Four nights. Three days. The human son of two powerful vampires has been taken from his home, and if Carwyn and Brigid can’t find him, the delicate balance of power in an immortal haven might just go up in flames.
Las Vegas holds a special appeal in the immortal world. It’s a city of darkness, debauchery, and vice; a city where inhibitions are low and blood runs hot. Rose Di Marco and Agnes Wong have been running Sin City as immortal bosses for nearly a century, but when their son is kidnapped, they turn to their neighbors for help.
Carwyn and Brigid know how to find the lost, but what they don’t know is why Zasha Sokholov, a Siberian fire vampire and offshoot of an old crime family, became fixated on them. Carwyn has his suspicions, but all Brigid can think about is a fifteen-year-old boy who’s been taken as bait. She’ll need a clear head and the help of some unexpected allies to find him.
The main characters of this new Elemental Covenant series, Carwyn and Brigid, were the romance in the first book of the Elemental World series, Building from Ashes. Elemental World series is a spinoff from Elemental Mysteries series. So this new series is a spinoff of the spinoff.
I’m always happy to have a new read from Elizabeth Hunter but especially these mystery books with Carwyn and Brigid. Bishop’s Flight continues with the problems with Zasha Sokolov. Zasha is playing their games with people’s lives for amusement and to get to Brigid.
The setting is Las Vegas where the two vampire rulers, Rose and Agnes, have two adopted human children. The teen boy is kidnapped by Zasha with a deadline if the city is not turned over to them.
Brigid is frantic to find the boy and feels guilty for somehow capturing Zasha’s attention. She doesn’t know why they are fixated on her. She makes smart guesses and moves to find the boy before the deadline. But Zasha isn’t stupid. And doesn’t leave many witnesses to anything alive.
I really enjoyed this suspenseful story with mother-child bonds, vampire politics, a good investigation, and the lead in for the next book which will be a crossover with Elemental Legacy series with Ben and Tenzin combining with Brigid and Carwyn.

A spin off of a spin off sounds confusing, but I guess it isn’t if you’ve read all the books😁 I’m glad you enjoyed this!
yes, thanks Tammy. I hope at some point to go back and set these up in order for a Read-along. Elizabeth Hunter is such a talent.
“mother-child bonds, vampire politics, a good investigation” fun!
yes, even when things are dire there is enough of caring relationships and humor to make these books fun.
I like how she keeps to the world she made for subsequent series so there can be crossovers. The family element in a paranormal is also a great combo to me. I’ll get through more of her books at some point.
Thanks Sophia. I really enjoy her work. It’s a good candidate for a Read-along too.
This series sounds good and I love the cover. I had the chance to meet the author this past year in Florida. Now I just need to find time to read her books!
That’s great Jen. I love her books. I’ve read everything in all the genres almost. I think I should do a Read-along at some point. There’s so many series I want to do I could do several read-alongs a year though.
It always sounds a smart move to make series interconnected in some way and I know that Hunter is an established and successful author. I need to read her books – thank you for sharing:)).
Thank you Sarah. I do recommend her works. She has several series in different genres so you could pick what appeals most to you. I have enjoyed nearly all of them This spinoff is a favorite as is the paranormal romance – Cambio Springs series.
I like how all of these series are interconnected and I’m glad they continue to be an enjoyable read for you.
Thank you Suzanne. The author is fabulous and writes in many genres.
A spinoff of a spinoff? I like the sound of the story and the fantasy world it’s set in. At some point I’ll make time to read this author. Wonder if you need to go to the beginning to enjoy it?
Well the books are so good I would start at the beginning, also to understand a variety of characters who might come up even briefly. They are on audio but you are more likely to find them in ebook at your library. Or at least at my library. I think she publishes the audio herself. Anyway, you can’t go wrong with any of her books in any genre. I should do these as a Read-along some day. It’s harder to want a series I have already read though unless it came out awhile ago.
