The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Sunday,  more beautiful weather.  I visited blogs, tried to plan some things ahead.  We were watching Marley for the afternoon.  So at 4pm,  I walked her and Lulu on a medium route.  Marley is a big sniffer, worse than Lulu.  Then they were in the fenced in backyard with me while I harvested the rest of the carrots for dinner.  Lulu was hesitant but once Marley grabbed a stick they were chasing each other around like mad, back and forth.  They had a good time.  I delayed dinner a bit to get some posts edited and scheduled. There’s just so much to do and after dinner isn’t the best time to do it.

Monday,  I took my time in the morning of a busy day.  The weather is again lovely. My daughter figured out she has had a headache since September 20th and apparently the usual meds just aren’t working so I called for an appt.  We were able to get in tomorrow.  I did some computer stuff.  I researched and studied the planting information on my plant orders which arrived.  I got everything together then took Lulu for her walk.  Afterword,  I planted the rhubarb, the asparagus and the After Eight Oriental lilies.  I pulled a few weeds, put the last of the compost soil in where the carrots had been and the asparagus is now planted. I put the last of the rolling compost container into the herb bed. Then I dug up and loosened the dirt in the area for the oriental lilies and put in some edging stones and the lily bulbs. We got a picture of Lulu looking out the window when I was showing my daughter the lilies.

Tuesday,  I needed to get going quickly. After the dog walk, we went straight to a neurology appt for my daughter’s headache.  She got a rescue injection.  She’s only ever had 2 and the last one was in 2019. On the way home, we picked up all her usual refills at Harris Teeter. The injections made her loopy so she took a nap.

Wednesday, my dad would have been 110 today.  He was in the Navy in both WW2 and the Korean War. I miss him. He ran a chain of movie theaters until the 1950s (before I was born) then went into business with a cousin to manufacture concrete pipe machinery becoming one of the top 5 worldwide providers with plants in Iowa, Ontario Canada and the Netherlands.   He was already retiring when I was starting high school.

I did the walking because in addition to her continuing migraine, she twisted her ankle.  Then we picked up an additional RX at Harris Teeter. I dropped her at the chiropractor and picked up a couple items at Aldi.  After dinner, I fell asleep early, like before 9pm.

Thursday, I had a good, long sleep. My daughter is still struggling, so I walked our girls.  I found a few things in the Audible 2-1 credit sale.  I realized that the Audible player is my least favorite.  If I can get the same things on sale at Chirp, I love their player app.  Finally, I have an afternoon at home to get some of my posts ready.

Friday, another day where I need to pack things in.  I am gathering things for the garage sale tomorrow but all my items will be free.  I did a Walmart pickup and got a couple of other items at Food Lion.   I finished the audio I wanted to review for tomorrow and wrote my review. I called the doctor to get more input on my daughter still not finding any relief.  Then I didn’t want to go do a bunch of things and take any chance to miss his call. He ended up sending an email at the end of the day.  I had a batch of food to make for Lulu, and I made our dinner and a big batch of cookies.  I organized a few things to give away at the yard sale but since it’s supposed to rain in the morning I’ll wait to put them out.

Saturday,  I got up early and put out the free items.  I went to cut herbs and put them in labeled bags. Marley came over to play but Lulu wasn’t feeling it and kept going in the garden.  She never does that. So then her feet were all dirty. When I came to put the herbs out, half the stuff was gone already.  I did some of my blogging but my daughter got up because she wanted to go over to the vendor part at the pool.  Our next door neighbors, Marley’s moms, run a food truck called Blend of Soul with fresh juices, smoothies, acai bowls..  I got some juice and she got a smoothie and an acai bowl.  We ate them while we drove around to see who else had garage sales.  It wasn’t really very many, about 8, but we were at the end of it.  My daughter said she felt a little better but she went back to bed until dinnertime. I did more post edit and scheduling. I took Lulu for a walk and it was windy.  I made soup and homemade french bread for dinner.

This afternoon is the Facebook Chat for Staked for the Read-along.

Have a nice holiday if you have tomorrow off!

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My sincere thanks to Brilliance Audio,  and Penguin Audio (2),

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I chose my two Amazon First reads for this month. I think the extra is because of Prime Day deals.

I bought these at the Audible 2-1 credit sale which continues through Monday.  I already have the first in the series and it’s two of my favorite narrators – Luke Daniels, Therese Plummer.  The ebooks are in KindleUnlimited.

I also got these at the 2-1 sale. I try to purchase books which are not available at the library.

Then 3 audiobooks on my wish list for a while went on sale at Chirp.  I have collected the older Joan Hickson narration for the Miss Marple series.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. I’m so sorry your daughter has been feeling so ill – ongoing headaches are the very worst! I hope she feels better very soon. I notice that you picked up Jodi Taylor’s book – a spinoff of the St Mary’s series – I love these books, so I hope you enjoy this one:)). Have a good week, Anne.

  2. Darling Lulu💜

Love your book haul! I’m listening to One Last Kill right now and it’s great. Thanks for the heads up about the new Gerritsen book, which I’m adding. Oh! And I see you took advantage of the Marie Force audio offer (so did I).

    Have a great week, Anne!

  3. Sounds like Lulu had a fun week! Sorry your daughter isn’t feeling well. I hope that the injection helps with the headache. I love the idea of a “free” garage sale. They do this items for free things on the local neighborhood site and you can put stuff out for people who want it. My mom does it a lot. I have a few big things I’d like to do that with and just keep putting it off. Hope you have a good week!

  4. I love that your weather allowed you out in the garden to work on your new fall plantings and composting as well as some good walks with the dogs. Hopefully, something will break for your daughter with her headaches. I stacked up quite a few Agatha Christies from Chirp this past week. I like the old Joan Hickson ones, too.

    Have a fab week, Anne!

  5. Wow your dad did some neat things. Thatgeneration was amazing, I always say. I hope your daughter feels better and the doctors are able to help with that headache.

    Garage sales are fun.

I hope Chaos Terminal is good. I read the first one, didn’t love it but I DID love her Six Wakes.

    • Thank you Greg. My dad is my hero. He traveled all over the world even visited Iraq on business. I’d like to be more traveled than I am. Anyway, he had patents and headed the manufacturing. He could figure things out, especially anything electrical. He was an aviation electrician in the Navy so he worked on airplanes systems in those early years, was on aircraft carriers in WW2. In the Korean War, he was on a new base being built in Florida and supervised the installation of all the electrical. That was about the time frame when he married my Mom. She was a teacher in a town where he had a movie theater. She taught the daughter of one of his best friends from WW2. But they didn’t have kids until they’d been married for 8 years. So they were “old” parents, more the age of my friend’s grandparents.

      • My grandfather was like that for me. I felt like he could do anything. He built several homes and was just an amazing role model to me. That is s oneat abut your dad. Sounds like an amazing man.

  6. Look at Lulu looking out the window. Too cute for words. Hope your daughter continues to feel better. Sounds miserable having a headache that long. I can’t wait to get Blood Sisters. I’ve seen some good reviews. Your father sounds like a very interesting man. My grandfather was a WWII vet as well. Hope ypu have a great week.

  7. Sorry to hear your daughter is still not feeling well. Hope she gets some answers and relief!

I had fun on our chat even with my technical difficulties. Found out there was something covering my camera. Something that slides over to cover it. All I had to do was slide it over. *sigh* It’s a new computer (since July) so I haven’t figuring everything out yet. I just finished Staked and I have to say, it left me a bit sad. Things are not quite right with all the relationships, something I knew was coming, but still.

  8. So sorry to hear your daughter has been suffering. I wish they could find a root cause instead of just treating symptoms. 🙁 Nice to learn about your dad. My dad would have turned 84 last week. It’s been 5 years without him now. Your soup and homemade bread sounds divine. I am so intimidated by bread-making.

    • Thank you Tanya. I am also intimidated by bread-making. This recipe seems pretty foolproof and also gluten-free. With everything with my daughter, yes, I wish they could treat the cause and not just symptoms. They have one more treatment to try this week otherwise she may have to be hospitalized. My dad was called up in the Korean war and stationed to help build the new base in — Jacksonville. He was the head of one shift supervising all the electrical work. There were 3 shifts. He married my mom at that time and lived there 4 years. It was 8 years before they had children.

  9. Sounds like a busy week for you! I’m glad the garden is doing well, but I’m sorry your daughter hasn’t been feeling well. I hope she gets some relief from the latest round of meds. Lulu is adorable, as always! I picked up the Tess Gerritson book this week, too. I have never read her before, but it sounded fun. My other pick was the middle-grade novel.

Also, sorry I missed the Staked chat. I had a weird September, reading-wise, and I got too far behind to catch up in the time I had available. (I’m still in the middle of Shattered.) But I’ll try to catch up by the next chat.

  10. We never get over the loss of a parent. I lost my father 12 years ago and still miss him and think of him often. It’s been on my mind even more lately with the loss of my father-in-law the week before last.

I hope your daughter is able to find some relief. Sending positive thoughts her way.

I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week, Anne!

  11. I hope your daughter feels better. Twisted ankles and migraines are no fun. It sounds like Lulu had a good time with Marley half the time! I hope you have a wonderful week!

  12. Dang! I’m sorry your daughter is having such a rough time.

Drooling at the thought of asparagus and rhubarb straight out of one’s own garden! Asparagus and brussels sprouts are my favorite veggies.

  13. OMG! I just commented on LAST SUNDAY’s post – thinking it was this one. I am REALLY behind on my blog visits and returning comments on my own blog. I’ve read one book in the past month (and listened to a couple more). I’m all out of sorts! Hope the rest of this week is a good one!
