Danger is heating up…
When Carly Reese’s beloved fashion boutique catches fire, she sees her dreams go up in smoke. The good news is that Carly was saved from the flames by a barking dog nearby. She soon discovers the heroic pooch is a trained K-9 who’s guarding his unconscious partner …a gorgeous firefighter who ends up in Carly’s arms.
Noah Glover and his K-9 are a fearless duo, and Noah has clearly met his match with the brave, beautiful Carly. Soon they team up to track down the arsonist behind the blast – a psychotic criminal who’s intent on framing Noah. Meanwhile, the sparks between Noah and and Carly could ignite a five-alarm fire. Should they smother their feelings in the name of justice…or fan the flames of passion?
I really enjoy the K9 aspects of this series but there wasn’t a lot of it in this story. The main guy, Noah is a single dad and a firefighter. Carly used to be a supermodel and has come home to form a dream boutique. They are strong characters with integrity. There is almost no connection to the other books in the K9-9 Rescue series. So this could definitely be read as a standalone, or out of order.
Noah gets tangled into a serious mess right away. Carly steps in to help and gets pulled into it also. Carly’s business is fascinating. Both of them are good people who work to make things better for everyone. Noah’s co-workers were not as supportive as I would expect though. Both of their families were great and added to the story overall with good supporting characters.
Noah and Carly have a quick attraction which goes way too fast. It’s not very realistic with the romance and a few of Noah’s other actions would not be smart professionally. I know, emotions were high in a dangerous situation. It was just too quick for me. Overall, Explosive Forces was fast, frightening with suspense and sexy.
Narration:
Jeffrey Kafer is one of those narrators I always enjoy. He handles everything well with appropriate voices and brings an emotional performance. I was able to listen at my usual 1.5x speed.

The more I see you enjoying this series. the more excited I get to start them myself. They should be arriving in the mail soon.
Oh you get the CDs? I always get digital now. Less to take with me, move, carry around, or take time to get onto the computer and then the phone.
I did enjoy this series.
I love Kate Ruggle so I imagine I would enjoy this series. Lovely review!
They are in the same genre. I think Ruggle connects the books in the series more than this series does.
