The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.  The Love on the Brain giveaway ends tonight!

Sunday,  I did my blog visiting and more computer tasks. I edited and wrote a couple reviews. Lulu and I walked and it was kind of sticky.  It was supposed to rain more than it did.  I was really happy to get organized for tomorrow.

Monday, I got going early enough to get more accomplished and get caught up on writing reviews finally.   Then I updated the linkys for mid-month for challenges.   I got the dinner in the oven; and then Lulu and I went for our walk, still a bit sticky.

Tuesday,  I’m trying to fix in on a sleep schedule with some success.  I got my review written and then an audio ARC arrived for one of my favorite series!  It was a little less humid so I braved some yardwork.  I got the backyard mowed and then took Lulu for her walk.

Wednesday,   ugh, Goodreads is making me login every day.  No word about being a librarian; I guess that’s a no or they got tons of applications when they took away the ability to add books.  I need it mostly for audiobooks.  I got my review written so I’m caught up again.  I’ve been listening to Decluttering at the Speed of Life which I discovered when Jinjer was reading it and it has some worthwhile ideas.   It was a busy afternoon with a checkup at the vet for Lulu and then we went to Menchies for frozen yogurt because I had a coupon.  When we got home, I took Lulu for a walk.  Then my daughter and quilted together for a couple hours before dinner.

Thursday,  I’m so glad it’s Thursday not Friday.  I hope to get a bunch of calls and tasks done today with a few more errands tomorrow.  I put in a Wegman’s curbside order for tomorrow.  I ordered RX refills for my daughter and myself.  I called the garden center and they have the plants so I can pick them up tomorrow. I paid the bills for September.  My daughter helped me put together our new raised bed, only to find the 4 boards in the bottom didn’t fit.

Friday,  I got the basic computer tasks and kitchen cleanups finished and then headed out for errands.  I found all the plants at the Garden Center and then picked up the groceries at Wegman’s curbside.  Lulu enjoyed her car ride.   After some deliberation, I decided I could cut 2 cm off one board with a hand saw.  I did about half of it in short bursts after dinner.   I made up a planting / care sheet for all the new veggie plants I purchased.

Broccoli  just planted             (in between are tomatoes,  marigolds)                           Green beans

Saturday,  I continued on the short bursts and finished shortening one board.  I sanded the rough end a bit.  It was very close but it fit with the other three so now the new bed is ready for soil and my lettuces and spinach.  I mixed cow manure into the regular bed to plant the broccoli.  I also got a bay (Sweet Laurel) plant for the herb bed, so we can dry our own bay leaves.   I haven’t figured where I am putting the new chard plants just yet.  There was a downpour right about the time I was going to plant the broccoli.  After dinner, my daughter helped me carry the raised bed out to the yard, where it will be in a shady area for a couple weeks until it gets cooler and then we can move it to a sunnier spot.  The green beans are starting to flower and are about a foot high now.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Marlene at  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks so much to Recorded Books,  Minotaur Books.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

NONE

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. It sounds like you got a lot done. How frustrating that the raised planter didn’t fit together just right. I am really excited about Kelley Armstrong’s upcoming book. I liked Space Academy Dropouts and am a fan of Kate L Mary. Have a great week!

    • Thank you Tanya. We love eating things fresh that we have planted. My daughter is excited to give everyone dried rosemary and bay leaves from our garden for Christmas. lol It may be too early this first year on the bay leaves. This week is going to be hot again so I’ll have to watch the moisture.

  2. Love that pic of your daughter and Lulu💜

It takes Goodreads forever to respond to stuff now. I don’t believe they have a dedicated staff anymore. Hang in there.

Can’t wait to listen to Fox Creek. I’m so excited about returning to Cork’s world.

    Have a great week, Anne!

  3. You are doing much better on the planting than I am. Though hubby and I are sketching plans for raised beds made of cement blocks since wood is so expensive now. You got rain yesterday? The guys said it poured when I was in Ohio at the beginning of the week (there was 2.25″ in the rain gauge) but we’ve had nothing since. I had to water everything on Friday, as well as fill the birdbath. I wish the humidity would slack off and the temps drop just a bit more. Ugh

    • Yes Carol, it is too hot again. It’s back to 90s and I am not a fan. We did get a brief rainstorm yesterday, maybe a half hour but very localized from what the map showed. Since it’s hotter, I need to keep a close eye on my new plants. The garden center was very clear with me that it was probably too early to plant for a week or two. So I’ll have to watch the moisture and I’ve got the raised bed in almost full shade and will move it when things cool down. Hopefully we can manage it even with the soil but it’s not huge 4×2.

  4. It’s been really muggy here too. That’s the one thing that makes the heat so much worse I think. I had to mow on Saturday because the one day it was a little cooler this week I was just too exhausted from the first week of school stuff. I hope you have a good week! I’m a librarian on Goodreads if you need anything before they let you know if you can be one.

    • Thank you Lisa. I don’t know if it’s better or worse but when it was cooler we got some rain, now it’s hotter for a bit and not so much rain. I’ll have to watch the moisture carefully for the new plants. I really appreciate your offer on the Goodreads adding books. I may email you one day to add one; it’s mostly audiobooks that are an issue.

  5. We’ve got very strange weather here with some days feeling like spring and then the next day it’s freezing again. That’s why everyone is getting sick.

Your week seem busy, I hope the next week will be better and that you have some well deserved reading time.

  6. Wow your garden sounds like it’s coming around. Love the pics! I just watched a squirrel steal one of our tomatoes. Little bugger. He took a red one (before we brought it in) and left it on the deck railing- then he came back and took a green one, took a bite, then left it and absconded with the red one again. Glad he’s having fun 🙂

I need the new Kelley Armstrong especially with the Rockton series winding down…

  7. Way to go getting the saw out and making those wrong-fitting boards work. You got a lot of good gardening tasks in this week and errands. I did a little garden work, but mostly was doing my annual pull everything out of the drawers and shelves to wash them out and then start with clean organized drawers and kitchen shelves until next year. 🙂

Yay, you got some good review ones. I got the Kelley Armstrong, too.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  8. Goodreads is making me log in every day too. It’s so annoying. I still don’t have the “new” Goodreads like everyone’s talking about in my group. I hope it’s not as bad as everyone says it is.

  9. I need to work on getting a good sleep schedule going as well. I think I would feel a lot better if I had that under control. I’m impressed how you tackled the raised bed though how frustrating it didn’t just come together like it was supposed to! Glad Lulu got to go to pick up groceries with you. Rover loves car rides too and it’s so fun to take him on errands. Have a wonderful week!

  10. Goodreads has been signing me out all the time too and it’s frustrating! What a bummer your raised garden bed didn’t fit together properly! Nice that you managed a work around. It’s a hassle when you have to return things. I just requested that new Kelley Armstrong. Can’t wait to see what happens with Eric and Casey in their new endeavor!

    • Well it seems to be a bunch of people having to login, not just us. yes I had to figure it out because I wanted to plant soon and I couldn’t figure it out until I’d put together all but the bottom. I’m very excited about the new town for Casey and Eric.

  11. Jen

It’s so strange that you are planting stuff now where as up here, everything is dying off or turning colors already. I really need to move someplace where it’s warmer longer. I’m such a summer gal. I’m glad you were able to fix the raised bed.

My week was busy buying things for my son as he prepares to head off to school next weekend. I’ve been having lots of stress dreams related to his move – getting lost in a high school, getting lost in a new dorm, dorm door not locking, late for classes, etc. It’s so funny how it’s manifesting in my dreams.

    • yes the cool crops like lettuces, spinach and broccoli, snow peas will do fine, even over the winter in sometimes. It will be 70-60-50 by December. So 4 months and 120 days is plenty, most are 70ish days. Really only Jan-Feb have freezing temps at night. And if it’s not many days, those cool crops will grow even those months. The temperature range is much narrower than MN. Here the temps are between 30-100, daytime highs mostly 50-100.

  12. Oh you’re reading the Decluttering book! I still have NOT read her books. I learned everything from her website, which I read, starting at the beginning, as she instructed me to do. lol I do still want to read the books though. Currently, I have nothing to declutter, thanks to her. I’m clutterfree!

Goodreads…ugh!!! Do not get me started on them! I’m still so angry about the new book page! I haven’t had to log in like you’re having to do though. Is that on the app or the browser? I use the browser 99.9% of the time.

Cute picture of Lulu and your daughter!

  13. I used to work at Wegman’s in Rochester NY ten plus years ago. I loved the place and miss it down here in Florida. Your gardens look wonderful! I will keep in mind a raised bed for next year. I think it may work and I would love to have some fresh vegetables from my garden. I have gotten pretty lazy, so I would need something simple. I would probably make it on stilts or something so I don’t have to bend over.

    • I love Wegmans! They have the best produce and dairy. They also have a pretty good selection of gluten-free items. The raised bed I got was $50. I saw another one on FB today which is bigger, a U shape with a door and tall posts above for climbing beans, peas, etc for $70. I needed one I could move between shade and sun.

  14. Another super busy week for you! I bet Goodreads is swamped. Maybe you’ll hear back from them in a week or two. Love your garden beds! They looks so neat and tidy now. 🙂

  15. I love reading your busy, productive week:)). And your plants look lovely. Our garden is frankly a complete mess, but I am gritting my teeth and ignoring it while we try to get the house decluttered and fit for the children to continue to live with us. I’ve nicked across and got hold of Space Academy Dropout – thank you for the heads-up on that one:)). I hope you’re having a good week, Anne and fingers crossed it isn’t as steamy and hot as feared!

  16. Goodreads is a nightmare now, with all the changes taking place. Good luck with the green beans – our runner beans have produced a huge crop so far, though the French beans have done less well. Have a great week and happy reading.

  17. I love the picture with Lulu and your daughter. Thank you for sharing it. And your garden pictures. Hope your plants will grow and taste good when you can finally harvest them. I didn´t experience the Goodreads sign in problem. But I am not looking every day. Although it sounds annoying. Happy reading and thank you for all the audio reviews. I saw some very good looking covers and will read your reviews soon.
