Justice-Psy Eleri Dias knows the end is near for her, her mind one step away from fatal psychic exposure. In the short time that remains, she is determined to atone for an act of omission that has haunted her for a long, cruel decade. But that decision not only means facing a powerful changeling wing leader, but also putting herself in the path of a serial killer.
Falcon wing leader Adam Garrett is fiercely protective of his family and his clan. After losing his parents as a teenager in a shocking act of malice, Adam has no forgiveness in him for the J-Psy who betrayed him, betrayed them, at the most painful moment of his life. But the evil that stalks his territory will allow him no respite, forcing him once more into contact with the J he has never been able to forget.
Everything that could've been between Eleri and Adam was lost years ago, a shimmering promise crushed. As they work to uncover a monster, the moment of reckoning looms ever closer. Soon, there may be no more time left for either atonement . . . or love . . .
The Psy-Changeling Trinity is the spin off series to Psy-Changeling. Overall, it is like one big series. I didn’t and wouldn’t read the later books without the foundation of the first series. Singh has a style which is a great blend of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. Each book has a romantic couple and we get great development of those two characters as well as their family and friends. There is also an overall story arc, the urban fantasy part of her style, which carries on throughout the series.
I really enjoyed Atonement Sky!  I always enjoy Psy characters and Changelings. We have Eleri who is a J Psy hunting down serial killers. She has deduced the killer must be based in Raintree, Arizona.  It is the heart of the Windhaven falcon clan. She has some history with Adam the Wing leader.
Eleri has been reconditioned too many times, and seen too many horrible thoughts in criminals minds; she is numb to survive. Her own mind is losing all its shields and breaking. But she is attracted to Adam.  Adam has known Eleri would be his, since they met when they were both young, at the trial of the man who killed both of his parents, ten years ago.
Now in his territory, Adam helps Eleri with her investigation. They spend time together and become closer. Adam’s best friend and second, Jacques, is shot mid shift. It looks dire even with E Psy coming to help reach him, including Sasha Duncan. Eleri takes a turn at trying to reach him because of her connection with Adam. It drains her and she starts to deteriorate faster. Adam tries to mate with her but her mind won’t allow it.
Just as she is going to leave her information for the rest of her team and commit suicide, Mali, Adam’s niece is abducted by the killer.  It’s all hands on deck to search for her. As Eleri is viewing camera footage, she gets a call with instructions to do as she is told or Mali will die. Eleri does and is abducted herself, and drugged. Even when things are horrible, both Adam and Eleri are compassionate for others and try to help them.
The search gets more tense to find them both. When they do, Eleri is in bad shape having lost all her shields to being drugged. Now they must find a way to shield her mind once she awakens or the overwhelming sound of all the other minds will kill her or make her insane.
I loved the mystery and investigation for the serial killer. I loved the changeling community and its family and support for all of them. I loved the science of how the Psy and Changeling skills work and the ways to heal and support them.  I appreciated some updates on the overall world and characters I know and love.
As usual, Nalini Singh gives us great diversity and characters. She inspires hope and dreams when things seem the most dire. All of this provides an emotional journey; I cried seeing how hard everyone worked and what they were able to achieve.  I am always ready to read more in this world.
Narration:
I have listened to all the books in the Psy Changeling Trinity and the previous series.. I am so pleased with Angela Dawe.  I love the voices she has for different characters and how the emotional tones are fitting for the species as well. She really nails the narration and the performance really enhances my enjoyment of the series. I was able to listen at my newer 1.75x speed.

Eeep. I need to keep digging at this series. I took a small break because the last couple were just okay for me.
I think they are all fabulous in their own diverse ways. This one was better than the last few though.
This is one of my favorites in the series! I was thrilled at the progress they made with the shield situation too!
You’re preaching to the choir – I love this series!
As someone who stumbled upon trinity before psy-changling, I can tell you it isn’t a problem. The main couple is the focus, and they’re often new or formerly background. The general world seems to be in massive upheaval in every book and the immediate crisis is usually resolved by the romantic couple, and she very good at sliding in enough of the history for context without getting boring.
Thanks for that input Kate. It probably only would bother the OCD like me who want to read in order. I enjoy the deeper connection to the characters because I already know them, like Sasha Duncan in this book or Sophie Russo the J Psy and her husband Max. The early books are so good you should try them sometime. I already did a read-along for them though.
I really loved this one – first P-C book in a long time that I’ve devoured like this. The bird shifts are such an interesting concept and I love how Singh portrays them.
yes this is a real favorite and more so than some of the other recent years. Although I have enjoyed every book in the series.
I’ve had this author on my TBR for ages and I’ve been reading more of this style of story. I need to try this series.
I really love this series and the foundation series which is where I would start. I did the Psy-Changeling series as our Read-along in 2021 and we had great participation. Each book is a paranormal romance. But the series is urban fantasy with some long-term story arcs.
I don’t know if my stepmom reads these, but they sound like ones she would love, so I need to make sure she does. Great review!
These are amazing and there are a lot of them. Each book is a paranormal romance. The overall story arc and changes in society / politics is urban fantasy. I think you would enjoy these. I already did a read-along of the first series in 2021.
