Love burns white-hot in this first scorching romance in an all-new trilogy about a family of firefighters from the New York Times bestselling author of the Play-by-Play novels and the Hope series.

Firefighter Jackson Donovan doesn't look back--as a rule. So when his past comes roaring back to life in the form of not-so-damsel-in-distress Becks Benning, the last thing he wants to do is relive old times. No matter how tempting she makes it seem...

Now thanks to his two interfering brothers, Becks is living with them while she looks for a new place and tries to pick up the pieces of her tattoo business that went up in flames. Which means a grown up, smokin' hot Becks is in his house, sharing meals, and digging up old wounds. And despite his better judgement, the more time he spends with this smart, artistic, incredible woman the more he wants her in his bed--and his future.

Becks always had it bad for Jackson. Unfortunately for her, not much has changed--he's still honorable, hard-working, sexy as sin--and closed off. But there's more than one way to get to a man's heart and if Jackson doesn't want to recall old memories, she'll just have to help him make new ones. Because now that she's found Jackson again, she's not letting him go

The Brotherhood by Fire is well named as a series about “brothers” who are firefighters.  I love series where the characters in each book are siblings and I love firefighter romances.  I have read and enjoyed Jaci Burton in the past.

Hot to the Touch is a fun and fast read.  The firefighter aspects were mostly secondary to the romance and character development of the main couple.  As the first book in the series,  there is some world building and history on the main characters.  The topic of homeless children is part of their histories.

I guess I would call this a friends to lovers romance but it is more like an acquaintances to fuck buddies to lovers progression. Both Jackson and Becks are attracted immediately and nether is initially looking for a long-term commitment. But as they get to know each other, neither is sure of the other’s feelings.  It isn’t like they are dishonest with each other (any more than they are with themselves). Things just change as time passes and they know more of each other.

As one might expect, sexy times are hot and sizzling. Both Jackson and Becks are giving lovers. I expect to read on in this hot series!

About Jaci Burton

Jaci Burton is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling, award-winning author of over 50 books. She lives in Oklahoma and when she isn’t on deadline (which is often), she can usually be found wrestling with her uncooperative garden, wrangling her dogs, watching an unhealthy amount of television, or completely losing track of time reading a great book. She’s a total romantic and longs for the happily ever after in every story, which you’ll find in all her books.

  1. Her books tend to be hit or miss for me, but when they hit, I love them. I am a sucker for a series about families and I love the firefighter setting so I’ll probably be picking this up.

    • It’s been awhile since I have read anything by this author but I thought I’d give this a try. I will probably go in this series.

    • I’ve read some of her Hope series. I will likely read on in this series. Contemporary romance (other than Penny Reid and Jill Shalvis and Kimberly Kincaid) is less of an auto read kind of thing. I’m sure I’m forgetting someone and I’ll be sorry as soon as I hit enter. I am becoming very attached to Christina Lauren. Now the romantic suspense genre has a bunch more auto-read authors.
