Homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite has returned to the police force after the sensational retrial of her sister’s killer. Still scarred from that ordeal, Tracy is pulled into an investigation that threatens to end her career, if not her life.
A serial killer known as the Cowboy is killing young women in cheap motels in North Seattle. Even after a stalker leaves a menacing message for Crosswhite, suggesting the killer or a copycat could be targeting her personally, she is charged with bringing the murderer to justice. With clues scarce and more victims dying, Tracy realizes the key to solving the murders may lie in a decade-old homicide investigation that others, including her captain, Johnny Nolasco, would prefer to keep buried. With the Cowboy on the hunt, can Tracy find the evidence to stop him, or will she become his next victim?

A short review to update challenges
I couldn’t wait to continue the Tracy Crosswhite series, which is happily available on audio through Kindle Unlimited. I loved My Sister’s Grave. Her Final Breath is just as exciting. I always enjoy mystery and police procedures and suspense. We also have a strong and capable women in Tracy.
Now we are back in Seattle with Tracy heading a serial killer task force. She worries about the women being killed but she also has to deal with her political donkey of a boss. He, along with his media contact, are trying to undermine her. Luckily, she is smart, knows how they are and has some real friends.
Unfortunately, attracting attention as a woman in authority brings other problems besides her boss. Is the Cowboy after her also? Tracy and her team, carefully gather the evidence to figure out who is the real killer and how long he has been killing.
There are also nice aspects about her personal life. She spends more time with her childhood friend, Dan O’Leary. He provides legal help, emotional support and more. Her team of co-workers is very supportive. It’s a great book. I’m glad there are more!
Narration:
I was really very happy to be able to get the audiobook version through Kindle Unlimited. Emily Sutton-Smith did a great job with all the voices. I was able to listen comfortably at 1.5x speed.

Thanks! I am loving this series so very much
I think I own My Sister’s Grave on Audio, and will get to these I am sure. Great review!
K, I am loving these. They are in the same genre as the Melinda Leigh books are but more law enforcement / mystery with less emphasis on romance.
Fantastic review, Anne! I have loved the couple Dugoni books I’ve read and have wanted to check out this series. You’ve made it sound so exciting!
Thank you. I am really loving them. Great world and character building, good details and believable.
