The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday,  I got a good start on my visiting and writing some reviews.  I put together a Zenni order for my daughter’s new glasses.  It’s just hot.  I worked on a menu plan for the week. After dinner, I walked Lulu.  Then we took the photos for this week’s yoga session.  I made a raspberry tart for the holiday weekend; it uses up broken graham crackers in the crust.

Monday,  I had a relaxing day for the holiday.  It was party cloudy so it didn’t seem quite as hot.  I did a bunch of blog and reading planning which I really enjoy.

Tuesday,  I knew I had a few errands like picking up my daughter’s RX and a few items at Harris Teeter.  Then the glasses came in at the eye doctor.  So those errands kind of ate up the afternoon along with my energy.  It was just so hot and humid.  I didn’t even get to Feedly. UGH  I did do a bunch of watering over dinner hour.  I made peach crisp for dessert.  My daughter finished Lulu’s blanket.

Wednesday,  I was happy to have the day at home but still too hot.  I was happy to stay inside and catch up on Feedly, emails, writing reviews and planning.  Audible is having a new 3 day 2-1 sale.  I was happy to see that the new Jim Butcher novella is in Kindle Unlimited!  I got book mail which I can use for a giveaway.  We were supposed to get heavy thunderstorms but … nothing.  I watered again over dinner.   I stayed up late reading.

Thursday, another heat advisory day.   I worked on updating some posts for the Library Mid-Year Check-in.   We got our monthly Amazon order.  We finally got a thunderstorm with some rain after dinner.

Friday, I decided I had to DO things.  I got my sheets going in the laundry and loaded up the dishwasher.  I did some commenting and computer stuff.   I went to the post office to mail a prize and picked up a couple items at Aldi.  It didn’t feel too bad when I let Lulu out but it’s a heat advisory again today.  It did rain a bit and so I was able to walk Lulu after dinner.   My really old computer with Windows 7 stopped working today.  My daughter who was using it as a second computer says she can’t function without it.  Sigh.

Saturday,  I woke up too early and then fell back asleep which meant a late start.   I’m happy to be staying a bit ahead on my reviews and reading.  I have been reading the Goodreads Librarian manual and have passed the quiz. Now to wait and see if they accept my application.  After dinner,  I weaved in the ends on the big wool blanket my daughter made. Then we had the last round of yoga pose photos to take and my daughter has her final due on Tuesday.  I’m looking forward to the Facebook chat tomorrow for the Read-along.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Marlene at  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

I am very grateful to Kensington and Tantor Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I bought these items in the Audible 2-1 sale.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Hello! I’m from a different country but it’s so hot here too even when it’s raining a lot! I’m glad you’re doing reviews; I badly want to review a book again but seems like I’m in a slump. I am also excited for tomorrow’s Facebook chat about One Grave at a Time! I always miss it because of the time difference but maybe I can join this time!

      • Jen

I am 12 hours ahead, so 3 pm for you would be 3 am for me. Basically, I live in the future 😂 I messaged on the messenger group but I’m 6 hours late and I probably missed the “room chat” (idk if that is different from chatting on the messenger group 😅😂), but it’s okay! 🖤

        • yes, that’s what I thought. It’s in the middle of the night for you. I’ve thought about earlier like 12 noon here which would be midnight for you, but that would make the rest of US fall in the morning when many might be at religious services. But it would be better for Europe too at 6 or 7pm. Maybe I will talk to people and see. But midnight on Sunday might be too late for you also with Monday a regular work or school day for most people. Saturdays seem to be much harder for people than Sundays too.

    • Vi, I am not a librarian yet. After you pass the quiz you have to write a “detailed” essay of why you want to be a librarian so who knows if my essay will be enough? You have to get 85% which means 17 out of 20 at least. Some of those questions are tricky. I’ve been reading the manual and learning more about how it works. It’s complicated.

      • Anne, thank you for your answer. After I talked with one of the active librarians, I know now that GR doesn´t want the process to be easy or less complicated for some reasons. And I agree with you. Reading the manual several times was very informative. Though I am not sure if I will do the quizz again. But one thing I know: I wish you good luck for your application 🙂 Would be great if they accept you!

    • Thank you Jodie. It is harder to do things when it is so hot, and also Covid out there, and I stay inside most of the time. I’d be doing much more without those things. But I’m not unhappy in my home. I have plenty of things I really want to do and really enjoy small everyday things. I am so happy it finally rained yesterday as it was so dry.

  2. I’ve only done a few book clubs online. I find book club dynamics to be a lot different than improv. I think you need to be assertive to get your ideas about the book out there. I’m real glad for book blogger suggestions or I would never get reading done.

    • Trin, I’m glad you are finding bloggers who help you find things to read. I always have too many ideas of what I want to read. The COYER book club has been great. There are nominations and voting on which books we will read (usually within a genre) and then a facebook chat about the book(s).

    • Thank you Tammy! I’ll tell you more if they let me do it. I’m told there is no requirement of a specific amount of time. I just want to be sure to do things correctly as it is more complicated than I thought. I’ve been reading the manual. I am in Goodreads pretty much daily so I see things I know are wrong and I just want to fix them. Also since I review a lot of audiobooks and those editions are often not there and I used to create them and now can’t unless I become a Librarian.

  3. So far, we’ve been getting lucky with our hot, sticky days mixed in with some doable warm days. Not as much rain as we’re used to at this time of the year, but I guess you can’t have it all. 🙂 Nicely done staying ahead on your review reading and posts. I’m sitting pretty with those, too. Hope your daughter does good on her final and you get your GoodReads Librarian approval. It will be handy when you come across little things that need a librarian like adding books or editions, fixing errs, or combing editions. 🙂 Your berry tart and the blanket look good.
I missed that sale, but probably good since I caught an ebook sale on Amazon. Nice haul of review and freebies, too.

    Have a good week, Anne!

    • Thank you Sophia! It’s been hot and humid but very little rain until yesterday. Finally we got some we needed and it did cool things down a bit. I don’t know if I will be approved but I really want to be able to add audiobook editions since that is what I find missing most often.

  4. Glad you had a nice 4th! I hate it when computers stop working. Don’t they know we NEED them to keep functioning? Geez… seriously though, I’ve had that problem too and it’s frustrating.

Good luck to you with the test!

    • Thank you Greg. I’m not too shocked about this computer Greg. I got this computer on a Black Friday deal at Walmart in 2011. It’s an Acer with an I5 chip which was quite advanced with good memory and hard drive. It’s actually 3 computers ago for me, as I’ve had two since then, also both still working. I feel sad because it was such a workhorse but it is pretty old. I think one of the electrical surges got it. We’ve had weird little power flickers this week.

  5. Your raspberry tart sounds and looks delicious! And congratulations on passing the Goodreads librarian quiz; I’m sure they’ll take your application. 🙂

So I must have missed something about the yoga pictures. Are you teaching a class online, or something?

Have a lovely week, and I hope it cools down a bit.

    • Thank you Kara. The raspberry tart is not too high calorie either and is cold so it’s good for hot weather. My daughter is taking a yoga class for one of her remaining electives this summer. Her final is tomorrow. She’s been taking all her classes online since Spring of 2020. It’s ironic because I tried to get her to take one before because of her health issues but she always refused. Now that she’s tried it, she only wants to take online classes. It certainly saves time and fuel costs although we only live a couple miles from campus since we moved in 2019.

  6. It’s been hot here too. Not loving it, but it’s not as hot as our old location would be. Thank goodness! It’s supposed to cool back down to the 80s next week. That’s better and it does cool down in the evening. It sucks when a computer goes down. Especially when you have a bunch of stuff set up on there for convenience like your daughter does. Hope you find a good alternative. Nice that you got an audio ARC of Storm Echo! love listening to that series. I have the e-ARC but I’ll probably buy the audio, too.

    • I hope for one day tomorrow of cooler weather and a north wind to do yardwork and then it’s back to the oven I’m sure. Thanks Wendy, I don’t know if I will be accepted but I like to create the audiobook editions when there aren’t any.

I hope this week’s heat is more bearable for you and Lulu. Oh. I really enjoyed that Jim Butcher story when it came out, do you know if he’s ever going to write the second book? I hope so. My week was pretty good. It was my first week of summer vacation and with the holiday on Monday, I lost all sense of time – just the way summer should be! LOL.

I hope the GR librarian thing works out – I’ll be able to bug you to add audiobook editions!

    • Thanks Jen! I hope the heat won’t be as bad. Tomorrow might only be 80s so I’m hoping to squeeze in the yardwork and walking. Lulu loves it SO much. YES! I loved that Jim Butcher book and it’s been 7 years! The second book has a name but who knows? I don’t know if I will be accepted but I want to be able to add the audiobooks so often, fingers crossed.

  8. Mmmm that raspberry tart looks good!

Lulu looks like she’s had about enough of the heat advisories.

I feel your pain and echo your sigh regarding the windows 97 computer since my chromebook announced it will not be installing any further updates so I should consider getting a newer model.

  9. Yes – we are also dealing with a spell of hot weather, although I’m aware our version of hot are very different. However, given that we are only ever set up for drizzle in the UK, therefore have no aircon, it can get very uncomfortable at night. I love your raspberry tart – it looks delicious. And I’m going to scamper across to Audible right now to see if the sale is still on! In the meantime, have a great week, Anne:).

  10. You have me practically drooling over the raspberry tart and the peach crisp. Yum!! I can relate to the super humid weather. It had been BAD here the last week. Temps in the low 90’s with humidity at almost 90%… ugh. The air is so thick and muggy it feels miserable. I didn’t know you were applying to be a Goodreads librarian. Very cool!

    • Thank you Tanya, We like to use our summer fruits, fruit desserts are my favorite. Today is the coolest, cloudy, 85. So I will commence with the yard work. Well I didn’t know I was going to apply to be a librarian either but I thought I’d learn about it.

  11. I’m so glad I became a goodreads libriarian before their was a quiz because it’s just handy to be able to do what I need to do, but I would hate to have to mess with being accepted! I bet you’ll get it though.

Yeah it’s been hot here too – thankfully we’re not as humid – but I also really enjoy the heat. That said, it was even a bit too hot for me yesterday! Looks like you managed to make some really yummy fruit desserts this week – which are my ABSOLUTE favorite!

    Have a great week Anne!

    • yes those errands have to happen but it feels like I don’t get anything done because I don’t get projects progressed. Errands, cleaning, paying bills, walking Lulu don’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything because it will need to be done tomorrow and the next day and the next. Of course, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy some of all of them. There is nothing like Lulu dancing along the sidewalk, after she sat by the front door whining until I got her harness on for her walk.

  12. The raspberry tart looks yummy, Anne! I was feeling a little better yesterday and got some major laundry done. That’s about all I could manage though. Our sleeping schedule is way off this week and I am hoping to get it back on track this weekend so I’ll be ready for work next week. It feels like such a wasted vacation since we’ve been sick and unproductive, but it is what it is. I hope you enjoy your weekend and week ahead!

  13. Sorry to hear about your computer troubles, but aside, it sounds like you had a relatively productive week in reading and blogging-related things! Exciting also to hear about your progress towards becoming a Goodreads Librarian — I never knew how someone could become one, so it’s cool to see another blogger going about the progress.
