You know that squirmy sensation in your gut when you have no idea what you're doing and you're about to screw everything up?
Yeah, that feeling.
I thought I was a good judge of character, but recent events proved me very wrong. Now, in a brilliant demonstration of my newfound caution, I'm putting all my faith in a demon—a demon who's tried to kill me before. The squirmy feeling is making sense, right?
Unfortunately, I don't have any other options. Ezra's time is almost up, which means I need answers and I need them fast. So it's time to toughen up, pack my gear, and find me one of the most illegal, reviled, and scarce mythics out there: a demon-mage summoner.
And all I have to do is follow a demon's instructions on where to look. How could that go wrong?
I have been waiting and on the edge to learn when the Guild Codex Spellbound series will merge with Guild Codex Demonized. There is a Guild Codex Universe on Goodreads which combines them for reading order. The overall story arc is connected and like most urban fantasy, I would read them in order.
Lost Talismans and a Tequila brings us a step closer to that merger. Our primary point of view is Tori, who is struggling with wanting to do more than she has skills or knowledge to manage. She goes out of town with Aaron and Kai to try to get more information to help Ezra. Her brother, Justin joins her which is a nice change to them being somewhat estranged.
Wow, are things dangerous and messed up on the trip. There was plenty of smart strategy and heart-racing action. I won’t spoil the shocking revelations but WTF? While she is gone, Ezra is trying to keep control of himself. And happily, we get some Ezra point of view in this story. He has gotten to know Robin and that is a good thing.
Tori and Ezra both show personal growth and I am so happy to see it. Now Ezra is finally fighting for his life and there are more allies than any of them knew to find a way for what they all want.
Narration:
Cris Dukehart has been the main voice for this world. I am so comfortable with her voice for Tori, and Robin as well. Teddy Hamilton takes on the smaller sections for Ezra. Their audio performance increases my enjoyment of this series. I was able to listen at my normal 1.5x speed.

I loved everything about this book! I never saw the revelations or twists coming!
I am so glad Ezra is now fighting… I love his level of badassery in this book.
Slightly terrified of how it’ll all end though.
I was so excited. Finally they will work together. I love this series.
Love it! Even though I don’t read the series, I’m excited with you. And every time I see your reviews I wish I’d started the series… Now it feels like there are too many books to catch up!
There aren’t that many books plus the series is near the end. I only started reading on the trip last year when I met you. But I have 8 hours in the car some days to listen to a book or so. This would be a great series to do for a Read-along at some point.
I love how high your rating is for a book 7 in the series. Sounds like the author is doing a great job keeping up the momentum?
It is awesome. The series is getting close to the end. It’s really fun without being too heavy. The author is doing a great job with giving us a new book every 3-4 months instead of waiting a year too.
I really enjoyed this installment as well, there was plenty going on and it was interesting having Ezra’s point of view as well.
Yes I thought it was a winner all around for so many reasons.
I’ve only read one Annette Marie book so far but I really enjoyed it so I’m eager to read this series as well, especially since you’re still enjoying it so much this far in. 🙂
It’s fun and well written. It’s not a literary classic; it’s a great read. The author does a great job of getting a new story out every 3-4 months and the story arc over the series is compelling.
