The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Tonight ends the giveaway to end the full set of 5 audiobooks of White Trash Zombie for the 2024 Read-along.

Sunday,  I woke to a mostly rainy day in Columbia SC.  We did go over to the zoo for a couple hours. It rained a bit but not hard.  We enjoyed many animals who didn’t mind the rain.  We tried a popular local Mexican place to get takeout for dinner.  They had chicken pesto tacos which was different and they were really good.

Monday,  we got up, packed up and headed home. Then there was unpacking, loads of laundry and setting up my backup computer because my regular computer screen died on the trip.  It took a bit of time to get things restored from my backup of the regular computer to the backup one.

Tuesday,  I walked the dogs and tried to get on track with emails, posts and other chores.  My progress felt slow.

Wednesday, I walked Abby and Lulu and my daughter walked Kayla. I set up more posts and checked entries on the rafflecopters to award prizes.  In late afternoon was an extra time of letting Abby and Kayla outside. After dinner, I did get my computer packed up to send for repair since the packing materials arrived today. I also gathered up the Amazon returns.  I checked what we have to try to put together a menu plan and shopping list.

Thursday,  I got responses from winners and prepared prizes for mailing. I walked the dogs and it was chilly but I had layers which kept me comfortable.  We went to the chiro / massage. I also dropped off my computer and the Amazon returns at UPS, the prize at the post office and picked up a couple items at Aldi.  I finally wrote a few reviews.   I went through the offerings of the Audible 2-1 sale and managed to pick 2.

Friday, I tried to work diligently on things but just seemed tired.  Hopefully my efforts at going through emails and things will help me do more tomorrow. Apparently my computer is repaired and shipped and should arrive Monday. My foot was hurting again, which hasn’t in a few weeks, so I was glad not to walk. I did finish up the post for 2023 Read-along tomorrow and start on some of the 2024 posts.

Saturday,   I went to bed early last night and woke early but managed to doze and then finish my book. I set up my new sprout machine and hope it works better than the jars I tried.   The weather is one of the better days, around 60F/ 16C.  The chard and broccoli are still doing fine even with the nights around freezing.  I’m surprised the snow peas are even still growing but not flowering.  And there is an SDB iris blooming.  I finally got some of my reviews written. Lulu and I took a medium walk but we didn’t see the swans. My repaired computer which was supposed to come Monday has been delivered!   Tomorrow we are supposed to have heavy rain and possible power outages.

Check out #MyYearInBooks @goodreads to discover the 308 books I read in 2023!

(But there will be at least 5-10 more yet)

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My sincere thanks to Berkley(2),  William Morrow,  Harper Audio,  Simon & Schuster Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I purchased these 2 for 1 credit in the Audible 2-1 sale.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. You seem to keep having so many computer issues! That sucks for how much we do on our computers. I haven’t been to our zoo in a few years. It sucks because I used to have a friends of the zoo membership. Maybe this year I’ll get out there. Love the picture of Lulu sleeping. I always want to take pictures of my dogs sleeping, they are always so cute then! Hope you have a good week and get some rest like you need!

  2. Glad you got your computer back. I was biting my nails yesterday when I thought that the screen of my newest Chromebook was going to follow the lead of my old Chromebook and refuse to come on. I forced myself to walk away from it for 30 minutes while it charged and luckily it came right back on. I had never let the battery run fully out before and will never do so again.

    Sprouts machine sounds interesting!

  3. I always have mixed feelings with zoo as I don’t like seeing animals in captivity but often, it’s the only way to save some endangered species!

  4. Even though it was raining, the zoo animals are adorable and I’m glad you had a fun getaway. Way to go getting on top of your shipping out and already getting your repaired computer back. That’s a very hardy sweet pea you’ve got facing off against the frost. 🙂
    I got Cheater, too.
Hopefully, you’ll keep the power on through this storm.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  5. Okay, this pic of darling Lulu is in my top 5 favorites💜

Thanks for the heads up on the new Karen Rose book! My goal is to catch up in 2024. I just finished the Lucinda Berry book and…wow! New author to pursue. FYI, she has an Audible original novella that’s current free.

    Have a great week!

  6. Sounds like you had a nice trip despite some rain. Love the pictures. It’s nice to be home even though there’s usually a bit of work to settle back in. Like laundry!

Hope your foot feels better! Bummer about your computer. I hate having computer issues. I just requested The Bright Spot at my library. I love Jill Shalvis. And I requested that Karen Rose on Netgalley. We’ll see.

  7. Oh I do love a good zoo! Great pictures! I saw your questions about the pandas at the Memphis Zoo on my comment. I do believe they have left in the last few months but I did love going to visit them when we were living there. I hope you’re having a wonderful week!

  8. It’s always good to be back home and getting back into the regular routine. Sounds like your computer was repaired really quickly! We had a nor’easter come through over the weekend and got an insane amount of rain dumped on us. and the wind was intense. No damage, though, so that was good. Hope you fared just as well.

  9. Love the photos from the zoo, thanks for sharing. It’s been years since I’ve been to a proper zoo.

Last week was pretty good. I’ve started some medication that will take a while to work, but hopefully will help. I went to a fancy luncheon with work – our Board of Directors does an annual holiday lunch and invites the staff. We mingle and share some of what we worked on the past year. I picked up my son from school on Monday and we head to my sister’s this weekend. Yea! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season.

  10. We had a good time when we visited the Riverside Zoo in Columbia a couple of years ago. It was a cool, drizzly day when I visited too but I’d rather that than the unbearable heat and humidity they’re known for. Whenever we visit a SC beach and pass through Columbia on our way back to Asheville, we just watch our car thermometer climb and climb and climb as we get closer to Columbia, then it starts to drop all the way home. I don’t know how locals stand it. Enjoy your week and happy holidays!
