Tick . . . Tick . . . "Wild" Bill Reichert knows a thing or two about explosives. The ex-Navy SEAL can practically rig a bomb blindfolded. But there's no way to diffuse the inevitable fireworks the day Eve Edens walks back into his life, asking for help . . . Boom! Eve doesn't know what to do when the Chicago police won't believe someone is out to hurt her. The only place to turn is Black Knights Inc-after all, no one is better at protection than the covert special-ops team. Yet there's also no one better at getting her all turned on than Billy Reichert. She has a feeling this is one blast from the past that could backfire big time .
I’m enjoying the audios in the Black Knights Inc series. Abby Craden is an easy listen. I do feel as though the character’s voices are running together but this is because there are certain expressions, slang, the author uses for multiple characters. Now those who are together, the guys, it makes some sense. But the women don’t all know each other before they “join” the group or even after, so it bugs me when they use it..
Eve is Becky’s best friend and was involved with her brother, Bill, when she was young. She certainly has not had things too easy in an emotional sense, but she is learning and has come into her own. She wants to see if she can start fresh with Billy. He doesn’t trust her because of the past.
Born Wild has action, a mystery of sorts and a romance. This relationship has a past, as does Rev It Up, so the couple has previous issues to resolve, but then tends to get together more quickly. The mystery in these books is either who is out to kill them or where the killers are.
I find it odd so many instances in one related group where people are trying to kill them for personal reasons, rather than related to their work. In fact, we don’t get much on the covert ops side, at all. And for guys with skills, they sure run around unarmed or unprepared when they should be on alert!
So while I don’t find the Black Knights extremely realistic, it is still fun. I’m always excited about the next potential couple and to see the characters I already know and love.
