I was thrilled to be able to review This Fallen Prey. I love this Rockton series so, so much. The writing and world-building are excellent. The characters are developed and fascinating. The setting seems wild and scary and yet beautiful. The townspeople need to work together in order to provide for their rustic lives. Casey is coming to enjoy this lifestyle.
The council has increased its frustrating role by dropping off a prisoner in Rockton. They continue to threaten and belittle Eric, which is ridiculous since he keeps their venture going with some safety. I want to smack Phil upside the head, or maybe just take him out and shoot him. I do not like the bossy, sort of thinks-he-knows-everything Phil. Phil was in for a shock coming to Rockton.
I like the addition of Storm, but I am weary of Casey putting herself in danger to protect others. Yes, she is more trained and skilled. She ends up being abducted a bit much. However, when she runs off blindly after Storm, with enemies all around, it felt a bit TSTL. Poor Storm did have a rude awakening and much to learn with the continuous difficulties.
I really enjoyed getting to know more about Jacob. I was so worried for him, but he has been independent for awhile, so he can handle himself. He is just not as familiar with guns as intruders are. But he and Eric know these woods better than almost anyone.
Therese Plummer continues to be most pleasing, handling the voices well. She gives them the style and feeling I now expect. I listen at x1.25 for a comfortable pace.
There were many surprising twists and turns and the ending left things in a shocking state (to me). So there is much I want to know. These are people I have come to love. I fear it is another year until there is more. Highly Recommended.

I read all types of books but my favorites are urban fantasy and romantic suspense.I like some romance and some action / adventure / mystery in everything.I like sex in my books but please, only between TWO people.Intimate conversation is equally important to the sex in a book.It lets me see the characters.The other thing I enjoy is humor.

Kelley Armstrong is one of the authors I really want to read a few more books by. I just need to find a good series of hers to just jump into
I think she is an excellent writer and where you “jump in” depends on your taste. This was perfect for me. I gravitate back to mystery / thriller when I’m tired of everything else. I never seem to tire of this genre. Of course, I like it to have a bit of humor and /or romance and this does.
I really love this series too. I’ve got this book to review and post soon on Rabid Reads. Great review.
