Macayla Burkett is no ordinary private eye. She’s a pet detective, dedicated to tracking down missing dogs and cats. When two famous racing greyhounds disappear and turn up dead, Macayla finds herself in the midst of a much more serious case. And when the thieves target her and threaten her life, she realizes she’s in grave danger—until a ridiculously handsome stranger enters the picture …
Oliver Kelly may look like a male stripper, but his muscles aren’t just for show. The gorgeous Australian is co-owner of a K-9 Search and Rescue service dedicated to saving those in danger. When he and his K-9 partner, an Australian shepherd named Jackeroo, rescue the fiery detective from trouble, the sparks begin to fly. And when they join forces to stop a widespread case of animal theft, it unleashes a torrent of passion that’s impossible to tame…
I liked the inclusion of more actual work with dogs although not exactly K9 aspects. I did enjoy the connection to the rest of the series, even though it was small. Kye and Yardley were here a bit, which is appropriate for the last book in the K9-9 Rescue series.
Mac is a “pet detective” for a private investigation firm. She finds lost pets. She also works at a veterinarian grooming dogs. She has moved away from her original career and family after a traumatic event. She is struggling to build a new life.
Oliver is the partner of Kye in a K9 SAR business. Oliver is enjoying his life and success. He runs into Mac when she is working on the job and has a bit of trouble. He helps out, which she insists isn’t necessary, but he is a big help. Once Oliver has helped he can’t seem to stop helping. He is only in town for a conference but wants to know Mac better.
Their attraction is sizzling and they do help each other. Mac continues to have issues. Oliver helps until he leaves town for a new mission. Someone(s) is out to get Mac and she can’t seem to catch a break, other than the hunk of sexy man who is eager to assist.
I loved the banter, the work with dogs and the suspenseful mystery. Both Mac and Oliver have personal growth as they deal with their feelings and their careers. I always enjoy that. Physical Forces is one of my favorites in the series and I’m sorry to see the end of the series.
Narration:
Jeffrey Kafer is the voice of this series. He is also a talented narrator I always enjoy. I enjoyed his voice for Oliver though of course, I don’t know if it’s correct or not. I was able to listen at my usual 1.5x speed.

If I enjoy the audibles for this series. I’m thinking of also reading them!
I’m not sure why you would want to do that. They are good but not amazing. The narrator is excellent.
