The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I started a book in the morning since I can’t seem to stay awake to read at night. I read the whole thing without moving. Then I did my Sunday visiting and wrote a review for Tuesday. Monday, my daughter had 2 medical appts. I made a quick stop to pick up a few items. I tried to work on computer stuff since I thought it would be hot. It wasn’t too bad outside though. It isn’t raining so I am spot watering. I finally got the quote from the second contractor 8 weeks later. Now I have to decide between them quickly. I reviewed the quotes and what is different in them. I put more pavers on the planters.
Tuesday, I felt kind of overwhelmed with everything I wanted to do. After my usual computer stuff, I spent quite a bit of time making a list of my fall plant purchases and their characteristics so I know where it is best to plant them. I made a list of the things I need to do this week, some big tasks, some small and it’s still a lot. I made mini cheesecakes and another batch of food for Lulu. Since we won’t have the stove I need to make ahead 6 weeks (6 batches) of her food. I started a new fantasy read and it was easy!
Wednesday, it’s cloudy but humid. I got going with the usual laundry, dishwasher, spot watering, emails, visiting blogs, and so forth which I don’t usually even mention. I also added tasks to the master list before completing anything on it. ARGH. I added my wish list plants to the purchases so I have a complete list to start a planting map. I went through by daughter’s RX to see what else might need refilling since the insurance approved the medication the specialist prescribed last week. The doctor and insurance co told me it was approved and I called the pharmacy to make sure they would fill it. The original contractor came over today to check things as it has been two months since the original quote she did. We had a good discussion and I signed the contract and gave her the down payment. The cabinets are supposed to arrive after Oct 4th and the demo of the old kitchen will be mid October. I finished my really long audiobook (35 hours)! The HOA finally sent an email approving the stain I chose. It’s a good 3 weeks since this started but now I have 30 days to stain the fence. I wrote reviews and created posts shells. Michelle @Limabean Designs has been doing some graphics like my new Library Card-Signup month headers, and the updates for the Top 10 of 2021 graphics.
Thursday, I slept all the way through the night which is happening much more often now. I also take a lot less ibuprofen. I did my spot watering. I worked for quite awhile on my garden plans. I called a local nursery which has more specialty plants to place an order which should be ready for pickup mid-October. My daughter had an appt with her psychiatrist about adjusting her medications based on her genetic test. It went well. I then talked to Home Depot, who talked to Kraftmaid and my cabinets will be delivered October 8th. I was going to do my errands today, but it looks like the weather will be better today for mowing than tomorrow, less humid today.
Friday, I started out for a quick couple errands. lol I picked up my Rx at HT, then to the nursery to get the plants I knew they had, and then it all went to heck. I went to pickup my daughter’s Rx and they couldn’t find them. So I went over to the dollar store for a couple items to give them more time. Then I went on to Aldi and got a few groceries. They didn’t have one special items for this week, which is a travel seat for a dog. But another store had one. I went back across the street and waited another 30 minutes, and the Walgreens said it was at another location 7.5 miles away. So I went to that Walgreens and waited again but I got the Rx. I drove to the other Aldi’s which fortunately was in the same direction and they had exactly what I wanted put aside for me. So 5 hours later I made it home. It even rained a bit. I relaxed a bit cleaning up emails and Feedly. Then I reviewed what was available for the Audible sale. I updated my challenges for mid-month. I did the spot watering and noticed the snow peas are already an inch high.
Saturday, I was tired enough to sleep a bit later and then read for awhile before I got up to face a big task list of chores. It is still warm today. I wanted to start packing and it’s not happening. My daughter has a paper due tomorrow for me to review. I’m making a batch of food for Lulu. I’m doing laundry and I really want to vacuum. I’m excited for the FB chat tomorrow on Heart of Obsidian. I’m really loving the books I’m reading so that’s a relief when I’m so busy.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Many thanks to PRH Audio.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I got each of these for $5 at an Audible sale.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few
at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

The kitchen demo’s coming up fast! How exciting. I guess you’re going to be eating take out for a while? ? Hope you have a good week, Anne.
It’s coming up almost too fast. I expected end of October. I STILL haven’t packed stuff. But we have been eating from the cupboards and not replacing things. It makes me a little nervous because during these weird COVID times, it is hard to get some things so I try to keep stocked.
I read Playing with Fire and Three Fates. Wonderful books. Lulu is such a cutie. LOVE her picture in this post. Have a great new week, Anne. Btw your new header looks great.
Thank you Vi! I’m glad to know you enjoyed my new purchases which are actually backlist books but ones I have not read.
I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep thanks to the neightbors tow truck and its back up beeps in the middle of the night. Hope you get even more beauty rest.
One thing I do to avoid that sort of issue is I run an air cleaner at night in my room. It’s white noise plus it helps mask any little odd sounds..
I really need to read something by Naomi Novik one of these days! Looks like a busy week for you. I spent my Saturday, yesterday, just sitting around reading, like your last Sunday, and it was a perfect day! I have go to start putting my dogs in their cage at night and sleeping alone so I can get a night of sleep with maybe just one time being woken up. Hope you have a good week!
I’ve read and enjoyed a lot of Naomi Novik. I haven’t disliked anything of hers I have read. I’m lucky Lulu is so good about whatever crazy schedule we do with her.
A new kitchen is so exciting even if that means some bother too! And you already got the audio of the Last Graduate? You are so lucky!
I am dreading all the eating takeout and the mess but I will be so happy to have a kitchen which works better for me.
I am so lucky and grateful to get most all of the ARCs I want to read.
Everything is really coming together! Likey likey!! I saw your comment about trying to whittle down the foodstuffs but are worried about stuff not being available because of Covid delays. It really is weird times, right? Can you store some things temporarily in another room? Just in case? When I stock up on things I put the overflow in the “cat room” which is a spare bedroom with no bed where we feed the cats and put all the stuff that has no other place to go. lol
Yes I can totally just store stuff in another room. I was just trying for less packing. And there is stuff in the back of the shelves which we forgot about and should eat soon anyway. Thanks for the suggestion. I have to sort the stuff as I pack it as to whether it can be prepared without the oven or dishwasher and eaten on paper plates and bowls. I foresee a bunch of takeout in our future but that is ok because we haven’t eaten out or spent money on much travel this year either. It’s more worrisome to get some vegetables other than salad.
I just love reading your Sunday posts.
Looks like you had such a productive week. I am happy to see so many good freebies you added in.
It was a pretty good week. I’ve got some big tasks on the list though. At least I am on track with my reading and not behind a week.
I’m so happy to read you haven’t needed to take more ibuprofen.
Those new books look wonderful!
Have a great week and happy reading.
Thank you Maureen. It was constant so I am happy to be back to closer to normal.
I’m so happy my kitchen remodel is almost done! I don’t envy you just starting yours, but the result is worth the hassle. Your house has such lovely curb appeal! White wood siding is a favorite of mine and I love your front entryway with the windows around the door and the molding over the top.
Thank you Rachel. If I can get this one more side, the front, planted with perennials and the kitchen done I hope to be set for at least a bit.
Had you running around this week, but glad you got all your pick ups taken care of and are on track for your big kitchen remodel. Still in the midst of our bathroom remodel with the kitchen up for it after a while. Tough sometimes not to get overwhelmed when you keep adding to the to-do list and very little comes off, but looks to me like you’re doing great whittling away at it.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thanks Sophia! I’ll feel better when I have more packing accomplished though.
So exciting to have the cabinets by October 8th! That will be here before you know it! Have a great week!
Exciting and terrifying. Now I have to get my act together.
It’s good to hear you are sleeping better. Unless you live in a conservation area/listed building in the UK (which doesn’t cover many places) you don’t need to get special permission for painting fences, houses etc. I’m always fascinated by how these kind of things differ from country to country.
I’ve been avoiding looking at free books because I already have close to 1000 of them. I’m still trying to work through the back log of purchased books, so the freebies are WAY down the list! Have a good week.
Well I get the freebies anyway because they fill in for things like Read-athons with specific themes and I read some for my Thrifty Thursday meme. Thank you for visiting Louise.
Best of luck with the Kitchen renovation! I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a Nora Roberts book! Happy Reading.
Now I just have to fit in reading the Nora Roberts books. I have collected quite a few on audio because they are not at the library much on audio.
I had gotten into the habit of reading before bed each night, but somehow that’s fallen by the wayside. I need to get back into the groove. I sleep so much better when I get a little reading in before I turn out the lights. I am glad you are able to take less ibuprofen. Good luck with the kitchen remodel! I hope it goes well. I hope you enjoy your new books! I am looking forward to one day reading The Last Graduate. I enjoyed the first book in the series. Have a great week!
Thank you. I have been falling asleep right away so I am trying to go to bed earlier so I can read a little. I did managed to finish my book even though I was still vacuuming at 11pm last night!
Whew! what a week. Hope this one is good. Enjoy the freebies 🙂
Thank you! It looks to be no slow weeks upcoming, only full speed ahead.
It sounds like you had busy week, I’ll bet the new kitchen will look great. There’s some nights I sleep like a rock then other nights I’m up at 3am and can’t get back to sleep after.
Enjoy your books this week!
Thank you, yes I was happy to get lots of things finished this week and hope to do more in the next two weeks.
How exciting to be getting a new kitchen! It’s one of those “maybe someday” things on my list. There are a lot of things we need to do before that. Enjoy Three Fates! And lucky you for snagging the next Naomi Novik book!
Kitchens are kind of my thing. I need them quite organized. I’m excited for after, during not so much. I love everything Naomi Novik I have read.
Your dog is so cute.
I’m sure you’ll be happy to have the kitchen done when it’s finally finished.
I got into a bad habit of started to read a book late at night and then staying up too late. I have to start books in the morning now.
Lulu is the very best! I can sometimes read at night but I have to be careful not to stay up if I have things happening the next day.
Great photos and books! Enjoy your week, and I hope you keep sleeping through the night.
You mentioned the old and vintage things you have collected over the years. I would love to see some photos!
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
Perhaps I will post some photos after this construction mess is over. My parents grew up during the depression so I learned to take care of my things and keep them.
It is going to be so exciting to get a new kitchen! I am excited for you and cannot wait to see how it goes. I have not kept up with my plants as well as I feel like I should but I think that I have talked my husband into spending a short period of time with me every day to try to get caught up. I hope that you have a great week and enjoy your new reads!
Thank you Carole! I do a little bit every day. Sadly things happen to sidetrack me. I can’t wait to have the flowers planted on all 4 sides with no more bed creation to do. I’ll be glad when the kitchen is complete. The process is likely to be a hassle.
I really need to go back to writing myself chore lists, I’ve been too slack recently and things are starting to pile up.
I’m looking forward to reading The Last Graduate too.
Wishing you a great reading week
Thank you Shellyrae. I have good days and bad on task completion but with the list it is harder to forget things totally. I try to write a new one at night when things are fresh in my head and that way I am less likely to ignore something important. I have so many great reads and I’m so excited for them all.
Sweet Lulu? Thanks for that.
I’m a bit envious of your kitchen remodeling, something I’ve wanted to do for a while but am too chicken. Yes, it will be disruptive for a bit but the long term joy will last so much longer. Best of luck with it!
Oh, I loved Three Fates! Terrific choice.
Have a wonderful week, Anne!
Thank you Jonetta! I always want my kitchen the way I want it. This is my 4th renovation. Oddly I don’t remember the previous ones taking really long or being a hassle but I am afraid of that now. I suppose it is partly Covid as it will be harder to run out for meals somewhere.
I am collecting the Nora Roberts books on audio that aren’t on audio at the library which is most of them.
I have to laugh because the first thing I thought of when I saw the fence pictures its that it’s still not stained. Glad they approved the color and hopefully the weather will cooperate. Good luck finishing that.
I can’t even recall what I did last week – It was a typical fall (in school and work) week!
yes the fence will get stained but the stain had to be ordered and it’s not here yet. This week it looks like we might get cooler weather in the 70s so I hope I can get some of these projects completed. It’s less humid today but still hot.
Oo exciting!!! I love a room redo, and a kitchen reno is the best! Lol. My friend just had her kitchen completely redone, total gut, and it looks fantastic!! Can’t wait to hear about yours.
I am intrigued about the medicine/genetics test. I am going to have to read about that.
Enjoy your week!
Yes it is exciting and overwhelming. I didn’t know anything about it but her new psychiatrist is really good. She needed a medicine review because doctors and specialists kept adding in meds but nobody really looked at all of them in combination very well. I brought that to a head and the psy suggested the genetics test, along with other modifications.
Busy busy! Glad to hear you’re getting more sleep. I could use more sleep too. Are you renovating your kitchen? You might be able to have your contractors set up a temporary kitchen in the garage or something. We did that and had a temporary kitchen in our basement.
Yes the kitchen reno will start in October. No basements in NC. I always had one in Iowa and Minnesota. The garage will be full of the cabinets and tools until it’s installed. No it will have to be kitchen on the patio with the grill which has a burner, but mostly the microwave and toaster over.
Renovations seem to take over your life while they’re being done but it so satisfying when they’re complete. So frustrating about the prescription but at least it put you near the other Aldi so that much worked out. Hooray for some better sleep!
Thank you Tanya! Yes I just have to keep at things. Once I figure it out, I just want it to be done. lol
