This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre.
The genre here, by my definition, is series where the main character(s) is a former military guy. There are many and these are the ones which came to mind. Since I haven’t read everything, it’s a subset of the possibilities. I’m sure I am forgetting some great authors, even some of the K9 series are former military. There are also plenty of authors I have yet to read. Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.
My favorite former military guys series are (in no particular order):
The Unsung Hero Forgotten Sins Fractured Honor
by Suzanne Brockmann by Rebecca Zanetti by Kaylea Cross
A Seal’s Seduction Hard As It Gets Midnight Rescue
by Tawny Weber by Laura Kaye by Elle Kennedy

Okay, I’ve read so many and loved them… LOL
This is a sci-fi series, but several of the heroes and heroines were former military: Carol Van Natta’s Central Galactic Concordance. And, this is a historical western series, Leigh Greenwood’s Night Riders.
There is only one novel and a novella so far in each, but I like Juno Rushdan’s Final Hour and also Rebecca Zanetti’s Deep Ops.
Death and the Devil m/m series by LJ Hayward, Donna Grant’s Heart of Texas series, Auction Block cozy mysteries by Loretta Roth, Kate Sherwood’s m/m Common Law series, Abigail Roux’s m/m Cut & Run series, Katie Reus’ Deadly Ops, Stephanie Tyler’s Viper’s Run and her SE Jakes’ Hell or High Water and Havoc MC m/m series.
These have former military frequently, but not necessarily every book in series: Rebecca York, Helen Kay Dimon, Lori Foster, and Tori St. Claire.
I’m sure I read more that I liked, but this is as far as my memory would stretch. LOL
Yes there is no shortage of this category and certainly I forgot some I love.
I’ve read a few that had former military in them. I enjoyed the early books in the Black Knights Inc. series by Julie Ann Walker. The K-9 Rescue series by D.D. Ayres is great and my favorite is Primal Force which features Lauray “Law” Batisse a Military Police veteran who was wounded in Afghanistan. And, last Laura Kaye’s new series Warrior Fight Club is all about those former military men.
I have read all of these. I’m reading Primal Force right now. 🙂
I hope you are enjoying.
Hands down, Troubleshooters is my most favorite series featuring military heroes. It’s the standard I hold for all the rest.
It’s number 1 for me also!
