As you will see from my list, I fall in love with a character and I stick with him even with other books in the series, where he isn’t a main character. Fantasy / Urban Fantasy makes this easy as often it is the same guy throughout the series. Pretty much, my choices over all aren’t typical or wise.

A couple of these would be on my list too. And I think I might actually have to add a few animals to my list:) I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Main characters are great but sometimes I find that the supporting characters, animals or sentient objects are what can really make the book go from just good to great for me.
Alessandro lost out just a little bit to Grandma Frida for Saphire Flames.
Favorite characters are tough. I love Robin’s choices. There are certainly animals who could easily make my list too.
Cletus is fantastic in all the books I’ve read Anne. I hadn’t read any of the Winston brothers published this year so I didn’t put him on my list. It was so hard.
Alessandro from Sapphire Flames, Nell from Circle of the Moon, Arland or Maud from Sweep of the Blade and so many others almost made the cut.
I love your choices. Cletus was in both Beard with Me and Beard Necessities which I read and were published this year. He actually played a role more than a mention in them. He was also in many of the new Smartypants romance books, particularly the Donner Bakery ones which is why I chose to read them. I love Luna and Murderbot I would choose HELEN from Sweep of the Blade!
Love Murderbot and Grandma Frida! I want to read the Alex Versus series and can’t wait to start reading Karin Slaughter. 🙂
OMG Both Alex Verus and the Karin Slaughter books had a HUGE impact on me this year and I loved them. I would also recommend very highly the William Kent Krueger books about Cork O’Connor if you haven’t read them. Thanks for sharing your favorites with us!
Grandma Frida is so much fun. I love the idea of her character.
Nice picks. I fall for many characters, but I have my same few that I just love Mercy/Adam, Gin, & Dresden.
For today instead of Characters I did New To Me Authors. I found some great ones in 2019.
That’s great. I did New to me series for Series on Saturday which had some of my favorite new to me authors. Thanks for being here this week!
Your welcome! I like your Series on Saturday feature. I’ve found some great new to me authors/series to try.
My mum LOVES Slaughter’s Will Trent series but I’ve never read it myself.
Grandma Freida rocks!
Well I hope someday you get to enjoy Will Trent! And there will be more Grandma Frida this year.
Well Trent…just another book series to add to the stack of them on my tbr pile.
I love looking at lists like this and yes, I can see why Lady Charlotte made the list. I STILL need to read the Murderbot books.
The first one All Systems Red is my recommend for COYER and they are so awesome and make me laugh.
I have such a good time with the Murderbot series. So happy a full length novel is coming out in May.
I haven’t read all of these books yet but Grandma Frida, Catalina Baylor, and Murderbot would definitely be on my list.
Great characters are a key to great books. There are so many I could list.
I am not familiar with most of these characters, but I can agree that Charlotte Holmes is a treasure! Nice lists, ladies!
Well then it’s like me you have options for your TBR. Thanks for sharing your favorites.
I’m not familiar with any of these. My favorite characters are from Dannika Dark’s CrossBreed series. Christian, Raven, Gem, Sheppard, Niko, Blue and all the other members of the Keystone group.
I think you might enjoy the Ilona Andrews series, and Lady Sherlock by Sherry Thomas and also the Beginners Guid to Necromancy by Hailey Edwards. Thanks for sharing your favorites.
