Sunday, well it’s back into the 90s today but the humidity is still middling. My spaghetti squash, in spite of some mildew and bugs, finally has a squash! I hope it will make it. I did some visiting of other blogs, wrote some reviews, and worked on some planning
Monday, I did the usual stuff and some more planning. I grilled kebobs for dinner full of our favorite veggies. There were green peppers from the garden too.
Tuesday, it’s hotter again today but the mid-day walk with dogs was ok. My daughter took Kayla separately but then Lulu, Abby and Marley all together with us and they did fine. I was able to order garden soil/ compost to be delivered at a good price. Then I did a pickup at Walmart. I menu planned a bit for the next few days with simpler things. I worked on some post setups and wrote a review. After dinner, we got Marley and then sat on the couch with Marley and Lulu to watch Longmire. My daughter loved it and so we will watch more tomorrow night with the dogs. We hate to leave Marley in the crate, so we are including her in the walks and our new tv time. I got interested in the show since I am reading the book right now. They are not the same story but I’m enjoying both.
Wednesday, even hotter today, so we walked at 9am instead of 11:30am. It was a good plan. Lulu, Abby, and Marley are getting along well. It’s the girl pack on parade. I’m trying to get a review written and stuff before this afternoon. After dinner, we had another round of watching Longmire on the couch with Marley and Lulu. They were so cute together.
Thursday, yeah another hot one. After the girl pack took its walk, the guy delivered my dirt. It looks good although like less than I thought it would be. It will probably feel like plenty when I’m shoveling and hauling it. That’s going to wait a bit, this evening and tomorrow will be about 10 degrees cooler. I’ve got squash bugs killing all my squash! UGH. Our Amazon order arrived. We ate an early dinner so I could put in an hour or so moving dirt and then watch more Longmire.
Friday, I got going quickly in the morning to move dirt while it was cooler before dog walking. I can shovel the wheelbarrow full, drag the heavy thing to the back yard, and unload it into the raised bed in 15 minutes. I found a hornworm in the carrots which I eradicated. It’s going to rain later and tomorrow so I need to cover it. It’s going to be about 10 degrees cooler the next few days and then 20 degrees cooler. I’m about halfway finished, so if it cools down I’ll finish quickly. I put some into the front bed when I was running short on time this morning. Abby was resistant to walking today. Maybe because her owner was home, or maybe because Kayla is not feeling well. I started mapping out the fall planting. I made a menu plan for the week. Last night, I had a wasp in my hair after dirt moving and today it was a huge spider which fell off in the shower. I killed both but I wish they had just stayed outside. We got in another couple episodes of Longmire.
Saturday, I’m sleeping well with going to bed a bit earlier and getting up earlier. I woke to thunder booms. Today I tried on pants and I’m back in the size before the hip injury I had a couple years ago. YAY! I’m wearing pants besides leggings. It’s predicted to rain a lot today and tomorrow. It’s cooler and I would move dirt if it wasn’t so wet. I’ll do some blog ahead and a bit more cooking. Usually I don’t have the lights on during the day but it’s so dark and rainy I finally gave up and turned them on in the office. I did some reading and some blogging ahead. The weather cleared up in the late afternoon. I took Lulu on a longer walk and we saw the swans. Monday and Tuesday will be hot but not as much as last week, then we should have a nice cool down to around 82F / 28C. If the humidity isn’t too bad, that will be lovely and 15-20 degrees (F) cooler than last week.

NONE.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I hate bugs! We’ve been having a lot of wasps around this summer so we finally hung a trap. Hadn’t see as much but they were around on the porch this afternoon. I’d freak out if there was a spider or wasp in my hair! At least it didn’t sting you. We got quite a bit of rain last weekend. More than we were expecting, but it’s been sunny and warm and really nice! We watched all of Longmire a few years back. It was a great series!
I’m looking forward to The Last Devil to Die!
Thanks Rachel. I’m pretty tough about bugs but prefer to deal with them with gloves or a tissue rather than my bare hands. We got good rain yesterday both before and after I walked Lulu. It really is great not to have to water for a couple days.
Look at all that pooch love💜 Lulu still owns my heart!
Nice book haul this week. I’m waiting on that Osman book. Have a great reading week, Anne!
Thanks Jonetta. I love having all the dogs on our walk. They love it so much. Lulu always out in front, skipping and running. I’ve already finished The Last Devil to Die last night. So good.
I’m always surprised that you find freebies that I don’t see and that sound good. Although I really don’t need any more – my Kindle stays plenty full! I’m on the library list for that Schwab book and my turn is getting closer. Have a terrific week Anne and thanks for the visit.
Terrie @ Bookshelf Journeys
Thanks Terrie. I think the reason I have so many freebies is I read so many genres. I do get 5 or 6 emails a day of deals which I peruse. Some days I don’t take anything. I have gotten more picky.
There are too many bugs in this post, lol. I had a big spider in my bed a few nights ago and almost lost it. Good luck with the squash! I love seeing the dogs together.
Thanks Tammy. Well thank goodness they were not in my bed – that would really freak me out. Another reason I shower after a lot of outdoor work. It’s so fun having all the dogs and they love walking.
Sorry about the bugs on the squash! What a bummer! Hopefully this week is cooler for you. We were in the upper 70’s to low 80’s this past week and it was blissful!
Thanks Samantha. I’d love to have that weather. We may get around 80 in a couple days. I still have about half the dirt to move.
We had a hot/humid week for us as well. Some schools closed in the afternoons because most schools don’t have air conditioning. I turned our home unit on but it only cools off the first floor, so I was pretty warm went working upstairs. I volunteered most of Friday and Saturday at a local festival. Our volunteer proceeds go to the high school. I’m catching up on house work and blogging before football later today.
I’m surprised how much outside stuff I was able to fit in with the hot weather but some days the humidity wasn’t so bad. I really look forward to the cooler temps this week. I hope to see you this afternoon, hopefully that is before football? or after?
Congrats on losing weight Anne! Also we have a heat wave here and I too must walk the dog before it’s too hot!
Thanks Sophie. I still have a ways to go but it seems to be going in the right direction. I have come to love walking the dogs.
Longmire was fun. I don’t think I ever finished it but I’ve been watching Dark Winds and Zach McLarnon is in it- he was on Longmire also. And I love it when it cools off.
Hope your weekend is going well.
Thank you Greg. We are enjoying Longmire but it is very different than the books. Bits of plots from the books all messed up to make the show. And it’s a bit more sexy, not as rough wilderness as the book.
Another busy week! I loved the Longmire series and have seen it all. I agree with Greg, you should try Dark Winds. I read 2 Longmire books but found them kind of slow. Hope you all have a great week.
Thanks Barb. I’ll think about Dark Winds. I don’t watch much tv. I think the Longmire books are a bit slow with a very different plots than the tv series. Of course, the tv is more flashy.
Congrats on getting back into that smaller size! I have lost some weight, and pants are feeling looser, but when I try on clothes at the store they don’t fit any different, so yeah. I’m tired of bugs, but more the mosquitos here for me. Our weather has been a bit cooler, but not a lot. This week should be better I hear though. Hope you have a good week!
Thank you Lisa. I hoe we get the cooler weather predicted for this week. Sometimes it changes if it is more than 5 days out. I don’t know that I’ve lost much weight possibly just redistributed it a bit. lol
I hate wasps and spiders so I can sympathize Anne! Enjoy your new books and the week ahead!
Well I don’t hate them but I’d rather they were outside. Thank you Jodie!
90s and 66% humidity here in L.A. Do not like. lol
What a cute little spaghetti squash!
Grilled kabobs with veggies from the garden!!!!!! Wow. I’m drooling.
I’m so glad Marley gets to be included on walks and for TV time!
OMG a wasp and a spider on you. Takes me back to my Arkansas days. {shudder}
Congrats on being in the smaller size pants! That’s always exciting and that is how I measure how I’m doing with my own self. I was reading an old journal…2012…and am amazed at how quickly I went from size 12 to 10 to 8. When it’s cool enough to start walking again, I will be starting from a size 16. lol Gained a lot of weight sitting on my butt in Arkansas.
Have a great week!
Thanks Jinjer. I don’t think I lost weight really, just started redistributing it. I’m in my size 10 stuff. That 90 with 66% humidity is what we have today and tomorrow before the temp drops. Marley is such a sweetheart. I thought she was just young and high energy but she’s really a cuddler.
It sounds like a promising sign for your squash! Despite rain this morning, it turned out to be quite warm today, well into the 90’s. I am glad we got the morning rain though. My daughter’s friend’s parents said they went hiking today (their daughter stayed with us) in the mountains today and they got soaked with rain. Whatever storm that hit us in the morning must have headed for the higher elevations right after. Your new books all look good! My daughter and I are looking forward to reading the new Schwab book when it comes out. I hope you have a great week, Anne!
Thank you Wendy. We are still around 90 but hopefully will cool down in a couple days. We aren’t getting as much rain as projected. This has been a tough year for the garden in some respects. I’m ever hopeful and perhaps the fall garden will do better.
It was hot here this past week too. So hot. I am looking forward to it cooling down after all these storms blow through. I love the photo of all the dogs walking together!
Thank you. We really had fun adding Marley to the usual walking. With her family gone though, we tried to do more with her throughout the day/evening.
I am so over bugs. Lol. After Wyatt had his mega bite in July it’s like I am done with them all. My poor garden went feral this year, I need to go clean it up. This week is supposed to be cooler so I need to make myself get out there and take care of business!!
We love Longmire – such a great show!
Thanks Erin. I can’t say I’ve ever been for bugs, like always over them. We haven’t really cooled yet but hopefully by the end of the week. My daughter loved Longmire until last night when we started Season 3 and too many bad things were happening which stressed her out.
Ugh, sorry to hear the heat and humidity is still bad there, too. Glad cooler temps are coming. It’s supposed to be in the mid80’s here by Friday and I can’t wait. A spider in the hair sounds like something out of a horror movie. lol
Well it’s gone from near 100 to about 90, but in a couple of days it may reach get down to around 80. I’m looking to that for my next lawn mowing and continued dirt moving. There’s the lawn fertilizing to do soon also.
It’s weird that while I was doing a garage sale with my friend a few blocks over, we had trouble with yellow jackets and her son got stung while here at my place, its a mosquito infestation that hangs out mostly in my beans and cucumbers (I blame my neighbor’s green pool water, LOL). So glad you could get in some good walks with your gal dog group and, way to go shoveling all that dirt into the beds. I’ve watched several Longmire episodes and loved them and that had me trying out the series. I’ve listened to three or four of them out of order, but still enjoyed them.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia! We are slightly cooler with a bit to go. Later in the week should be nice. I have more yard stuff to do. The bugs haven’t really been too bad this year. I just don’t like it when they try to come in the house. We started Season 3 Longmire and my daughter is freaked out by bad things happening and she’s done. The books have some of the same characters and themes but really are very different.
Yay for the new squash and boo to the bugs. Hope you have a great week.
Thank you. It’s been an odd garden year. I’m hoping the fall garden will do well.
Yay for being back in pre-injury clothes. That’s such a great feeling! Sounds like the canine girl gang is getting along well. I loved the first few seasons of Longmire but stopped watching it at some point. I hope you have a great week!
Thanks Katherine. I love the girl pack. They were really so happy to be out walking and well-behaved. We just started Longmire Season 3 and some bad things happened which stressed out my daughter so she’s done. They are very different than the books. Some of the characters and all of the plots, although some themes are similar.
I’ve never tried to grow squash so I don’t think I’ve ever seen squash bugs before.
They are hiding well but still killing all the squash so far.
ALL THE PUPPERS
I know! I was so excited to have the whole pack and getting along well.
I’m glad it’s finally cooling down a bit – those temperatures sound miserable if you have to spend any time outside. And congratulations on getting back to the size you were before your hip injury. I’m so looking forward to getting well enough to be able to exercise again – I have a wardrobe full of clothes I currently can’t get into. I was folding a blanket for Ethan yesterday when a spider nearly the size of my palm skittered across my hand. Luckily it stayed on the blanket until we got it outside and I was able to flick it off. I’m not frightened of spiders and only very, very few bite in the UK so I generally handle them. But even I wasn’t keen on enclosing this one in my hands to ferry to an open window:)). And I’m SO jealous you have a copy of Richard Osman’s latest book! I hope this week is turning out to be a good one, Anne.
Thank you Sarah. The final cool down has been amazing. It will be nice now for months. I’m glad to be able to do things and wear things again but I still need to drop some pounds. I’ve already finished the Osman book and I love them. This week was productive.
