new Orphan X!
I can’t imagine how stressful it is for you and your daughter to have to contend with her frequent migraines. You really got your money’s worth from your haircuts! Have a great week.
Thank you Jodie. It was great to get it shorter with the heat and it’s easier to manage. My daughter has had a better migraine week with none lasting the whole day. So a few flareups but not continuous now.
Thanks Rachel. Mine is to the waist which is 10 inches less and so much easier to manage. Our dewpoint is 70s UGH and the humidity has been 40=80%. Temps in the 90s. Today we got a break and it was 82! Nice. I’m hoping we can make this Saturday’s concert. It’s supposed to be mid 90s but it depends on the clouds, dewpoint and humidity still. YES Orphan X!!
Wow such long hair! I prefer mine to just above shoulder length these days.
HOA’s are a ridiculous feature of US culture it seems to me!
It’s midwinter here so it’s chilly, but the lack of humidity is such a relief after a hot summer. I hope it was just a glitch with your AC it’s definitely the wrong time of the year to be without it.
Wishing you a great reading week
Thank you Shelleyrae! The AC has been hanging in there. My hair is still to my waist but it’s 10 inches shorter and much easier to manage. We finally got a break today but July and August are just HOT.
Such long hair! 🙂 I keep mine short, just barely touching my shoulders. It means frequent trims but I don’t mind. I like the look and feel of shorter hair on me. The humidity here was off the charts over the weekend. It felt like we were swimming through thick, wet air. Yuck. That’s summer in Florida, though. I just love the convenience of rotisserie chicken. Often it’s cheaper to buy a rotisserie than buy a whole chicken and cook it your self. Plus it’s so versatile.
Exactly – I totally agree about rotisserie chicken being a deal. I’m glad my hair is shorter now with this heat. Today was a break but there won’t be many until September.
Wow both of you have such long hair!! That had to feel so different to wash, after having 10 inches cut off. I always feel like where did my hair go after a haircut and it is not ever that much. It sounds like you had a good productive week, despite the aircon issues!
Thank you Erin. It’s much lighter and easier to manage now. I did but 6-10 inches every 2-3 years for about 15 years for Locks of Love so I am used to a big cut. It’s still at my waist though.
Such good news about your daughter being headache free for a day with the meds. My hair is about to my waist and I need to get about 6 inches off of it. I have natural curls but they get weighted down by the weight. I had a 5 day weekend due to 2 state holidays and kind of took a blog break while painting my bathroom. We don’t have Central Air since our house is 124 years so I did it in stages over 4 years. We do have AC downstairs and in the BR at least which is good because it was an awful humidity week here. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Thanks Barb. Yes mine is at my waist now and much easier. My daughter has had some days with meds but the headaches haven’t stayed which is a relief. Today we got a break only 82 and cloudy so it felt good, a north breeze. It won’t be often now until Sept it will be HOT.
My hair was that long 15 years ago for my wedding. I’ve not grown out past my shoulders. It must feel great to get a cut. Sounds like another busy week. I also picked up some Audible audios that where on sale this month. Have a great week.
Thank you Angela. yes it is much easier now with it shorter.
I worked some off hours last week for a special housing event. Then I went to see MJ The Musical on Sunday, therefore missing the chat. Then this Monday-Tuesday, I was out of town with my daughter at her college orientation. I’m looking forward to some down time!
Sounds fun but what is down time? I’m not familiar with that. lol
Yay! So glad your daughter went 24 hours without a migraine. Hopefully this week has been better for her as well. Wow! I thought I had long hair – that’s impressive! I hope you’re having a wonderful week.
Thank you Katherine. My daughter has had 6 days out of 29 this month where she didn’t have a migraine. It will be a better week if somethings doesn’t break. I sent you a free Factor box to the email on your blog, if you want to try it.
