The weirdness level of my life has reached an all-time high. Which is saying something, considering I started out as a psychic conman and somehow ended up as a MagiPol agent. And not just any agent. Lately, I’ve been Captain Blythe’s right-hand man and most trusted confidant.
Yeah, I know. Super weird.
It’s also kind of awkward, because unbeknownst to her, I’ve also teamed up with her most loathed nemesis, Darius King, guild master of the Crow and Hammer and the number one guy on the Consilium’s “To Be Eliminated” list.
Oh, and the Consilium? It’s just a secret organization embedded deep in the upper echelons of the MPD that’s using its nefarious influence to take over the world. Or destroy it. We’re still figuring that part out.
“We” being me and Blythe. And me and Darius. But not Blythe and Darius. Like I said, it’s awkward.
Unfortunately, the Consilium knows we’re on to them. It’s only a matter of time before they reveal how much power they truly wield—and eliminate all three of us for good.
In the Guild Codex Warped. The overall story arc is connected and like most urban fantasy, I would read them in order. It is also connect with the overall Guild Codex Universe. With Stolen Sorcery & Other Misadventures, we are now past the end of Spellbound, Demonized and Unveiled series. I found this reading order on the author’s website.
The action continues and doesn’t stop. Kit is working with Captain Blythe and also Darius. He is selectively passing information he learns while working with the other. Lienna is at home with her family and they miss each other.  Kit continues to work with the mole to get more MPD information, but more to keep himself hidden.
Blythe, Darius and Kit are working on who is killing or disappearing MPD heads. Kade is a main target of their research. Kit is traveling a lot with Darius. We learn much more about Darius and his past and I am here for it! We also learn about the rift between Blythe and Darius.  The Consilium is targeting Kit, but his powers are really changing.
The Consilium is after a weapon and I have some ideas about that. The groups chase each other and have clashes throughout. I really thought Mage Assassins & Other Misfits might be the last in the series but the ending shows we will get more! I loved the further development of Darius, the relationship between Kit and Lienna, and the changes in Kit. The humor and culture references are always fun.
Narration:
I’ve really settled into Toma as a narrator for this series and the voices for these characters. Both male and female characters have distinct voices which are comfortable. I was able to listen at my normal 1.5x speed.

How fun!!
Thanks. Annette Marie books are always fun.
It’s a nice surprise to get more of a series you thought was over. Glad you enjoyed it, Anne!
This does sound like a good book. I haven’t read this author before but I might in the future now.
Being me, a read in order sort, I’d start at the beginning with Tori, the bartender at the Crow & Hammer’s series Spellbound. You could read any of the series starting at the beginning but they do overlap and do a lot of world-building.
It’s been a while since I read this genre and this brings back great memories. Wonderful review, Anne💜
These Guild Codex series by Annette Marie and there are several are all so fun. They mostly aren’t too heavy and are action packed.
I really need to read more urban fantasy and I like the sound of this one! Great review!
These are totally fun and I would start at the beginning of whichever series you choose though.
Glad you’re enjoying these. It does sound like it could be a good series.
Thanks Lisa. It’s really a great set of series. No doubt I will do a Read-along at some point but I’ve been reading them so it’s too recent for me.
Nice. I love when one door closes, another opens in a series (like Kate Daniels!).
These are really good if you haven’t tried them. I’ve been reading them all so I’ll do a Read-along in a few years.
