Princess Lenushka of Norveshka prides herself on her courage. She’s faced down the doubters who think a woman dragon shifter is worth less than a man. She will marry to secure the support of her nobles—and ensure she’ll hold the Norveshki throne. A battle-hardened soldier, she’s prepared to destroy the Brotherhood of the Sun, who threaten all Aerthlan. But she can barely look at Bran Morris, the Raven. His dark, brooding beauty is off-limits for a princess who must wed for advantage. And he has far too many secrets of his own for Lennie to trust him with hers.
Bran’s quest is for vengeance, against the Brotherhood monsters who killed his brother and abused his sisters. He can’t dream about the sharp-eyed woman warrior whose memory haunts him, not even when she appears to rescue him from an unknown dragon shifter. But when Lennie and Bran discover they’re Aerthlan’s last defense against a powerful, murderous mastermind, they can no longer afford to deceive each other—or themselves. And when a dragon’s passion is freed, anything is possible . . .
Now we are in the next generation with the children of the original characters of the Embraced series. It’s fun to see the parents who were the original folks I knew and loved, and now the trials and life decisions of their children as they find their places in life. I thought I wasn’t in the mood for this genre and as soon as I started reading I was loving it.
Now, after many years of peace and prosperity, there is a new threat, the remnants of the Circle of Five, calling themselves the Brotherhood. Many of the young adults were taken as young children or born to mothers taken into the Circle of Five. They have been abused for years and are just starting to find their way. But if they don’t do a mission for the Brotherhood, its leaders murder them.
Bran, along with his younger brother Zane, are after the leader Greer, who killed their brother Arlo. It runs them up against dragons, Lennie and her brother, Pendras. who are also after them as they have captured a prince. Lennie thinks Bran is a criminal then learns he is not. They end up going after their brothers, who have been kidnapped by Greer.
Bran and Lennie each have plenty of secrets which gradually unfold as they get to know each other. But Lennie is the heir and expected to marry a dragon. So even if they are attracted how can it go anywhere? Besides, they need to focus on the rescue. I enjoyed the action and smart strategy of the rescue.
Other friends and family are also on the rescue team with multiple romances brewing. The banter and humor was great. It’s also inspiring to see characters who really care about others.

This is another author I’d like to try. I enjoy paranormal romances. Maybe start at the beginning?
yes this is one of the paranormal romances I most enjoy. It’s a different blend with some good humor and romance. But there is definitely strategy and mystery. I would start at the beginning, which is with the first generation and How to Tame a Beast in 7 Days. It’s really fun. It looks like there is audio with even the same narrator even though the first ones were traditionally published and the rest not. I’ve only read the ebooks.
I do believe I would enjoy this series, as I love this genre. Great review, Anne.
Thank you Nadene. It’s a great series. I’m not always a fan of PNR but these are just really fun.
I need more dragons in my life
I enjoy dragon series and there are a lot of them. They are all either PNR or fantasy pretty much, so there may be romance or not.
For some reason I just don’t enjoy shifter stories that much. But this is an author I think I’ve seen around. Great review, glad you liked it!
This one is really fun, lots of talents besides shifting and most of all the humor.
