Jake "the Snake" Sommers earned his SEAL code name by striking quickly and quietly-and with lethal force. That's also how he broke Michelle Carter's heart. It was the only way to keep her safe-from himself. Four long years later, Jake is determined to get a second chance. But to steal back into Michelle's loving arms, Jake is going to have to prove he can take things slow. Real slow...
She Aims To Make Him Beg
Michelle Carter has never forgiven Jake for being so cliche as to "love her and leave her." But when her brother, head of the Black Knights elite ops agency, ticks off the wrong mobster, she must do the unimaginable: place her life in Jake's hands. No matter what they call him, this man is far from cold-blooded. And once he's wrapped around her heat, he'll never let her go...
This is the third in The Black Knights Inc. series and the second I’ve listened to audio. Rev It Up is my favorite so far. Perhaps, because I know the characters and world better. The stories don’t include very much about motorcycles, not really. Other than flashbacks, there isn’t much about their missions. The stories are the romance and happenings in their day-to-day lives or the blow back of missions onto personal lives..
The bad guys from a previous operation are out to kill them. It’s personal. So the BKI team is on alert. They need to catch the bad guys before they kill any of their own. I appreciate their caution and intelligence; they don’t make too many mistakes.
Jake has just returned to town to join the group and win the woman he has always loved. I guessed one of the subplots immediately. Many of the problems between Jake and Michelle could be solved if they talked to each other honestly and believed each other. But as in real life, trust isn’t easy. Jake has the looks of my dream guy. Of course, he has issues which kept him out of town the past few years.
I’m enjoying Abby Craden’s narration and becoming settled into her voices for the characters. The pace is good and she’s clear to understand. These are just coming out on audio and I’m lucky enough to have gotten the next two for review also, so I can continue in audio mode.

Reading this book contributed to these challenges:
- Anne: 2017 Audiobook Challenge
- Anne: COYER Winter Storm
I have most of the books in this series but I haven’t gotten around to starting it yet. I’ve enjoyed Walker’s Deep Six series so I will read this series this year at some point.
