The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday,  I heard a couple barks about 5:30am which I suspect is when my daughter went to bed.  I don’t know if I don’t hear them when it is earlier or if she doesn’t bark when it is dark.  But the barking is much less.  And I was able to go back to sleep right away.  I decided to go through all the leggings in my leggings drawer and got rid of some without pockets or that don’t fit right.  I did some watering when I took Lulu out and then it was on to see what everyone has been doing this week.  Oh last night I took photos of my daughter doing poses for her yoga class.  We about died laughing at Lulu trying to do some poses or at least get my attention.

Monday,  I woke up early enough but fell back asleep somehow.  I went through my long sleeve t-shirt drawer getting rid of those which didn’t fit right.   I spent the day working mostly on blog stuff.  I set up some things for Library Love, my 5 year Blogoversary and Sophia’s August posts.

Tuesday, it continues to get hotter this week.  I’m trying to do indoor tasks.    I picked lettuce and snow peas.  The broccoli is looking good.  I finally put together a menu plan. I’m reading to finish up books for May. During dinner prep, I did some watering as the next days will be so hot and no rain.  I ended up walking Lulu after dinner when it’s dark and hard to see the poop to pick up.  But the temperature was pleasant.

Wednesday,  today is the do things I’ve not managed yet. I called my doctor about a checkup and RX refills.  I went to the post office and a Walmart pickup.  Then I called the guy who installed our main floor furnace to do an inspection of the upstairs one and a quote for what it would cost to replace.  Then I called the home warranty to place a claim for the fridge which crushes all the ice – we want cubes.  I also figured out how to go into my online account  to place the second claim for re-key services.

Thursday,  I was stressed out about the schedule for today and woke up 2 hours early.  After taking care of some  flower watering, computer tasks and kitchen cleanup, we headed out for dental cleanings.  I was all good but my daughter has 3 cavities.  We got home just in time for the fridge repair guy and he handled it well.  The farm box arrived while he was here. Then I was waiting for the guy to re-key all our locks and he called and said it would be more like 5 instead of 3-4.  So even though I put in the comments I didn’t have any keys he said he needed those or he’d have to get another tool.  He’ll come back tomorrow late afternoon again.  I hunted in the garage and did find the keys for the deadbolts, which I called and told him.  We had a really good dinner and then took Lulu for the late night walk in the dark but the temperature was lovely.

Friday,  it’s my daughter’s 26th birthday. I slept later because I only got 5 hours of sleep the night before.  The temperature was lovely with a north wind and a drop into the 80s along with a few clouds. There was a mixup on the blog posts to juggle. I worked on my other blog stuff.  I filled my last review slot for July and I only have one left for August.  The guy came and rekeyed the locks which went pretty quickly.  I cleaned out the cabinet in the dining room finally, washing with Murphy’s oil soap.  I also did the other wood pieces in the dining room and living room and then the wood edges of the stairs.  I finally started washing the china to go in the cabinet, starting with my grandma’s tea set.  With the dining table more cleared,  we decided to play a couple games of Skip Bo.  I took Lulu for a long walk before cooking dinner.  My daughter chose what she wanted for dinner: crab alfredo, salads and lemon cake.

Saturday, I tried to get going early to do yard work.  I started a bunch of laundry and washed another batch of china. I mowed the lawn. I cut some branches. I used Preen on  the flower beds and the veggie garden. I picked a bunch of lettuce for lunch.  Lulu and I walked a medium route.  Then I showered and made up the bed with fresh sheets.   I put away the china and washed another batch.  I started the dishwasher.   Tomorrow I must write some reviews and come up with a menu plan.

May Reading:   I managed to read 22 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to 13 audiobooks, read 5  library books,  21 COYER reads,  and  2 books which I already own.

All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog)  2022 Library Love Challenge

I did manage to read 2 books I own (goal is 3 per month):

  • Where Are They Now by UD Yasha
  • 🎧  Trickster’s Point by William Kent Krueger

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My grateful thanks to Minotaur Books, AceRoc Books, Berkley Romance,  Simon & Schuster Audio, Brilliance Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I got a few deals at Chirp for $1, $4 and $5.

I decided I had to have this novella for 99¢.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. I wish I could put together a menu plan. During an improv work someone psycho-analyzed my improv dream and said I had hard time cooking due to experiences with my mother growing up but it was improv so who knows ;).

    • I find it necessary to put together a plan so I don’t just buy junk at the grocery and also so I have the ingredients I need for certain dishes. I have to watch myself not to have too many things I consider staples which then go bad before we use them. Along with wanting to have every fresh item but half going bad before I use them. I have to be selective each week.

  2. Aww, Lulu is so cute during her own yoga!!! Sounds like a really busy week! I’ve got to get better about scheduling books for review as I keep ending up with at least one week a month when I get behind and have to speed though books! I’m doing a discussion post kind of about that later this month. Hope you have a good week!

  3. Glad you were able to work around the heat. Funny about Lulu doing poses, too. One of our cats does her stretches when one of us is using the mat for our stretches. Happy Birthday to your daughter! Neat that you’re getting your dining cabinet and china cleaned up and put away. Always great feeling to go through stuff and make more space.
Way to go with your monthly reading/listening numbers. Love seeing your good library numbers. Yay for getting Soul Taken!

    Have a great week, Anne!

    • Thank you Sophia! It is great to get the china into the cabinet where it can be admired and maybe even used after 7 years in boxes. My daughter and I have both slowly worked on the projects to get more settled. You would think with Covid and being home we would have done more and faster but it didn’t work that way. There were also repair projects around the house which happened first.

  4. Aww I love Lulu doing yoga. Lol. And your garden sounds like it is doing great! I am so excited about ours right now as well. I have been able to pick strawberries every morning and eat them standing right there sometimes! And my husband and my son were sitting next to the lettuce the other day, just peeling off leaves and eating it just from the garden as well, which makes me so happy.

    • Thank you. It is so satisfying to eat things you have grown and that taste better than things you can buy. Here in NC the growing season is long and some things do well over the winter. The fall broccoli is often good until January. The chard was planted last year and is still growing more leaves this year.

  5. That sounds cute, Lulu trying to do poses. 🙂 It hasn’t really warmed up here yet, surprising for Michigan in early June, but it’s been cool. Barely hitting seventies. That’ll change though so don’t complain Greg lol. Anyway… A Caribbean Mystery looks fun. I’m very fond of that cover 🙂

  6. I didn’t know you could use your home warranty to re-key the locks! I should try that. We bought new knobs and keys for both the garage doors, but we haven’t done anything with the front door. Sounds like you’ve had some nice weather. It’s been pouring all day here today, but will be in the 80s and upper 90s by the end of the week. I haven’t been getting good sleep either. I wake up and think of everything that has to be done with this house and move. So, so much!

I just requested Soul Taken. We’ll see. I want the new Orphan X but will wait to request it.

    • The re-key is one of the things they stressed when I got the policy. The warranties are often purchased with purchase of a new home and it is something one wants to do. The weather seems to be alternating between a week of 90s then a week of 80s and I like the 80s better. I don’t know if we will get the 80s after the next round of 90s though. I’ll want Orphan X on audio!

  7. Happy birthday to your daughter! Love Lulu doing yoga. She’s such a cutie! Beautiful flowers and your garden looks great. I miss having my own home grown veggies but I need to hit up a farm stand soon for fresh tomatoes. I hope you have a wonderful week!

  8. Thank you for sharing about COYER reads! I had no idea what they were, but think that challenge is a fabulous one! I also am a prolific audiobook reader. Knot Again sounds like a fun read. Thank you for sharing!

    • Thank you Patricia. COYER is my favorite challenge and the only one I do other than the Library one I host. COYER is very diverse with book clubs, read-athons, and they adopted my Read-along. It’s a really great group of people. One can participate in a small way or in a big way. There are many options / choices.

    • Thanks Suzanne. We think Lulu is the cutest. I tried to do mostly yellows, pinks and purples in my daylilies. I did still end up with some oranges and reds. But I love them as low care perennials. There are more blooming you will see in the next week’s Sunday post.

    • Thank you Tanya. I think it is hard to get back on track after a vacation. So take care of yourself. Yes we are loving our garden. It’s one among many reasons I wanted to find a home where we could stay for many years and set it up the way we want.

  9. Jen

Sounds like a good week. Happy birthday to your girl! The yoga videos sound fun. My week last week was good – lots of emotions. My son’s last day of school and his last lacrosse game. It hit me a lot harder than I thought. Good news that my daughter and I finished our covid isolation (she went back to school Wednesday). I still have a lingering cough – but that’s from allergies… the pollen count is so high and I worked in the yard all weekend. We also got some new patio furniture!

  10. Hahahahahaha can it get any more “first world problems” than this? Then I called the home warranty to place a claim for the fridge which crushes all the ice – we want cubes.

But no, I get it. We like our ice a certain way!!! I like crushed. As does a guy I work with and once, when we were both still working in the physical office, he told me he bought a little machine that does nothing but crush ice. I need that!

crab alfredo, salads and lemon cake sounds delicious! Happy Birthday to your daughter!

    • Thanks Jinjer. Well the fridge normally does both. I watched him fix it and I think I can do it myself next time if it happens again. But now we can get the cubes in the door instead of opening the door and sticking our hands in the bin to get cubes.

  11. Your veggies are looking good. I have those day lillies in my garden, though mine won’t flower until July or August. Ouch on your daughters 3 cavities and I hope she had a great birthday.
