1800s. San Antonio, Texas: In room 207 at the Longhorn Saloon, in the long shadow of the Alamo itself, a woman renowned for her beauty was brutally murdered. Her killer was never found. One year ago: In that same historic room, another woman vanished without a trace. Her blood was everywhere…but her body was never recovered. Now: In the last month, San Antonio has become a dumping ground for battered bodies. All young women, all long missing, almost all forgotten. Until now.
Texas Ranger Logan Raintree cannot sit by and let his city’s most vulnerable citizens be slain. So when he is approached to lead a brand-new group of elite paranormal investigators working the case, he has no choice but to accept the challenge. And with it, his powerful ability to commune with the dead. Among Logan’s new team is Kelsey O’Brien, a U.S. marshal known for her razor-sharp intuition and a toughness that belies her delicate exterior. Kelsey has been waiting all her life to work with someone who can understand her ability to “see” the past unfolding in the present. Now she has her chance.
Together, Kelsey and Logan follow their instincts to the Alamo and to the newly reopened Longhorn, which once tempted heroes with drink, cards and women. If the spirits of those long-dead Texans are really appearing to the victims before their deaths, only Kelsey and Logan have the skills to find out why. And if something more earthly is menacing the city’s oldest, darkest corners, only they can stop it – before more innocent women join the company of San Antonio’s restless ghosts….

A short review to update challenges
I was able to get Phantom Evil, the first book of this Krewe Of Hunters series from the Audible Romance package. Heart of Evil and Sacred Evil were available with audio through Kindle Unlimited. The Unseen is not in either program so I requested the CDs through Interlibrary Loan.
Luke Daniels’ narration is a total win. I’m sure the library hates me for all the requests which cost money but I only want these on audio. The setting is San Antonio with historic figures from the battle at the Alamo as the ghosts.
The original “krewe” is only in The Unseen very briefly. A new team is being set up to be based in Texas and this is their first case. The likely villains were somewhat clear from the beginning, but I enjoyed this very much. The romance was rushed but each book does develop a couple.
Narration:
Luke Daniels is the reason I will only do the series in audio format. He handles male and female voices and accents with expert talent. I am able to listen at 1.5x speed. He is fantastic!

Not my usual read. I have seen Heather Graham books around never realized she had historical in her Romantic Suspense. I always thought she wrote modern day Romantic Suspense. Thanks for sharing the clip. I do not do audio so it was nice to listen to a narrator. I liked Luke Daniels voice. Happy this was hit for you.
Well this is all set in the modern day but it looks into historical murders or mysteries. Luke Daniels is amazing!
I enjoy the Krewe of Hunter books and listened to these. Glad you had fun and can you really go wrong with Luke?
Obviously not. He commented on my Tweet he is recording the next one right now! I’m way behind but working my way forward.
The Krewe is my favorite series by her and i enjoyed this one too. Kind of behind in the series now and need to catch up.
I just got the next one at the library today on CD. None of my libraries has it on digital audio. And I’m totally addicted to Luke Daniels.
I enjoy this series, but I haven’t read this one yet. I’ll have to see if my library has it!
The library has all the ebooks but I want the audios because Luke Daniels. So I got some through libraries but I have had to Interlibrary loan CDs for the next set. Also I bought a bunch of MP3 when they were on sale. So I’m getting them through a mix of sources.
