a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.

Quinn and Graham's perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking pause resister that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?

A short review to update challenges

Colleen Hoover writes emotional journeys. They are heart-wrenching. and touching deep inside, because there is love. All Your Perfects is a love story. Love isn’t perfect because people aren’t, especially people who stop communicating.

The story alternates between then and now to show us how things got from the start to where they are now. It’s wild, precious, sad, and loving. It’s easy to say people should communicate but hard to do. There can be fear of rejection or hurting the other person. But the communication which happens melts my heart.

Narration:

This was my first time with the narrator. I had to listen at 1.25x which used to be my normal but I’ve been using 1.5x lately. There is a quality in her voice which made me have to listen more slowly, more carefully. Most of the story was from Quinn’s point of view and either her talking or her stream of consciousness. Graham was the other primary character and the voice for him was good.

I can't really remember any time when I wasn't reading. I LOVE books and what they give me. It's an opportunity to learn new things, see new places, live different emotions in a "safe" way. It lets me live in a new world.

I read all types of books but my favorites are urban fantasy and romantic suspense.I like some romance and some action / adventure / mystery in everything.I like sex in my books but please, only between TWO people.Intimate conversation is equally important to the sex in a book.It lets me see the characters. The other thing I enjoy is humor.

    • I thought this was an interesting story that more people need to consider. The constant shift from past to present kept it lively, letting the emotions go up and down. It’s easy to get misconceptions and so far down the path you can’t communicate anymore.

  1. Lovely review, Anne. I have this one in paperback and now you and Jonetta have me considering the audio instead. I loved what you said about the shift to past and present allowing the emotions to go up and down. Happy you enjoyed the book.

I thought from the cover, the book would be a small town, feel good winter romance, but sounds like much more. Thanks for reviewing.
