This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre or topic.
The topic here, by my definition, is a series set in the state of Washington. These are the ones which came to mind. I enjoyed some more than others. The team had to help me find some of these.
Since I haven’t read everything, it’s a subset of the possibilities. I’m sure I am forgetting some great authors. There are also plenty of authors I have yet to read. Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.
My favorite Washington State series are (in no particular order):
JP Beaumont Tracy Crosswhite Morgan Dane
by JA Jance by Robert Dugoni by Melinda Leigh
Georgia Kincaid Mercy Thompson Mercy Kilpatrick
by Richelle Mead by Patricia Briggs by Kendra Elliot

This was wayyyyy back then but I remember loving the rainy Forks, Washington because of the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.
Good catch Jen. I didn’t think of that but I went further back than that for JP Beaumont.
I made a mistake and only voted for one. Of course, I would have added the two by Melinda Leigh!
There are so many great series set there and I love Seattle myself.
My favorite is Tracy Crosswhite by Robert Dugoni because he has a great way of telling the story.
That’s one of the 3 I voted for. It’s a series I really love and I feel fortunate I found it in the earliest days of using Kindle Unlimited on a free trial. Of course, I picked these 6 because I love them all.
I’ve read the Kendra Elliot and Patricia Briggs series, but I haven’t gotten to that particular Melinda Leigh series yet. I’ve been meaning to try Robert Dugoni’s books at some point. I’ve read from series that have had books set in WA State, but I don’t remember loving a whole series set there. Oh wait, I think a Jayne Ann Krentz trilogy I enjoyed was set there. 🙂
Yes the JAK recent trilogy was set in Washington. I enjoy these more than that one. You really need to try Tracey Crosswhite. It ranks in the top 3 of these 6 for me, that and Mercy Thompson would be my top 2. But I love them all. Actually I probably should have included the new Bree Taggert series which I like just as much as the Morgan Dane one.
The Mercy Thompson series is definitely my favorite set in Washington State.
That and Tracey Crosswhite would be my top 2, but the Melinda Leigh series would rate right up there also. REally I picked all of them because I love them.
I love this idea for a post! I have not read any of these series, but I did like Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series that is set in a fictional town in Washington State.
Thanks Wendy. I’ve been doing this meme monthly since 2018. If you go under Features – Series on Saturday, you can see all the genres and subgenres etc where I have done an SoS . I think it’s fun and somehow keep coming up with ideas.
I love Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs because Mercy is a great heroine and I love all the different villains that she has to go up against, never a dull moment when it is spent with Mercy! Also The Others of Edenton and its spinoff, The Others of Seattle by Brandy L. Rivers also covers a wide of variety of villains and each couple faces all kinds of challenges!
Thanks for sharing Eva! I will have to check into these other series.
Mercy all the way!!! Off the top of my head, it’s the only series I’ve read with all of the books in WA state. I know there are a few I’ve read with a book set in Seattle or such, but not the entire series. Hmmmm… I’ll have to pay more attention to the setting in books now!
Yes I don’t always pay attention, especially if it’s a place I’ve never visited.
Patricia Brigg’s Mercy Thompson series. Mercy is an extremely interesting character and, somehow, always finds herself in dangerous situations. There are also other interesting characters in the series that I enjoy.
yes that’s one of my top 5 favorite series overall. But thankfully there are many great books to read.
