When love drives you crazy . . .

When sexy Joe Malone never calls after their explosive kiss, Kylie shoves him out of her mind. Until she needs a favor, and it’s a doozy. Something precious to her has been stolen and there’s only one person with unique finder-and-fixer skills that can help—Joe. It means swallowing her pride and somehow trying to avoid the temptation to throttle him—or seduce him.

the best thing to do . . .

No, Joe didn’t call after the kiss. He’s the fun time guy, not the forever guy. And Kylie, after all she’s been through, deserves a good man who will stay. But everything about Kylie makes it damned hard to focus, and though his brain knows what he has to do, his heart isn’t getting the memo.

… is enjoy the ride.

As Kylie and Joe go on the scavenger hunt of their lives, they discover surprising things about each other. Now, the best way for them to get over “that kiss” might just be to replace it with a hundred more.

A short review to update challenges

Everything Jill Shalvis writes is my favorite. The entire Heartbreaker Bay series is excellent.   About That Kiss had the sexy, the action  and definitely the humor.

Karen White was most enjoyable in this narration. I felt Kylie’s frustration at not being included and Joe’s total cluelessness as to having a relationship. She really does well with the male voices, better than one would expect.

Kylie was a little unexpected. I thought she could have been a bit more realistic about staying safe. Yes, she is smart and can take care of her self but there are some really bad people.  Joe really grew and transcended his badass, playboy loner life as he spent time with Kylie. I do think they could have managed to proceed with the investigation more logically and more quickly. Joe could have gotten more help from the team, even before the end, too.  Kylie and Joe had chemistry and experience with difficult families. I liked how the families were woven into the story.

It looks like we return to Heartbreaker Bay in September for a story with Joe’s sister, Molly. I can’t wait!

Giggle-worthy quote:

He turned and found his dad, indeed watching him in his wheelchair, in the doorway between the living room and kitchen, a shotgun across his legs, wearing only his underwear.  “Where are your pants?”

“I don’t like pants.”

“Well, no one does,” Joe said, passing him to head into the kitchen, “but we still have to wear them.”

  1. So glad you’re enjoying this series! I love it, too. Have you tried her new series that started with Lost and Found Sisters? There will be a novella and a full length coming out this summer in the Wildstone books.
